When removing or installing early Ford springs I always make it easy on myself snd dismantle the spring so I'm only fighting the main leaf. Once the main leaf is hooked up with the shackles I then stack up the rest of the spring leaves on the main leaf. I put a large long screwdriver through the center hole to keep the leaves in alignment and use a couple of big C clamps to squeeze it back together. Once it's all clamped together I put out the screwdriver and put the center bolt back in place.
