Really enjoyed this episode of Vicki Explores. The water in those streams looks so inviting. Fresh, clean and ice cold, would make for a great thirst quencher after all those miles of walking! Please continue to make more ''Vicki Explores'' this series is fantastic!!
Hah. I could almost feel the dramatic tension behind the scenes. It’s like the 2nd derivative of Chekhov’s Gun: A Geoff unseen in the first act will still exert his energy through to the end of the play.
I'm just back from doing that walk myself, although in the opposite direction. It's an absolute stunner of a landscape, and a very special part of the world. :) Thanks for inspiring me to do it! I'm off to bed now to rest my aching limbs...
While I'm sad I didn't get to go out and explore some of the hiking paths while there (it rained the entire time I was there), just staying at Corrour was a glorious experience. Thank both again for turning me on to such a peaceful and picturesque place.
One of my favourite walks! Have camped at the old lodge a few times too. Watching the lit windows of trains float across the pitch black of the moor at night is a special sight!
Thank you so much it is one of my favourite walks. The station tea room is a real oasis, particularly perhaps if you have arrived there by walking over the moor from the Kings House. A challenging walk that, no obvious footpath, might need to be done by following a compass bearing, that is until you look at the map and work out that all you have to do is follow the overhead power line! I too have camped at the lodge, stream close by and some shelter from the bad weather if needed. There is a suggestion that, at some stage, the lodge was used as a convalescent home, perhaps if anybody could survive the journey there then they would have got better anyway. Thanks again.
I've watched this video 3 times now in its different incarnations. As a Patron, I am very happy with both the quality and content. Happy to carry on supporting and being part of your marvelous videos.
Enjoyed that walk in the opposite direction in the summer on a rare sunny day. Although there is more downhill to Rannoch Station there is the added pressure of getting the walk timing right to catch the train back up the hill.
That's really picturesque, like how I see rural Scotland in my mind. It's strange that Friday is the one day the tearoom is closed, many places like that will shut down either Sunday or Monday.
I was on the train on Rannoch Moor once on the way back from Fort William. An RAF Hercules and two Harriers came hammering over the top of the train at low level - glorious.
Absolutely amazing!! Best Vickie Explore yet! (And my name in it at the top of page 2!) LOVE it. This is at the top of the list of places to go in the UK. Not in November, tho. Straight from Gatwick to Matlock, with just one night in London on the way out. (Of course with a few trips on the 🚎🚎🚎 to & from Croydon.)
I walked from Loch Ossian by Corrour over to Rannoch station and eventually to Kinloch Rannoch around 2007 or 2008, but it was just a track, full of mud, rock heather and puddles. I'm assuming this track has now been updated to a metalled roadway, if so, must make my return for memory's sake.
Music at a much better volume now, now I definitely can't hear the distortion I couldn't hear before, I guess my ancient speakers are just good at handling high volume.
Looking forward to skimming along the Highlands from Aberdeen towards Fort William. Your vids make me want to repeat the bus tour by train as some point...
Great video, both of you! Geoff, doing that walk with video camera, kudos. Have passed through both stations a few times, but never got off at either, yet
I have a mini version on the blue signs. Mine has Kinneil on it as I got at the Bo'ness and Kinneil railway a few months back. Interesting to see it in large form. 🙂
I did too! Nice easter egg, you two! ;-) I also noticed a slightly weird tempo change at the end. Nice combination. All the castles indeed! Be sure to go to Doune Castle in Scotland.
Nearest I've been to Corrour is Rannoch, have a 1978 picture of sign post for "footpath to Fort William by Corrour". That area is lovely in good weather, but miserable when raining. By the way, I hear Worcestershire Parkway station should appear on December timetables.
I don't know when the railway through Rannoch Moor was built but the first railway to go through a moor like that was the Manchester to Liverpool that went over Chat Moss. Stephenson decided to just fill the Moss up with footing material until it could take the rails and the strain of the trains. The line over Chat Moss is still used today as Rannoch Moor is.
Great. But just imagine doing that in January. I once went up the WH line in a train where the heating wasn't working and had to wrap myself in a foil survival blanket, in the train. Outside was dark and stormy.
So Vicki, it would appear that there are many here among us who want you to change your pronunciation of place names to the local accent. I say, stuff 'em and carry on being quaint and NFN. Loved it from beginning to end, and once again it shows who the true star was, is and will forever be...
Thanks, Geoff and Vicki, for going all that way for that video. Now I'm all agog as to what other places Vicki will explore in future videos. 3:34 "sphagnum moss, which I hope I'm pronouncing correctly". Ah, Vicki, I love the way you speak, and you pronounced "sphagnum" correctly -- pity that you didn't correctly pronounce the name of the station you visited. Rannoch has that Scottish ch made at the back of the throat.
So when kintore station opens next year. You come up to aberdeen, got out to kintore and on the way back down south stop at stonehaven so Vikki can do a Vikki explores dunnottar castle..... deal?
What a gorgeous landscape. Well done for such a long walk. Geoff's videoing was excellent. Great information. Looking forward to more videos
Really enjoyed this episode of Vicki Explores. The water in those streams looks so inviting. Fresh, clean and ice cold, would make for a great thirst quencher after all those miles of walking! Please continue to make more ''Vicki Explores'' this series is fantastic!!
"All the castles" instead of "All the stations", love the tune!
Corrour is now the most used station in the UK due entirely to Vicki & Geoff. 😊
They got me to travel all the way from Washington DC to visit it. And I had to drive in with the line being shutdown for repairs. Well worth it!
I think the film Trainspotting is also a major factor.
cythrosi How did you drive to Corrour? It’s not possible.
@@neobe195 In another G&V video the staff drive to it along a private road. Well, track really. You need a Land Rover.
Chris Webb yes i seen the documentary but it’s not possible for @cythrosi to do it. i call bs
Geoff remaining professional there, not showing his face 😂good restraint!
Hah. I could almost feel the dramatic tension behind the scenes. It’s like the 2nd derivative of Chekhov’s Gun: A Geoff unseen in the first act will still exert his energy through to the end of the play.
Guess, Vicki had to throw away about 10 minutes of tape with Geoff on it ;-)
I'm just back from doing that walk myself, although in the opposite direction. It's an absolute stunner of a landscape, and a very special part of the world. :) Thanks for inspiring me to do it! I'm off to bed now to rest my aching limbs...
Love your vids. You are such a natural presenter.
That Vicki Explores exclusive theme, too good.
Love your videos, Vicki and Geoff! Thank you for what you are doing!

"A major derailment at Rannoch is believed to be caused by incorrectly set points and signals..."
One of my favourite walks! Have camped at the old lodge a few times too. Watching the lit windows of trains float across the pitch black of the moor at night is a special sight!
Nice to see you at my station Corrour from the All the Stations journey. It’s a cool station. Love the Highlands
You guys make beautiful videos. Thanks so much.
'All The Castles' at the end. Next series I presume!
If that isn't a hint then I don't know what is !!
Always love a 'Vicki explores', but the camera work here is *excellent*. Top marks, Geoff!
The beauty of that place never ceases.
What a superb video , and nice to see my name listed . Many more adventures to come hopefully

Andy Hill thank you Andy!!
Much better audio indeed, thanks for the effort !

Fabulous. The view of Corrour Station from a distance was stunning.

Spectacular scenery on your walk! Super to see. Thanks.
I love that landscape that’s The Scotland Highlands
Vicki very interested place with platform tearoom looks nice u make good signal lady
Ah, I love Scotland so much.. ^^ Your videos are so great to relax and end your hard day :)
Lovely place scenery and video.
Rannoch station is beautiful. So well preserved. Im glad the tea room is independent.
Scottish Highlands...they're addictive.
What a fantastic channel. Many thanks chris 👍
Thumbs up most definitely.
Wonderful video, wonderful scenery! Thanks!
Great episode with a beautiful shot of the station at the end, thanks!
Fab video enjoyed allof the information i cant wait an tell the next one

I absolutely love corrour and Rannoch, good choice for a vicky explores!
Geoff is behind the camera...
Of course he is
You can't go to Corrour without Geoff
Nice appearance on the TV tonight Vicki and Geoff!
Got moors not many miles away from where I live. Winter rather bleak, but summer very vibrant and colourful. Glad you enjoyed.
One day I'll go there, one day. The scenery is just amazing.
Done that walk twice, it's always great!
1:21 V smiling like that over her cup made me want to have a seat and chat. 😊😊😊
Brilliant
Fantastic.....and quite a long walk!
Love the Corrour to Rannoch walk. Done it a couple of times. Get the sun in the summer .. perfect.
Thank you Vicki and Geoff for another fantastic video. I wish you two would come to California and do an All The Stations
Hoping to do this walk! Looks lovely 😀😀 .
Oh great. Now I want to go to Scotland again and I only returned a week ago. 😁
Some beautiful videography in this episode!
All the castles would be SO EPIC

Great video. The next time you two are in Edinburgh, the coffee and tea's on me and we'll work on saying "Rannoch" and "Loch". 😉
And Geoff Saying Cor-our instead of Co-roor.
Mìle taing, a'Bhici!/Many thanks, Vicky!
Really lovely place & wonderful video. Keep up the good work! ...take care!
Music at a much better volume now, now I definitely can't hear the distortion I couldn't hear before, I guess my ancient speakers are just good at handling high volume.
On the 11th October 2019 I'm going from Cheltenham Spa to Nottingham im very excited
That'll be fun. :)
January 2021 and I could get excited about going from Cheltenham Spa to Nottingham.
Great Video
Have ridden up to Rannoch Station on my motorbike. It's a good hour and three quarters from Perth for me. Always wanted to get the train up though.
Looking forward to skimming along the Highlands from Aberdeen towards Fort William. Your vids make me want to repeat the bus tour by train as some point...
Nice work with the Drone footage, Geoff!
11 miles! Well done both of you.
I must confess I didn't notice a problem with the original audio, but it was nice to watch the explore again.
Great stuff. Love the Vicki explores. Come back up North and do the new class 68 from Scarborough. You can explore York Castle, well Cliffords tower.
Very thirty nine steps-y! Looks lovely
Great Video, great countryside.
Great video very interesting
Great video, both of you! Geoff, doing that walk with video camera, kudos. Have passed through both stations a few times, but never got off at either, yet
Lovely walk! :)
Interesting video.

Well,done ,from vancouver island bc.
Did I hear 'All the Castles' at the end...
I did too! Nice easter egg, you two! ;-) I also noticed a slightly weird tempo change at the end. Nice combination.
All the castles indeed! Be sure to go to Doune Castle in Scotland.
looks like a nice walk.
There is quite a good book (if you can find a copy) called The West Highland Railway by John Thomas (1965)
Nearest I've been to Corrour is Rannoch, have a 1978 picture of sign post for "footpath to Fort William by Corrour". That area is lovely in good weather, but miserable when raining. By the way, I hear Worcestershire Parkway station should appear on December timetables.
Irn-Bru sighting in the tea room.
Really nice video Brought back a few memories. You should explore the Black Country Museum and leg the cut(canal). Move the barge through a tunnel.
Chat Moss came first, that was one of the first railways in the UK.
should have a look at the mountains around south wales... lots of history and like that , big skys !
nice rainbow shot
Great mate
Still love the music
Love the VLOG
How about a all the stations for heritage lines
Great. But just imagine doing that in January.
I once went up the WH line in a train where the heating wasn't working and had to wrap myself in a foil survival blanket, in the train. Outside was dark and stormy.

@Tom's Ghost 😎
Seeing Vicki on the levers, she can pull me a pint of beer any time she likes.
Ahhh, luvverly....
thats it I have to do this walk.
Thanks, Geoff and Vicki, for going all that way for that video. Now I'm all agog as to what other places Vicki will explore in future videos.

Pity all train stations can't be like that , nice cuppa and some cake !
So when kintore station opens next year. You come up to aberdeen, got out to kintore and on the way back down south stop at stonehaven so Vikki can do a Vikki explores dunnottar castle..... deal?
Corrour station seems more remote than Rannoch Moor station.
@1:21 irn bru can on the table
id agree with the remotest claim as it's in the middle of the back of nowhere!
All the Castles!!!
Those railway models on the wall at Rannoch must be welded to the track base, never seen it before. So what are the zip ties for?
