I love the character development, every time I think one is my favorite, there’s another, I just love them all! Peter was already very interesting to me from reading the Bible, before I saw The Chosen. The scene of Peter talking to God, telling how he really feels, is great, because it shows the human conflict of living in this fallen world, the struggles and not understanding why God is allowing certain things to happen. Peter is being himself with God, and then we see “God became flesh” through Jesus, so loving, patient, forgiving and merciful! For Peter and the others to just leave everything and follow Jesus astounds me! What does that look like today? What does this mean practically, but sincerely for each of us to follow Jesus? Like you said Brandon, it doesn’t mean following when it’s convenient. We have so many things that distract us from what is most important! I have thought the enemy has used this, ( not that we don’t let our own sin nature and flesh get in the way, all by ourselves)! Seriously, how can we follow Jesus in our day and time? What does that look like? I use to think laying everything down to follow Jesus, meant something like, being a missionary, going to another country to share Jesus, and help people. Now, I think we could use missionaries coming to the US, instead! “Get use to different!” became a favorite line that the actor representing Jesus said to the disciples, from the first season of “The Chosen.” When they were use to doing things a certain way, but learning from Jesus, his ways were so much different! So, what would different look like to us in our lives now? We’ve certainly seen wrong examples of being a follower of Jesus, from tv evangelist, the pope and well, obvious misrepresentation and falsehood of Jesus teachings and life example. This has caused many who don’t yet know Jesus, to be turned off and not being open to even hearing and looking into who Jesus really is, because they already have preconceived thoughts. So, showing and sharing with people, who Jesus really is, I think where we find ourselves today. We can’t do this on our own. While in the flesh, as a human being, Jesus himself, went off to be alone, to spend time seeking Father God, and Jesus said, he could not do anything on his own, (while in the flesh) only what he saw to do from his Father in Heaven. Jesus promised the disciples that he would send them the Holy Spirit, that would help them, and us as well do the will of our Heavenly Father. As important and busy Jesus was, teaching, healing, dealing with the Pharisees, Jesus still got away to seek his Father in Heaven! This is something that fascinates me about how Jesus dealt with being in the flesh/a human body that gets tired, hungry, and everything else we go through, but Jesus made time realizing how important it was to be spend time with the Father! So, why is this a struggle for (some of us) to do this? Besides many excuses, none good enough, could it be that Jesus knew what was at stake? Our salvation depended on Jesus accomplishing what he came into this world to do! Another thing I’ve thought about lately, wasn’t it when Jesus received the Holy Spirit, that he then began his official ministry? When I think about this, it shows how important it is for us to also have the Holy Spirits help and the same Holy Spirit that helped Jesus while in the flesh, Jesus sends to us, to help us! So, how do we follow Jesus better when we struggle to lay things down, leave things that hinder our walk with him? How do we overcome physical illness and pain? How can we develop more of the characteristics of Jesus, and have his strength in our weakness?
Love your post! You sound like you are really seeking after God! It's not easy, like you said , we have so much battling against us. Just like in Jesus' time, and just like in all of time,....just some different things. I believe God sees our hearts and intentions, and 'honors' that, and helps us as we stumble along. He's encouraging and forgiving and kind and loving.
Like he said: surrender. God will take it from there and show you what needs to go, then obey. "If you love me you keep my commandments". Start there. I'm amazed how far the Lord has brought my husband and I in 6 years. I call it the bread crumb method. He led us to have Bible reading and prayer together after breakfast! He brought us into Hebrew Roots so we could obey the 4th commandment. And we keep looking for (and finding) more! We didn't see the Chosen until Oct 2020 and love that they show the Lord's Feasts. Glory to God!
I have watched the entire series... and they were all awesome!! Yes, it took several hours, but time flew by so quickly... each episode was mesmerizing that I couldn't wait to watch the next one... and the next... etc. Many emotions were expressed: sorrow, crying, anger at times, humility, laughter, excitement. A 5-☆, 5-👍movie series! A must-watch! (And one you may want to watch again & again. 5-❤'s too!
No idea how i found this channel today . But it sounded like a Bible study to me. I have long put off reading the Bible and this is what i needed to start my Bible reading. Thank you so much. God bless you., Brandon Robbins. would love if you go through the 4 gospels from the beginning and help us read the Bible and understand the hidden meanings in the words that Jesus said.
Hi, Jermain. I'm so glad you found it. My "Beyond the Words" series will be doing exactly that, looking at the details that help us see the scriptures more clearly. As they release, you will be able to those videos here: ua-cam.com/play/PLbkn1n4qa_D0EmHH2v6KkTQooJs_HCmZx.html
God is in the details and it's soo so helpful for me to be stopped from just not taking time with those thanks for taking the time to point out some important trues like the net and when Jesus says to Peter FOLLOW Me. I would rewind that scene over and over. I do the same with the scene where Jacob say "we didn't CHOOSE HIM" , loved the pause and then in confidence celebritory way he says" He CHOSE US". Thanks
Brandon, I am taking my small group at Church through THE CHOSEN starting with Season One Episode One and watching one episode at a time then discussing it afterward. Your review about what is hidden beneath has been so helpful to ME being able to be the teacher God has called me to be in regard to making a difference in how people see Jesus and the Disciples. Like so many people I learn much more by watching or listening than by reading. I am not the note taker when someone is speaking, I am more like Simon/Peter than Matthew in other words. Thanks for your reviews being such a great tool for me to use!
Thank you for your interessting videos! One thing about fishing: There is another explanation for fishing at night: During the day, the fish dive into deeper, colder water to get more oxygen. At night they swim further up and can be fished easier.
This is the first reaction video I watch. I love the insight. It is very informative and enlightening. I appreciate all your comments. Thank you and God bless you ✝️
@@BrandonRobbinsMinistry I appreciate your explanations & hopefully more people will be exposed to this wonderful, timely series of the "Life of Jesus" (not just the life of the disciples.) The only thing wrong is your cast net explanation. You do not need to wear a bathing suit, nor be naked to retrieve a cast net. The way they are constructed, the weights close in around the catch as the main line is yanked upon. There is no need to jump in the water at all. That is not a detail Dallas Jenkins would overlook, so please do not suggest so. God bless.
I believe everyone in some point, will question God when subjected to overwhelming difficulties, when things doesn't make sense (just like Peter ranting with God). But God is always good and will not be intimidated. He will not usually answer the way we want Him to answer. He has greater ways to bring us in reverence awe of Him, to amaze us. #myJesus :-)
@@jeffrachelburkhalter3783 do you really believe that even the most kindest of believers don’t get real and raw with God? Not being disrespectful or snarky, I only ask because I am a believer with a relationship with our Heavenly Father. I’m real and raw and sometimes, get upset or even angry not at Him but with Him lol I’m not condemned or thrashed on as our Father is a perfect gentlemen. God doesn’t want us to be monotoned robots pretending to be perfect characters, that’s not who He created us to be. I can absolutely relate to Simon/Peter in His rant. The “fear” of our Father isn’t a spirit of fear. rather acknowledge and aware that we are held accountable when we willfully and some times without consciousness, sin or break rules and lack asking Him to forgive us. sin is sin, equal in the eyes of God. Peter being frustrated with God may seem harsh and even disrespectful but not a sin. a good parent wouldn’t punish his child for having a voice of frustration. A good parent also allows his child to suffer natural consequences to teach him a lesson, in hopes his child acknowledges it’s his own actions that got him there. Peter pulled licks, manipulated and, was human! Just like you and me. There’s isn’t a single profit in biblical days, old OR New Testament who was even minutely perfect. But each one after Gods heart. And God chose each one, fearful, wonderfully made who grew up into sin. We are all special, hand picked by God. We are chosen!
@@lucduchien "God can take it" is a very bad attitude. God deserves the utmost reverence at all times. The idea of screaming and shouting at the Most High is antinomian. How dare any of us talk to God with any disrespect.
This triggered the memory of 3 people in my family who worked with repairing nets and a rough old Uncle who fished for a living his whole life from Garibaldi, Oregon.

Sitting at the feet of Jesus. It's good to hear your teaching so clear. The three kinds of fish ftom the common to Sabbath and the small sardines. So inclusive.
Brandon, I didn’t know Andrew was a follower of John the Baptizer! I love learning so many veins the scenes things from you! The way they used the fishing nets was another thing I didn’t know! Thanks
Simon in the boat is me. Not so much complaining about the plight of the children of Israel rather my own. This has too often been me in absolute frustration. "What now God? What next? Please don't torment me. Guide me! Lead me! Do not forsake me! ... Oh ya. Be patient and wait on the Lord." Scripture doesn't tell you what job to take or which home to buy or who to marry, etc. You do these things with blind faith that all will go well. When things go badly, as they do, it leaves you frustrated, angry and hopeless.
I must say that, while I was watching this episode, every time Peter spoke about a complaint against God I remembered the history of that particular complaint and each time it was the Israelites/Hebrews/Jews that had gone against the covenant of the Lord or the command of the Lord. Even the Roman Empire; they had signed a treaty with them during the Maccabeean revolt because they wanted protection and help against the other nations. They even sing the praises of the Roman's. This was clearly going against a command of the Lord that they were not to make unholy alliances with pagan nations. So everything that Peter was complaining about was due to the actions of the people not due to God being confusing. Nevertheless, I absolutely love and am quite moved by every episode.
This was in my recommendations this morning. So glad I clicked to watch this video. Great unpacking of the scriptures behind the scenes of The Chosen. Love The Chosen ! New sub ! Waves from Kansas USA
Thank you for the clarification of the cultural time of Jesus, and the scriptures. I have never watched the series but it looks interesting. I will try to find it and watch from the first episode. 💖✝️
If nothing bad ever happened, we would not see just how capable and willing God is to deliver us from, or sustaining us through it all! One of the most misquoted saying I've heard is: " God will never give you more than you can handle"..This is so untrue. God gives you more than you (on your own) can handle. In this way, you will understand what Jesus said in Matthew 11:30 "..My yoke is easy" Any burden is made light when you are yoked with The Lord.
I happened upon another one of these episodes and it's perfect every single time you include the science you include the timeline everything is in context and you answered all of my questions concerning the different sects and groups we all try when things don't fit
Brandon, thank you for your commentaries. One thing you might address that I found fascinating is when Jesus called James and John. The Bible says that they left their father and their nets and followed him. I often wondered what their dad thought about them leaving him. In the episode, it shows them asking their father Zebedee for permission, and him giving it willingly, even cheerfully. That is a significant action, and well-played in the episode. It showed that Zebedee was a man of God also, and the respect his sons had for him.
That's a really great point. It's definitely an interesting thing to consider. He likely would have been proud of them being chosen to follow a rabbi. At the same time, he was losing two key workers!
Sorry my friend, but I was a fisherman in Gabon where they use the same method of fishing. And what I noticed is that the more fishes the net is filled with, the easier it is to pull it. Simply because the fish swim in the same direction as the net is pulled. When the net was empty or almost empty, it was very heavy to pull because the rope was wet. On the other hand, the more the net was filled with fish, the more these same fish "helped" with their fins to pull the net. We often found ourselves with three or four men to pull up a net (twice in the morning) that could fill a large pick up truck. (African style) Blessings
Have you noticed how terse scripture is with the most important lessons. These four words as you pointed out. Also "So that no man can boast." And my recent epiphany, upon learning of his friend Lazarus's death, "Jesus wept". Jesus knew that he could ask his Father to revive his friend and indeed did. That did not remove the need for Jesus, fully man, to grieve the death of his friend. Such a powerful lesson in two words, "Jesus wept" We as Christians need to stop attempting to tamp down the pain of grief that we witness others experiencing, rather we should come alongside, invite the Holy Spirit to join us, and allow the grief to flow as did the wholly Man Jesus. As in "I am" Man needs many words to try to describe what scripture "The word of God" does in so few.
The Bible comes alive by watching the Chosen, and you spelling it out helps me so much. Thank you 😊

@@BrandonRobbinsMinistry thank you, Brandon. will look up this link. Do you also pray for people as well?
Thank you so much for this wonderful Bible teaching!
Thank you for watching!
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for explaining all these scenes and the Bible in real life!!
Thank you you have changed my thinking and how truth, depth, Grace, love of Jesus. Excellent.
Great commentary, bringing in significance of ancient times and ties back to scripture. Keep up the great work. God bless!
Thank you!
We still are the same bible people. We still have the same faults and sinfulness.
Thank you for your interessting videos! One thing about fishing: There is another explanation for fishing at night: During the day, the fish dive into deeper, colder water to get more oxygen. At night they swim further up and can be fished easier.
That’s really cool. I didn’t know that! Thank you for watching!
@@BrandonRobbinsMinistry You´re welcome! Will there be a reaction to the other episodes, too? Your reactions are very interessting!

Wow Brandon , what a blessing to listen to a young man speak so in love with Our LORD
Thank you!
Thank you for unpacking some of the details about the history and culture context of these moments.
Thank you for watching!
You are a great add to the watching. Thank you for some lessons I needed to understand better!
Peter feared God, there is no way on this earth he would have talked to Him like that.
@@jeffrachelburkhalter3783 do you really believe that even the most kindest of believers don’t get real and raw with God? Not being disrespectful or snarky, I only ask because I am a believer with a relationship with our Heavenly Father. I’m real and raw and sometimes, get upset or even angry not at Him but with Him lol
I’m not condemned or thrashed on as our Father is a perfect gentlemen.
I guess that time is still coming for me then I don't ever get
Questioning of God
@@lucduchien I would not call it a rebuke and it is not the same as what this show made it look like Peter did. Peter feared God.
@@lucduchien "God can take it" is a very bad attitude. God deserves the utmost reverence at all times. The idea of screaming and shouting at the Most High is antinomian. How dare any of us talk to God with any disrespect.
God Bless you my brother love your work🙏🙏🙏🙏
I laughed at Peter ... being mad at God!
I cried when he dropped to his knees and asked for forgiveness!
Appreciate your deep dives into each episode. Thanks for enriching my enjoyment of The Chosen

Thank you again for today's Catechesis, you give the Scriptures so much meaning for our hearts to love it even more. Love it!
I do love this video and I love The Chosen !
Episode 4 is one of my favorites! Thanks so much for giving deeper insight to some of the details. So cool!
This triggered the memory of 3 people in my family who worked with repairing nets and a rough old Uncle who fished for a living his whole life from Garibaldi, Oregon.
You are a font of knowledge! I just discovered The Chosen at about the time you were filming this. I never expected to learn so much. Thank you for spending countless hours doing research to gather this information.

"Don't be afraid" there's something with these words that click my understanding that God knows our venerable situation of fear at all times.

Excellent presentation. I just learned a lot about the chosen ones’, Israel (humanity) drama and solution. Now more than ever we need to surrender to Jesus to overcome the trials to come (no, they’re here now).🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Brother
Sitting at the feet of Jesus. It's good to hear your teaching so clear. The three kinds of fish ftom the common to Sabbath and the small sardines. So inclusive.
Thank you for watching!
Brandon, I didn’t know Andrew was a follower of John the Baptizer! I love learning so many veins the scenes things from you! The way they used the fishing nets was another thing I didn’t know! Thanks
I know! It's one of those details I didn't catch for a long time.
Simon in the boat is me. Not so much complaining about the plight of the children of Israel rather my own. This has too often been me in absolute frustration. "What now God? What next? Please don't torment me. Guide me! Lead me! Do not forsake me! ... Oh ya. Be patient and wait on the Lord."
Scripture doesn't tell you what job to take or which home to buy or who to marry, etc.
Sending love from Rio-Brazil! 🇧🇷 Thank you for this amazing explanation! May The Lord bless you greatly!🙏🙏🙏 💖💖💖💖
You too! Thank you for watching!

Thank you for the clarification of the cultural time of Jesus, and the scriptures. I have never watched the series but it looks interesting. I will try to find it and watch from the first episode. 💖✝️
Thanks from Argentina
Thank you for the eye opening explanation..
If nothing bad ever happened, we would not see just how capable and willing God is to deliver us from, or sustaining us through it all! One of the most misquoted saying I've heard is: " God will never give you more than you can handle"..This is so untrue. God gives you more than you (on your own) can handle. In this way, you will understand what Jesus said in Matthew 11:30 "..My yoke is easy" Any burden is made light when you are yoked with The Lord.
this scenes flows always my tears
I love the Chosen, thank you for making these videos! ❤🙏❤
This is one of my favorite episodes….!

Haha. So glad you liked it!
Thank you again.

Brandon, good video. You know your stuff.
“I will sort them out later..”
it seems to me the time for sorting is upon us
Love the historical context. Thank you.
(African style)
Blessings
We don't see or notice these things because we are not theologians. Thank you for the lessons.
I’m glad it’s helpful 🙂
Four important words in the last scene: “I Am” as in the name of God and of course “Follow Me”
Have you noticed how terse scripture is with the most important lessons.
Such a powerful lesson in two words, "Jesus wept"
We as Christians need to stop attempting to tamp down the pain of grief that we witness others experiencing, rather we should come alongside, invite the Holy Spirit to join us, and allow the grief to flow as did the wholly Man Jesus.
As in "I am"
Man needs many words to try to describe what scripture "The word of God" does in so few.
