Looks like Pilot finally brought the Kakuno Family Series to the US market. So they already have names; mama, papa, boy, girl, and baby. And yes, nice jacket!
Thank you for sharing the new Pilot Kakuno Family pens, and the new inks are beautiful. Frankenstein and Captain Hook stole my heart! I might need to add those two inks to my shopping cart very soon. And your jacket is GORGEOUS!!!
Well done, Drew! I love to listen to you wax rhapsodic about pens, inks, etc. I can always count on you to fulfill my minimum daily requirement of whimsy. ❤
I love the colorverse glistening inks, they are one of the best shimmers on the market! I cant wait to try these. I might need them ALL!!!! The Blue Dragon is a fantastic base color! ❤
@@PaniOluteknitpick, but you can't filter out sheen, sheen a property of how the dyes themselves refract(?) then reflect light, shimmer is what you can filter out, it's your fault, they shouldn't be called sheen, shimmer and shading, those three are way to similar in name, it was bound to to cause confusion
Wendy Darling looks exactly like Ferris Wheel Press's Blue Cotton Candy but with shimmer. I personally love it because I don't use it for writing, I use it for painting and drawing.
New ink idea! Well maybe a new idea? I'm not exactly sure if this exists or not. But as the camera was panning over the captain hook ink, it looked like there was a black outline around the red ink. So that got me thinking, what if there was an ink, lightly colored but still visible, that had black sheen? That way your letters could have a black outline around them. And heck, I'd be curious to see what black shimmer looks like too.
💙 I love light inks for art! I never would have thought to try Wendy. It'll probably go with Strawberry Macaron and Sweet Honeydew wonderfully, thank you for swatching on camera.
Hi Drew!: SUPER enjoyable ink fest episode! Hope you do more in the future. That Visconti pen is just LOVELY! I really liked ALL the Colorverse inks! Only really liked Cap'n Hook and Crock colors of the others, except for Frankenstein! That one is NICE too!
I've been looking forward to the Blue Dragon inks for a while, but wow I was not expecting that much shimmer. I'm gonna have to stew on it to decide which one(s) to get. But also wow Hook. That jumps right off the page, shimmer or no.
Ink colors are sooooo addicting ~ As someone who's not a huge fan of how glittery shimmer inks are, I'm interested about that Dragon series 🤔 Also LOVE the Wendy one, but no idea what to use it for... and the Peter Pan green 😍😍😍😍 Your writing swatches are so nice~
This video was so exciting! I put Captain Hook, Frankenstein, and 3 of the Dragon Inks on my wishlist. Captain Hook is the perfect color for me, blue based mid to dark red. I just wish it had sheeting or shading, but that's why they make those glitter drops ha
Loved the ink exploration (inksploration?), Drew! My favourite inks were Captain Hook, Tick Tock Croc and Frankenstein! I hope there was a towel or something on the floor 😅 I kept holding my breath everytime you shook the pen out 😂 And that jacket - a total showstopper!
Loved this video. My favourites from the ones shown are Blue Dragon ( original & Silver) and Waeringeul Frankenstein. I generally don't use shimmer and prefer inks that are dark enough to be legible. However the shimmer inks here might convince me otherwise. Thank you so much for the indepth swatches! I have a Kakuno Fine nib with the face with the necklace. It's a proud EDC, love the nib's performance, great demonstrator and hardy. Great even on paper that tends to feather depending on the ink I choose.
I really like the Frankenstein, straight up blue Dragon and Hook. That Red appealed to me immediately. I sent a picture through IG of Diamine special edition German inks. Years ago I purchased Skull and Roses which I really love and have it in my Lamy 2K always. Beautiful dark blue with plenty of red Sheen. you can keep all of those illegible pale inks. I just don’t get it. I have a few and would be among the first I’d care to give away. Fun video. Thanks.
I test drove the TWSBI Black ALR 580, and it deserves the hype it gets, especially if you're a black ink lover like myself. Picked up Blue Dragon when it came to the 6ix, chose no shimmer, as a sub for KWZ Sheen Machine. Love the Dragon design on the bottle for this Lunar New Year.
eleanor.shadow,If I may relate my experience with the ridges on the section of my two-year old 580 ALR. I don't really prefer them;so I got an extra nib(or two) that comes with a clear plastic section and use that. I have heard from others that they like the ridges. For me they seemed to make the section slippery. Maybe the newer ones are less polished or something? The 580 is a great pen. Mine is Navy Bleu. I like looks of the Black better!@@eleanor.shadow
I havent finished the video yet but just had to comment. I have names for my fountain pens!! 😅 Pilot Vanishing Point Matte Black (M) = Midnight Pilot Vanishing Point Matte Black (F) = Eros Pilot Vanishing Point White = Amore Pilot Kakuno = Kiki I love your jacket by the way, Drew! 🤩
I currently have my daily driver inked up with the Wearingeul Frankenstein and absolutely love it. I do like the look of that Captain Hook though, will have to pick some up to try myself.
A penfriend on line was looking for a light blue ink. He lives in Europe, which complicates ordering from my end. I was thinking about Wendy Darling, but seeing her on the page pushed her into the "no" column Thanks. Good progress on the jacket, btw.
On Rhodia, I liked Blue Glistening the best, but on Tomoe River, I prefer the base Blue Dragon. I agree with you on Captain Hook. It seems like a nice, bright red, without looking orange. OMG, when you turned that Frankenstein bottle upside down...😲 The small amount of shimmer visible on Rhodia was disappointing, so I guess it's good that I don't really like Rhodia 😛 I definitely will try a sample of this myself.
Oh man, I used to watch Hook at least once a week on VHS when I was a kid despite being QUITE traumatized by the boo box. Which was made worse by the fact that I live in the scorpion capital of the USA 😖
I have the Sailor x Plus Snowflake pen. Mine came in a lovely giftbox with a 20ml bottle special ink Ice Gray and a nice notebook from Plus. You don’t mention the notebook, is that not included in the US version ? Love the Blue Dragon inks and your jacket is awesome Drew!
I really love the swatching! Favourites were Wendy and tinkerbell. Sometimes I like lighter colors for underlining my headings. I also use them to "highlight" words over platinum carbon black ink. Or to color in grids for tracking habits etc.
The Blue Dragon ink by Colorverse (with the gold shimmer) is the product that is most testing my ability to do a No-Buy through April of 2024. Thanks for amping up the temptation, Drew. Lol!
Ooh, I love the Frankenstein ink! I think I need to get some of that! I wanted to love Wendy and Tinker Bell, but although very pretty, they are way too pale for me. Reminds me of their Alice ink from Alice in Wonderland. A lovely pale shimmery blue, but way too pale for me as a writing ink. It would be lovely for artwork, though.
earingeul inks are alwwways interesting but most of the ones I like are just to light to write with. I am liking Capt Hook though. Frankenstein is pretty too.
Drew! I think your denim jacket stole the show!!!!! 😃
Looks like Pilot finally brought the Kakuno Family Series to the US market. So they already have names; mama, papa, boy, girl, and baby. And yes, nice jacket!
Captain Hook looks really good. I like shading inks better than sheen or shimmer and I’m a sucker for a nice deep red ink.
Love the jacket and all the cool inks, especially Captain Hook, tick toc croc and Frankenstein. ❤❤❤
Drew, it was fun spending time with you. We heard about this jacket. I couldn’t imagine it, but it looks really good!
Loved this longer sit down with Drew! So many fun new things!
Patches! Japanese has no plural form for nouns. So several Kakuno or five Kakuno, would be correct.
I think you just found Drew's nickname! 😄❤️
Drew, your jacket is fantastic and priceless!!
Drew you did a great video! I love that you showed these special inks on both TR and Rhodia paper. And you were funny as always. Thank you!
Love the Battle Jacket!
Thanks for showing off the inks! Sometimes the website photos don’t capture all the wonderful properties like having it shown in a video.
Thank you for sharing the new Pilot Kakuno Family pens, and the new inks are beautiful. Frankenstein and Captain Hook stole my heart! I might need to add those two inks to my shopping cart very soon. And your jacket is GORGEOUS!!!
What a great episode!
Love the Jacket!
Silver Blue Dragon, Hook, Croc, and Frankenstein were my favorites
All I have to say is *Bangarang*!
Yes, Hook really does look great, but the Blue Dragon with blue shimmer is the winner for me.
I love the new inks and your handwriting is beautiful, Drew.
Loved seeing the new inks in video form! Thanks for sharing, they are so gorgeous 😍
Well done, Drew! I love to listen to you wax rhapsodic about pens, inks, etc. I can always count on you to fulfill my minimum daily requirement of whimsy. ❤
The patch jacket!!!
Love your videos, Drew. Your handwriting looks amazing!
The Captain Hook ink looks really great!
The jacket ❤❤❤
It continues to evolve!
We need to see the backside - show off the newer patches too.
I love this channel sooooo much!
Well thank you! - Drew
Blue Dragon, Blue on blue is awesome!
I am so conservative with ink color.
Going to have to give this a try.
Thanks, Drew.
I love the colorverse glistening inks, they are one of the best shimmers on the market! I cant wait to try these. I might need them ALL!!!! The Blue Dragon is a fantastic base color! ❤
This swatching video was so fun. Would love to see more like this.
Come for the pen stuff... Stay for the awesome jacket.
This regular blue dragon looks amazing, i need to get a few of those...
I'm not much of a shimmer fan because of how high maintenance they are, but the base of that Blue Dragon is so stunning I might pick it up anyways.
You can buy needles with a filter that they use in some labs! It lovely filters out the sheen so you can have only blue :D

Drewww Brehhh.. the jacket is dope but the tshirt underneath… streets ahead!! ❤❤
Thanks Drew. Good demonstration.
The new Sailor is absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Yay for inks ❤
💙 I love light inks for art! I never would have thought to try Wendy. It'll probably go with Strawberry Macaron and Sweet Honeydew wonderfully, thank you for swatching on camera.
Captain Hook, Tick Tock Croc & Frankenstein--LOVE THEM!!

That Sailor Snow pen is amazing. So is your jacket Drew, well done.
Ink colors are sooooo addicting ~

Also LOVE the Wendy one, but no idea what to use it for... and the Peter Pan green 😍😍😍😍

The jacket emerges! (I guess those Wearingeul inks were cool, too...😂)
Patches! Hooray! I love the blue on blue dragon the most, even though I'm not a huge shimmer person
Thanks Drew! The new inks look good. Still trying to get through the last batch of samples I got from you guys.
Thanks for showing these on Rhodia paper
Captain Hook is fantastic.
The Sailor pen is so pretty, but I was surprised at how light the wearingeul inks were. I could barely read half of them.
I don't think you'd be able to see it with a fine or even a medium nib.
I bought the Colorverse 2024 Blue Dragon Gold ink, at the Atlanta Pen Show. It is a glorious ink with purple sheen and gold shimmer.
Drew's jacket! Woot woot!!! I love the label for the Wendy Darling ink. I can tell you that I am much darker than that.
Now that's an entrance!
Frankenstein is an excellent [Edgar] Winter ink 😉
Finally! The jacket 👍
I'm not a red ink person, but I love Captain Hook Ink. I totally agree :)
Captain Hook very nice, reminds me of my favorite red Diamine Poppy Red
Love Captain Hook Red!! Thanks Drew
Loved this video. My favourites from the ones shown are Blue Dragon ( original & Silver) and Waeringeul Frankenstein. I generally don't use shimmer and prefer inks that are dark enough to be legible. Hook vs Frankenstein. Think it would make a great movie
I really like the Frankenstein, straight up blue Dragon and Hook. That Red appealed to me immediately. I sent a picture through IG of Diamine special edition German inks. My favorites were blue dragon with the blue shimmmer, Hook, and Frankenstein
Love the video Drew! I think Tinker Bell looks similar to Ferris Wheel Press Hampton Harbor Sage, with different shimmer colors.
I don't need the new TWSBI, but I'm trying to convince myself that I do because look at it! So clean. 😍
Would love to see you have your own show touring workshops and studios interviewing designers and makers.
Here for Hook! Wendy is beautiful should have been two shades darker. Peter is handsome.
Love the jacket! And how far it has come since I saw it in person in SF!!!
How did you find the ridges?

@eleanor.shadow As Drew said, very similar to other ALRs, but imo, a cross between flat and ridges. Also never minded the OG ridges to begin with.
@@mellow-jello thanks. I have an inkling I wouldn’t love it…
I havent finished the video yet but just had to comment. I have names for my fountain pens!! 😅
Pilot Vanishing Point Matte Black (M) = Midnight
Pilot Vanishing Point Matte Black (F) = Eros
Pilot Vanishing Point White = Amore
Pilot Kakuno = Kiki
I love your jacket by the way, Drew! 🤩
Blue Dragon Blue definitely
Drew, I concur, Captain Hook speaks to me like no other RED.
I currently have my daily driver inked up with the Wearingeul Frankenstein and absolutely love it. I do like the look of that Captain Hook though, will have to pick some up to try myself.
That jacket is 🔥!
Dang, son! That is more like Nitrogen Dragon!
Frankenstein for the win…and your jacket!

Love the Colorverse inks & wish I could afford to import the Visconti pen.....maybe if I win the lottery!
Ugh that sailor pen I'd sooo pretty! ❄️
Starting the video with the Riker maneuver? I'm in!
On naming your Kakuno pen... I think Coral has already been named, it suits her 😅
Cool!
Cool Cool Cool!
The regular blue dragon and blue dragon blue if I had to choose a shimmer. I agree looks way better on the rhodia.
YOU NEVER TAKE TO LONG
Oh man, I used to watch Hook at least once a week on VHS when I was a kid despite being QUITE traumatized by the boo box. Which was made worse by the fact that I live in the scorpion capital of the USA 😖

What is the pen you’re using for your samples? I love the blue on blue and silver!
While I know on a Leuchtturm1917 I likely won't see the gold Captain Hook is such a nice red that I honestly will still pick it up
Do you all sell the dip nibs too?? I want one!! Dang how cool!!
OH MY GOD GOLD DRAGON ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️And Wendy is magical ⭐️
Also Captain Hook! How do I choose 1?
More ink splash 💦. Great show.
more ink testing videos please!
Hey Drew! Question, does deep pen requires special ink? Or the other way around, can be used deep pen in with fountain pen?
earingeul inks are alwwways interesting but most of the ones I like are just to light to write with. I am liking Capt Hook though. Frankenstein is pretty too.
That wendy ink looks perfect for painting skies!
Drew, I was patiently awaiting the release of Aurora's italic Epsilon. Where'd they go?!?!
