@@AndyWardle I’ve since made a video putting it up on the moors with my other tents lol 😂 I mentioned you, thanks for your inspiration over the years 👌🏻after carrying them and seeing the pack weight of the Hyena next to my Xmid I don’t think can bare lugging it to a camp again but the first time I was desperate to get out on my first wild camp…this tent made it all possible and now that weight is a distant memory ⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️
Watched this twice now, just to see you setting up up, nice to see a seasoned pro being 100% honest, not reading the instructions and not just cutting and editing to make it perfect, and it's a budget tent that you bought getting a real time look, see how she fairs after the Harris trip, especially next to ya mates cheap red thing🤣🤣🤣
I've got one. Used few times in past year. Loads of room for one person, width & length wise. Also good height for sitting, kneeling up. High hydrostatic as well.😊
60 odd quid for a fairly decent basic tent, you can't go wrong. Perfect for anyone wanting to try out camping without breaking the bank. Good to know there's products out there that folk can buy and try camping without spending a fortune
Yep. That’s what I’m highlighting here. I used the same tent for 4 nights on my recent trip to Scotland. With a staika and a soulo in the car. Tells you a lot. I’m liking this hyena. 👍
This tent is the OEX version of the Eurohike Backpacker 2 DLX which I previously owned and that is what made me buy this tent. I've used it in all weather for about 6 months now and my channel is testament to this. Although it has fibre glass poles, the gothic arch design and the way the poles are angled in the tent design gives this tent good strength in rough weather as i've found out. I've replaced the wire pegs with aluminium alloy arrow style pegs which are stronger and lighter. I use this tent for stealth camping as its cheap enough to get battered and bruised and replaced with another at the low price. One thing I will advise as an experienced Hyena 2 owner is to have the guy lines pegged out longways not sideways as you have done so. This will keep the poles taught away from each other stopping the inner contacting the flysheet preventing any condensation. I've covered this in my videos although I don't do reviews. 🫡
@@craigblackwood2601 I've actually explained it in a few of my videos but I'd have to look for it as I've done loads of videos. If you guy the tent out so the poles pull against each other, it will keep the flysheet taught and away from the inner and help against condensation. I'll explain it in tonight's video that will be out tomorrow 🫡
Spot on mate you can’t get vexed for 65 quid , like you say great for little site getaways 👍🏻, thanks for sharing Andy ,enjoy ya trip away mate looking forward to ya vid ,atb Deka 👍🏻👌🏻💯
I owned the Phoxx 2 but I just love tunnel tents for the vestibule space and extra height. The Hyena 2 is perfect for my stealth camps and although I do like the look of the Jackal 2, it's just that little bit bigger and the Hyena 2 is plenty big enough. I've looked at the Vango Nova and Vango Hydra but I still stick with my trusty steed which is the Hyena 2. 🫡
I have the same one,i removed the zip tag,as it was a pain, condensation can be an issue on the outer aslong as the inner doesn’t touch the outer you will be ok.
Used it on Harris trip 4 nights. Was perfect. Only got 1 night of condensation on red squirrel site. But the temperature really dropped. The rest of the time it was excellent 👍
Nice looking tent that pal and for the money,wow.. you are very right,it's very like my Vango tempest 200 but without the windows and aluminium poles. I really rate OEX gear so be great to see how it copes on your travels. Have a good un pal
Plenty of room in it bro and the porch too, bit posh getting a window in there as well. I guess the camping in it will be the real test. Safe travels. Ken.
Hi Andy, Can't be vexed at that for £65, amazing value 👍 Enjoy your hols, love Harris but not yet made it to Uist so look forward to seeing your vids from there. Atb
Cheers. Loving the tent. A real bargain. I used it the whole trip. I only filmed 2 trips. One on the beach and we went to a bothy. That was brutal but great. 👍
didnt use my hyenna 2 this weekend but im sure those internal clips have a small loop to clip onto not the poles been a few month since i used it mind worth another check
@@AndyWardle I'm a kilt guy so no modesty here haha. Was thinking more of better halves traipsing wet crap inside because they won't change by a window (50Miles from any eyes.. ) 😂🤘
I've got one, it's actually a really good tent for the price, no rain is getting through it, not even in a solid down pour, tried and tested. My only gripe with it is trying to get the metal peg thing's into the poles, absolutely stupid design, I just push the poles into the ground if it's soft enough.
With This new upgraded version those pegs go in easy. I know what you mean though. I’ve had a couple of tents like it which were a nightmare. Feels like the poles about to snap. I used the hyena for 4 nights in Scotland 🏴 recently. It performed great. I may be out in it this weekend 👍
Well. Budget?? Hilleberg allak. Nortent Vern 2. MSR (the 2 man one. Can’t remember the name) The list is endless. Maybe folks can add to the ones I said.
Berghaus Brecon 2 man tent. I paid £110 from Tiso and it’s solid. Downside to that is it weighs in at 3.5 kg and can be tricky to pitch with the 3 long poles, but it would be good for a site tent I think..
Ahh it was just out the bag. Once I worked it out it’s dead easy. I’m in it on my trip. It’s been great. I tried for the phoxx 2 but out of stock. Hence the hyena. 👍
Lmao, I was sure this had to be the OEX Hyena (EHBP2) from Ur previous post Andy...!😄✔️💯👊 But I've never seen anyone make it look sooo difficult to put up...!🤣 (3mins max!) It's a great tent, of course it could be improved, but I love the space, shape, size porch & windows... Choice of full mesh or solid inner door is great in cold or heat & decent floor, about 10000-12000 HH probably... I've got other tents, but this is still a firm favourite 4season for me with mutt... Will look forward to Ur vid trip using it & maybe a review... It stands solid without guylines, unless very windy, it's under 3kg which ain't bad & at real nice price, good bargain for a good tent, imo...👍
Real world. Trying to fathom out how it went up. Now it goes up in 2 minutes I’m on uist now in it. Forecast windy later. So we will see. I videoed our first night but nowt since.
😄 Brilliant... Always the same with a new tent...✔️💯 That was a good crack though & it's a great tent...👍 2 minutes...?!!😯 U set me a challenge now...!😆

@@IvanS74 yeah I don’t like fibreglass poles. They’re brittle. Easy to snap. I’ll see how it holds up in the wind. It definitely needs an extra guyline on the back. Imo
Hi Alan, It is clear you struggled with the erection of this tent! I am disappointed you put the pole in the wrong slot, To have a good erection you need a bit more practice, a easy mistake to make, After you got it right it looked pretty solid! Cheers Mark.

My first solo camp was in this tent…I’m planning on taking it out for one last spin before I donate it to a mate. Brilliant first tent ⛺️
