I have searched and searched for the best layout for a van and have always thought Trent and Allie's came out on top. You did a beautiful job on yours. It looks great. I don't like the bed / table, seating combo either. I would be too tired at the end of the day to have to make up the bed every time. I say, leave the one cabinet open. Hey really appreciate the feedback! They’re 12v and draw 6amps each. They like the juice but honestly we rarely turn on more than two at a time. Fee free to reach out with any other questions about them!
The inside dimensions are 35x24. There is some room to shorten it length ways but not width because of our shower pan being 24x24. For the airhead we put the hose on one side and the handle on the opposite so I suppose you could put both on the same side and also do a smaller or custom shower pan and shorten it width ways by maybe 3 inches or so. Height wise we can’t afford to make it any shorter bc of our height (Jelaine’s 5’10” ish and she’s the shorter one).
You guys did an amazing job on the build. I love it! I have a Promaster as well. Do you feel like having the fridge, water tank and shower make it feel like it’s a lot heavier on one side. I want to do the same thing but worried about that.
Did you or have you considered going with a larger water tank? And are you all able to shower and all that everyday or do you have days where you don’t shower to save water? Love the van by the way!
We think the water tank is sufficient - don’t want any more weight back there. If we both shower every 3 days then the water would probably last a little over a week. Depends on how many people, how long you shower and how much access you have to water to fill your tank. We always try to conserve water when taking showers and everything else!
They are of course more useful during winter and if you plan to go barefoot are definitely worth it. They do get pretty hot! We left them on accidentally all night and when we woke up they were too hot to stand on and would burn your feet! Ultimately we think it’s worth the money (assuming you plan to go barefoot) and the install is fairly simple. If you plan to wear shoes or slippers then I would not waste the money.
Thanks! We’ve just taken it on some pretty rough forest service roads. It doesn’t really like steep gravel hills because it’s got a lot of weight in the back and it’s front wheel drive. Other than that no complaints.
Wondering how you manage the grey and black water for your bathroom and sink. I think I heard a mention of a “ball valve”. Are the tanks under the van? How big are they?
We don't have blackwater bc our toilet is a composting toilet, so all if the waste stays inside a lower compartment of the toilet until we empty it. Our grey water tank is seven gallons and has an electric ball valve on it.
