Putting the glass back helps keep dust from getting inside the cabinet. I would put plants inside as well so it would keep the humidity up. Beautiful piece. Congrats on your store front
Exactly! Who wants to dust all the things inside. I would never buy a display cabinet without glass just because I hate cleaning and dusting. Cleaning glass once every 6 months is much easier than cleaning shelves and Knick knacks every couple of weeks
It's fabulous, and I'm glad you used the glass shelves. Because it's such a dark colour now, it lets more light in to be able to see the decor items. I agree that it looks better without the glass in the panels. It looks more modern that way, and to my mind, glass causes too many reflections that obscure the items displayed. I love it.
I think I’d like the glass back on the piece. The reason is I’d probably use it as a China hutch. In that case having the glass would help keep the items clean for use. Maybe simply offer them to who ever buys the piece. They could install it should they want it. Beautiful job!
you can still use the arch piece that broke. where it broke get it cut even and use the whole 2 pieces as one. where you have it pieced use it in a cabinet and use the cut line with a shelf to cover the piecing section.
It’s beautiful !!! I like the glass shelves because it’s brighter and it lets the displays grab the attention !! You could also offer the customer the wooden shelves- so they have the option to change it up sometimes . ( don’t forget to charge for those too ) I think this is one of your best transformations ❤
Great job!!! I've got a curio cabinet that I've been trying to buy everything that I needed to makeover and I had planned to paint it too!!! I had the same idea as you for replacing the mirror in the back of it and I've been debating whether or not I wanted to make wooden shelves to go in it or to put the glass shelves back in. After seeing your finished project I think I'm going to do like you and leave the glass out of the front and sides and then just go ahead and use the glass shelves. This is actually going to be a labor of love for me as well because this cabinet belonged to my Mom who passed away a year ago. My style is so very different than hers so that's the whole reason I'd decided to make it over in the first place!!! Now after seeing your finished project everything has come together on how I want it to look so THANK YOU & GREAT JOB ❤❤❤❤
I wish we had gotten to see the project in full view behind you. And a long and close up view at the end. So glad you are still flipping furniture! It's why I started watching and following a long!👏👍 Thank you!💜
Wow the cabinet was a labor of love but so worth the transformation. Putting the glass shelves in was a good choice. I think leaving the glass out makes the piece even more unique. The staging was on point. Great job!
Well, that is gorgeous! At this point, you're basically building furniture. Have you ever thought about pulling out the router and making a dresser from scratch? That would be a fun video! Well, maybe just a table to start :)
It looks so good! It has a modern goth feel 💕 I think putting the glass back in elevates the entire look. And helps avoid dust build up in the long run
I can't imagine working so hard on these projects and then letting them go! I would want to keep everything. The finished project is beautiful, but I can see the argument for the glass as well. Good luck getting ready for your store!
The cabinet came out great! Adding the legs was a nice touch. Love the glass. Please keep it. Gives it a high-end look. I think the wood shelves give it a heavy, chunky look. The glassy is much more classy. Lol congrats to you both on your new store. So excited for you. God bless
It's so great! I love how you've updated it and styled it! I think you should keep the glass. And I think it would be great to see what you're keeping for you and Nieman's home.
Love, love it. Beautiful and love the glass shelves. Leave the glass and give who ever buys it the option of wood or glass. I enjoyed seeing how excited you were doing this project. You are not only beautiful but so is your work.
I love it as you have it. No glass needed on the doors. I love the glass shelves it lightens the look. The black stain is great too. Another great Job. I wish I didn’t live so far away I would come To your shop grand opening. I am so happy for your success. You 2 make a great team!!
Love the transformation! I think using the glass shelves was the best option. It keeps the dark cabinet airy. When it’s time to sell I would offer it with the shelves if the buyer wants them. The glass panels would help keep dust out of the cabinet. So rather than having to dust inside regularly, you would have to clean the glass panels. Either way the cabinet would still need to be dusted/cleaned. It’s beautiful!
Wow, I love everything you did with it! Using the glass shelves was a great choice. I agree with everyone who said keep the glass for the buyer to decide. Personally, I hate dusting, so even though I have kids who would put finger prints all over the glass, I'd rather clean the glass. I also have cats who would be inside the case all the time. 😸
I like the cabinet either way would be good, but I do like having the glass. Reason is it helps keep the items inside less dusty. I don't have to clean my cabinet as much as I do my open shelving due to dust.
I absolutely LOVE what you did with the cabinet! Glass in or glass out, maybe the potential buyer could decide what they want, but I think the piece looks AMAZING as is. Great job!!!
WoW!!! That is my fav piece you have ever done!! Love love it! I think you should keep the glass and ask the buyer what they prefer to have the glass sides OR to just leave it as is and give the glass to the buyer if they want it.
Lauren, I think most of your followers including myself are as crazy over furniture as you are! I loved hearing your pure joy and excitement over finally getting this cabinet! I have an arched two door cupboard which I got at the Salvation Army in early 2000's and it is my favourite piece so far I have used it as it was after a good clean, but soon I will be giving this the treatment it deserves and I have no idea which colour I am going to do it but it is gonna be amongst the furniture that I hand down to my niece and grand daughter! Your life is so inspiring thanks for sharing it with us!
I love this its absolutely beautiful! I think you should give the buyer the choice about the glass. It was worth every second of your hard work. Beautiful!
I wasn't sure about the dark paint wash when you mentioned it. I have to say you were right. It looks great. I would prefer 'no glass' but you might keep them and have them for an option if the customer wants them. The glass shelves let more light in. With a lighter color cabinet you could probably use painted wood shelves. Nice job, Lauren
Great job! I was certainly surprised by your re-creation. It really brought the old 90s oak cabinet into the new century. I think you made all the right design decisions. The black paint wash, new back made of bead board and the feet were the perfect update for this piece. The glass shelves definitely. Since the finish is matte, it looks best to leave the doors and sides without the shiny glass. But as other people have stated, you may always leave the choice to the buyer. Kudos!
WOW! WOW! WOW! Ahhhhhhhmazing, Lauren. I was having my serious doubts about the black. That piece is next level. The glass really takes it to that next level. SWOON!
Sue Wolfe- I love this project, Lauren. I think the glass shelves maje it more airy. I would leave the glass and let the buyer decide if they want to take it out of the door, etc. Personally, I hate to dust, so I like the option of having the glass. Great transformation!!
So awesome. Isn’t it great when you find exactly what you’re looking for. It makes the repainting etc more fun. I’m keeping my eyes open for a 5 ft tall curio cabinet 3 to 4 ft wide with 2 glass doors to paint and store long sleeve tshirts, sweatshirts and sweaters in. The search is so much fun. Love your channel.❤
I love the color change and other modernizations. It looks stunning! IMO I would prefer the glass doors. You either dust the shelves and contents or you wipe the outside glass, which is needed less frequently. At the end of the day it would be the buyer’s preference though, so leaving it as an option would be a good idea.
The cabinet is gorgeous and the glass shelves give it a clean look. The door is perfect without the glass - it’s modern and adds dimension instead of closed-in. Great job - can’t wait to see what you sell it for at your store (and definitely keep the glass for the door, just in case the customer wants it).
I like this cupboard a lot. Different ideas play around in my mind what you can do. One idea is to have all the glass in because it is a show case. The other idea is not putting it in to create an open space, flowing through space. I also have in mind how you can play with colours. The black cupboard with the golden brown/honey colour items look stunning. I also see in my mind that somewhere on the outside it needs to match with the inside, or the items on display, for example the feet is also golden brown and may be the door frame. It is a very versatile item. You can build replicas of this cupboard and play around with ideas of using the colours on the interior and exterior of this magnificent piece. One another idea is that you keep the mirror at the back, keep the inside golden brown, ( the natural colour of the wood), put in string lights around the mirror, paint the exterior frame black as you did, but just keep it empty, because you want to illustrate the idea of a "spieelkas" ( Afrikaans for a dressing table)
It looks beautiful and the glass I think, looks better then the wood. It give’s it a lighter feel in a strong unit. You do beautiful work, I enjoy watching your program.
Writing before even seeing. How exciting! Thank you. I would be scared to work on it,glasswise. Goody goody you two. Glass in,good mirror out. Color of Silk and paint wash really elegant. Cannot wait til your storefront opens. Lotta work . Proud of the two of you. Makes me wanna travel to Nebraska which I only passed thro before long ago. Stay well.
I am amazed at what you did with this!!! When I saw the pic, I was thinking, “What the heck can she do with this ugly, out-of-style thing?!” Taking the glass off was brilliant!! Don’t change it! You’re a creative genius!
Wow! A stunning transformation! Love the glass shelves....and taking the glass out of the front is a huge improvement. It looks so modern and beautiful!!
I love the way you finished the cabinet. It looks amazing!!!!!! leave the glass out. looks very high end. cannot wait to see what you do with the other one.
Love what you did with it. The little legs are perfect with that. That's exactly what I would have done if I were thinking about it. The legs make it in without, and the glass shelves are awesome. Because it's so dark in there
OMG....U DID AN AWESOME JOB ON THIS PIECE OF FURNITURE...I LOVE IT...BEAUTIFUL...😊 U HAVE UR VISION N U PUT IT TO WRK N IT ALWAYS COMES OUT GREAT!! 😉 KEEP UP THE AMAZING JOB THAT U DO..MUCH APPRECIATED N MUCH LOVE ❤
Love the results. I much prefer your wood backdrop versus the mirror. I say put the glass back in the front of the cabinet. I didn't catch if the light was reinstalled or not. The glass shelves are fantastic!! Thanks for sharing this. *Debbie*
Looks great. A suggestion: don’t decorate each shelf with the same number of objects especially if they are in the same location on each shelf. It’s always best to use an odd number of objects. The painting could be all by itself on a shelf.
I’ve never gone with trends; I’ve never had the money to change out furniture. Golden oak is beautiful and is my husband’s choice as well. I would have left it the way it was. That being said, you always do a wonderful job on anything you tackle and it is pretty.
Not a big fan of golden oak, however a fan of such nice wood that is stained. The cabinet was such a beautiful piece so updating with new finish and changing out the feet would have been my preference. I was sad to see the black finish and the bead board backing. You always do an excellent job and are a great instructor, but painting that gem was a disappointment for me.😢
I wish you would've shown what it looked like with the painted shelves you made. I was curious. But overall the glass was perfect with it. You have really good taste and i love watching your videos to learn more about flipping furniture. You make it look so easy. Thanks for being awesome.😎
I find that glass can reflect the light in a room and would take away from the clean sharp look of this shelf. It turned out great. What a great idea for that 80's oak that is in so many kitchen cabinets. I like the paint wash and how it embraces the grain instead of trying to hide it - which takes a lot of work and does not always look good.
It looks great! im surprised you aren't keeping it! I got one of these when we bought our home. I didn't think I would use it so I offered it back to the previous owner. You definitely gave it an updated look to make it not the 80s to 90s any more!!!
I think it came out fabulous! I would leave the glass off, but give buyer the option if they want you to add. I believe it would be easier to add back rather than take off if they want the way you have it.
I could never sell this beautiful piece! This is my favorite that I have seen you do so far. Please leave the glass. Can’t wait to see your store. You two are just getting better and better!
It is absolutely beautiful!!! I love the glass shelves. They really add class to it. I do not think you need to add the other glass panels. It is perfect just the way it is. Great job Lauren. I also love the way Neiman videos you and your projects.
Leave the glass for the potential buyer to decide.
ohh yeah! I will keep it incase they want it
I agree. Also I love the glass shelves, it gives the illusion of the items floating. LOVE IT!
i think you should ask the buyer as well. you did an amazing job!
Keep
Exactly!
Putting the glass back helps keep dust from getting inside the cabinet. I would put plants inside as well so it would keep the humidity up. Beautiful piece. Congrats on your store front
I agree. It’s actually easier to keep clean if you add the glass back, because it keeps the dust out.
This is exactly what I was thinking!
Exactly! Who wants to dust all the things inside. I would never buy a display cabinet without glass just because I hate cleaning and dusting. Cleaning glass once every 6 months is much easier than cleaning shelves and Knick knacks every couple of weeks
Totally agree with keeping the dust factor to a minimum!!!
Plenty of people have open shelves so I don’t think that’s an issue for most people.
I think putting the glass back in it would help to keep dust out of the cabinet. Love the style.
I love it.
That is absolutely amazing ❤
I like the glass, however, if selling, I would offer both alternatives. Turned out great! 👏🏼👏🏼
I think I’d like the glass back on the piece. The reason is I’d probably use it as a China hutch. In that case having the glass would help keep the items clean for use.
Maybe simply offer them to who ever buys the piece. They could install it should they want it.
Beautiful job!
Looks great. If I was the buyer I would prefer the glass panels on the door and sides. Keeps inside from dust and I like the shiny look of glass.
you can still use the arch piece that broke. where it broke get it cut even and use the whole 2 pieces as one. where you have it pieced use it in a cabinet and use the cut line with a shelf to cover the piecing section.
The glass shelves look soooooo more modern, classy & higher end! I love how it turned out so much
I couldn't imagine where you were going with it ... when i saw the reveal i was absolutely in awe at its gorgeousness !
Stunning!!!! I think the glass shelves are a great choice. You can add a light at the top and it will shine through.
Yep! It came with a light originally and I painted it black to blend in but its up there (:
It’s beautiful !!! I like the glass shelves because it’s brighter and it lets the displays grab the attention !! You could also offer the customer the wooden shelves- so they have the option to change it up sometimes . ( don’t forget to charge for those too )
I think this is one of your best transformations ❤
I really like the glass shelves! It turned out very nice! Leave all the glass and let the buyer decide.

The glass shelves are absolutely great... the unit doesn't need any more glass. The overall finish is stupendous. Joh.
It looks so good! It has a modern goth feel 💕 I think putting the glass back in elevates the entire look. And helps avoid dust build up in the long run
Agreed!

Absolutely love the way it is! Don’t change a thing!
It's so great! I love how you've updated it and styled it! I think you should keep the glass. And I think it would be great to see what you're keeping for you and Nieman's home.
Oh my goodness, I'm in love 😍
Personally I would choose the glass!
Honestly, I love it as is. I think you did a great job. But I hate dusting and trying to clean a bunch of glass, so this is 100% my style 🥰
It looks great! I'm glad you went with glass shelves, it allows light to move through it. I would put the glass back, it helps keep dust out.😊
Love, love it. Beautiful and love the glass shelves. Leave the glass and give who ever buys it the option of wood or glass. I enjoyed seeing how excited you were doing this project. You are not only beautiful but so is your work.
awe you’re too kind! thanks, Mary!
Love it! Glass shelves are stunning. Please don't put the outside glass on. IMO
I agree! too much cleaning!
I love it as you have it. No glass needed on the doors. I love the glass shelves it lightens the look. The black stain is great too. Another great Job. I wish I didn’t live so far away I would come

A labor of love but 100% worth it! Look at that beauty 🤩🤩 Absolutely obsessed with the arch
Wow, I love everything you did with it! Using the glass shelves was a great choice. I agree with everyone who said keep the glass for the buyer to decide. You nailed it!! Loved the final look. Painting the wood black and adding the glass gave it that high end look!!!!
Beautiful! If I were going to buy it I would want the glass. Dusting nightmare without it.
Absolutely stunning ! The glass shelves was a good call 💕
I absolutely LOVE what you did with the cabinet! Glass in or glass out, maybe the potential buyer could decide what they want, but I think the piece looks AMAZING as is. Great job!!!
Beautiful! The staging is perfection! One of my favorite pieces. Leave as is.
WoW!!! That is my fav piece you have ever done!! Love love it! I think you should keep the glass and ask the buyer what they prefer to have the glass sides OR to just leave it as is and give the glass to the buyer if they want it.

Soooo glad you out the glass shelves back in there. It makes it look so much more contemporary. Legs, 👍 great!

Ahhhhhhhmazing, Lauren. I was having my serious doubts about the black.
That piece is next level. The glass really takes it to that next level.
SWOON!
I love how this turned out. Leave the glass out, but save it to go with the piece.
Wow! The cabinet is just beautiful ❤ I love it!!
Sue Wolfe- I love this project, Lauren. I think the glass shelves maje it more airy. I would leave the glass and let the buyer decide if they want to take it out of the door, etc. Personally, I hate to dust, so I like the option of having the glass. Great transformation!!
thanks, Sue!
Nice call on the glass shelves! Almost cheered when you chose that bit of bling. Good job
Loved this project! Loved you teaching us with every step! You’re a wonderful teacher! Great video!
Stunning. Keep the glass for an upscale elegant look. Well done.
The glass is the right decision. Beautiful. Love watching!
The music added to the videos recently is really easy listening. I like it a lot!
So awesome. Isn’t it great when you find exactly what you’re looking for. It makes the repainting etc more fun. You have had success on your choices, trust your gut. I LOVE what you did. I think it is absolutely beautiful

Love it, put the glass back, you staged it beautifully, well done Lauren 👍
I love the way it turned out. I, too, have looked for a cabinet like this for my home for a long time. This piece is gorgeous in black. Great job!
It looks beautiful and the glass I think, looks better then the wood. It give’s it a lighter feel in a strong unit. You do beautiful work, I enjoy watching your program.
Love it! The legs and lack of glass make it so pretty. Good ideas.
I LOVE it with the glass it makes it look larger and clearer 😊
Writing before even seeing. How exciting! Thank you. I would be scared to work on it,glasswise. Goody goody you two. Glass in,good mirror out. Color of Silk and paint wash really elegant. Cannot wait til your storefront opens. Lotta work . Proud of the two of you. Makes me wanna travel to Nebraska which I only passed thro before long ago. Stay well.
thank you! I have literally been smiling ear to ear all week (: thanks for watching!
I loved how it turned out! It was nice as it was, but it definitely gave a 1980s vibe. The transformation gave it a modern look. Well done!
Great color, yes, with glass shelves , Good JOB !!!!!!!!!!
This looks beautiful. The bead board back looks great! I agree with the others that say leave the glass out and let the buy have the option.
What a stunner! Great job Lauren. Gorgeous!!!
I love the way you finished the cabinet. It looks amazing!!!!!! leave the glass out. looks very high end. cannot wait to see what you do with the other one.
The glass shelves look better, and leaving the rest of the glass out makes it more modern! Love it!❤
I love the way this piece turned out!
Stunning! Leave as is. It's perfect YES, LEAVE AS IS
What a wonderful cabinet, the dark stain is perfect!
That's absolutely amazing!!! I love what you did with it!
thank you!!
Love what you did with it. The little legs are perfect with that. That's exactly what I would have done if I were thinking about it. The legs make it in without, and the glass shelves are awesome. Because it's so dark in there
I would display it without the glass, but inform them the glass is available. It is so beautiful, great job.
Oh, Lauren! That turned out amazing girl! 👍

I like it without the glass. Did you put the light fixture back? I think lighting would be a good feature to have. Great job!😊
I’ve never gone with trends; I’ve never had the money to change out furniture. Golden oak is beautiful and is my husband’s choice as well. I would have left it the way it was. That being said, you always do a wonderful job on anything you tackle and it is pretty.
I agree. Oak is beautiful and very much a solid, classic timeless choice.
Not a big fan of golden oak, however a fan of such nice wood that is stained. The cabinet was such a beautiful piece so updating with new finish and changing out the feet would have been my preference. I was sad to see the black finish and the bead board backing. You always do an excellent job and are a great instructor, but painting that gem was a disappointment for me.😢
I like it just as you have it, without any additional glass.
me too!
I wish you would've shown what it looked like with the painted shelves you made. I was curious. But overall the glass was perfect with it. You have really good taste and i love watching your videos to learn more about flipping furniture. You make it look so easy. Thanks for being awesome.😎

I like the paint wash and how it embraces the grain instead of trying to hide it - which takes a lot of work and does not always look good.
The glass is so elegant. As buyer is also love the alternate shelving.
What a wonderful job.I love that cabinet. I thought that was going in your shop. You colored vases would look awesome displayed in the cabinet ❤ .
Beautiful transformation! Leave as you have it now. So gorgeous!❤
I could never sell this beautiful piece! This is my favorite that I have seen you do so far. Please leave the glass. Can’t wait to see your store. You two are just getting better and better!
Lauren!! Your best work yet!!! It looks so high end and cool!!!! Perfect!!!
I’d leave the glass out, you have done a great job on this piece! 😊
Love your choice of colors and definitely like the cabinet without the glass! Much less cleaning. Looks great, another fabulous flip for you.
It is absolutely beautiful!!! I love the glass shelves. They really add class to it. I do not think you need to add the other glass panels. It is perfect just the way it is. Great job Lauren. I also love the way Neiman videos you and your projects.
No glass! It looks fabulous! You guys do amazing work. Well done 😊
