Great tour of the South Trail, dude. Thank you for the revisit. You gotta watch that canyon for sudden flash floods. They can be lethal. Especially at the foot of Jemez Falls.
I'm a local, and since we have so few areas like this, it is unfortunately overvisited. Also, the East Fork River runs for miles upstream and parallels a highway for several, as well as being downstream from some small communities and households. Net result is the trash seems to gather at the Falls. Please, anyone who reads this, anywhere, clean just a little. Someday we might have a clean wilderness.

I could see that with flash flooding, thanks for the heads up! That would make sense that for the reasons you mentioned trash ultimately gathers at the falls that way... a little cleanliness goes a long way 👍

When I go to the Jemez, I gather a grip of wild roses, I go to Spence hot spring, climb into the little hot spring cave, and wash my old hippie body in the pristine hot spring, as the frogs hop around like a fairy-tale wonderland, it rains right off of the roots that hang in from the top of the cave. God is everywhere that there are flowers, but Mary is more associated with roses! Great video, Sir! Can't wait to get back!

Love the under water shots especially starting @ 7:25, and this guy does not have the camera in his face like so many, he has it away from him so you can see the scenery.

Thanks man! I appreciate it that. That was definitely the goal with getting a GoPro... to be able to capture my surroundings a lot better for the pleasure of the audience. Thanks again for checking it out!

The Jemez are very beautiful but also quite close to Albuquerque and its population base.

Thanks, it's nice isn't it. Really pleasant day trip from Albuquerque. Did you see that falls right on the road a few miles back down. It's not an adventure in ANY way, but man are the rocks cool.

So how long was this hike? I look online and it says only 1/4 mile but it seemed longer watching your video.... to find it do we just type in Jemez falls trailhead? Is that were you began? Ok thanks for any info!

Yes, great questions! You are correct. If you walk from the Jemez Falls Campground area, the walk is about 10- 15 mins. I wanted to put in a lot more miles that day & wanted to explore more, so I started from the Battleship Rock Picnic Ground. It ended up being 7- 8 miles roundtrip. You can find different trail maps on the Alltrails app. If you enter "Jemez Falls" it will bring up all the different trails offered in that area... some longer and some shorter. It all depends on the kind of adventure you want to go on. Hope that helps 👍
