- Transmission Calibration procedure for the 450-700 j series dozers. The H series will be very similar along with 750-850j dozers. This calibration will need done anytime replacing speed sensors, or just about any kind of electronic sensor on the transmission circuit, pump or drive motor replacement etc. We had to replace the complete transmission controller on this unit because of age and corrosion along with high hours.
Hope this helps out and subscribe so you don’t miss out on videos

Thank you so much got my computer out of calibration if it had not been for you I would have had to haul this almost a hundred miles and pay them hours to fix it thanks again great job 👍
Glad it helped
Please help I got 850 j not releasing the brakes
I love using those new dozers! My friends dad had many of them! I was scared to buy one used because of the electronics! I wish i lived next door to you! I would buy one! Great job!
They are not to bad once you figure them out. Hopefully this video will help some people
Had a 450 H the track sensor went out & track would just shut off without warning...Ended up being the sensor on the opposite track (the one that didn't shut off) I remember the book showing 33 steps to recalibrate it... First time we had Deere come fix it .. second time we knew what it was...lol
Keep up the videos very informative...Thank Dirt perfect for sharing ur channel..At first I wasn't impressed with the problems he had with the 850j but you impressed me with how you handled the situation... Hats off to you..!! I enjoy your channel 🙂😎
Thanks
Thanks. I learn something new every time I watch.
Interesting 4grand wow plus you know another 4 grand for Deere to calibrate most people could not do this themselves. Fine work on your part to decipher all this info and understand it.
Thanks 👍
Hi Quint enjoyed the video I retired at the right time and retired in 2017 thank God put up with s*** like that it's much easier to fix a cotter pin that is falling out then it is to mess with all that crap the guy I sold out to I don't know how lucky he was I had up-to-date equipment but I had not bought anything with electronics in awesome shape to keep from having to deal with this kind of stuff that you're messing with period what can I say thank God I'm a Country Boy. A country boy in the excavation business I don't know I don't think you could be in the excavation business without having a it college degree
It sure is different now
I watched the video 5 times took 3 times to stay in the right sequence high school education dealer told me I wouldn't be able to do it with this video I showed him and saved about 700 $$ great video just have to pay attention to the steps
Yeah bud I was just want to say thank you. And it will definitely be helping me again thank you
Great video. Sure would be lots more helpful if you would show the steps for an 650 h. The steps are totally different and I can’t get pass the step after you push the Next button.
Anyone having this same problem?
Great knowledge
On a 650j what should the min and max voltage be on the decelerator
Thank you so much for your videos , you had mentioned the Milliamp adjustment on your trans. calibration video I have a 06 850J that is pulling hard left over 2.0 speed or over 16k rpms it will not fix itself doing the drive calibration off computer and I did notice the Milliamps are half the value in reverse from one side vs other. Do you have a video on adjusting the Millsamps?
Thanks again , Gus
Could be a weak pump or drive motor
Check the pressures
650 h won’t track straight to save its life. Erb put two new speed sensors and wheel motors. One went bad so replaced both cause the same age. So I’m gonna have to try this.
Could be
Also on the h series I believe there is a third speed sensor on the pumps hopefully they checked it
Man wonder if there is a way to Relocate the TCU in effort to prevent this from happening in the Future..... Where they have it mounted is not very wise for anywhere that experiences rain or snow.
Yep
I like the 750j and 850j where it’s behind the dash
Thanks for the video. I have 750c series 2 and am wondering if it needs the same part changed. It last started and moved a bit a couple days ago and then stopped working 20 mins into calibrating it, but most of the time the com light on the trans controller won't turn on. When the com light does come on for a second like it's supposed to communicating with the dash it will work. The rest of the time, when I turn the key the com light won't light up at all but the power light still lights up and the beeper sound still happens. Would this mean the trans controller is bad or should I be looking for a short in the wires going between it and the other components? What steps do you take to know if that part needs to be replaced? Any help would be appreciated.
Those are a little different but it could be
Some code would help point in the right direction
Another great informative video! Keep them coming. Got a question for you. Do you know if a Dresser TD8E shares components with the earlier Komatsu D32,38,39?
Not the early ones
The only ones that are the same are the Dresser Td-7 8 and 9 H series is
The equivalent in Komatsu is d-32 d38 d39 -1 series
Built from about 1996 to early 2000s
Some of the steering brakes I think are the same on the td-8e series as the -1 komatsu
Hope that helps
Please help i got John Deere 850J no power coming out from TCU but is going in what could be the problem there
is it just as easy to replace the instrument cluster???
Not really
I I like your explanation in setting up the computers but I have a question what do the numbers and letters mean on the sides of John Deere tractors and dozers and excavators? Does it mean the model number or something else?
Yep
Series and track setup
Maybe I’ll explain in a video
@@C_CEQUIPMENT yes I would love to that video, thanks 👍🏻🇺🇸
We have a dead 450j at my vocational school. Administration will not give me the money to fix it. Do you have any leads on used or discount priced TCU? My students would love to have there dozer back. Thank you ask dirt perfect about me?

I may be able to help
My 2005 450J put a code F3x4 it wasn’t hot I cleared it now it just keeps throwing code F311 and won’t move … what’s your thoughts ?
Could be an controller
@@C_CEQUIPMENT no way of telling without having another controller to try in it ?
@@greggoscenski8177 yea
I normally grab another controller and try
I have been using a place in north Carolina that’s rebuilt 2 so far with good luck
About a 1/4 of the price as a new one
Thxs !!! Your videos are great .. thanks for all the info damm it really helps
Well it is my control I cleaned out with a vacuum and resealed it cleared the code and it’s working …. Not sure for how long but if you could turn me on to that place that rebuilds them for the 1/4 of the price I would appreciate it
👌👍👍
Thats nice to now. Those are good Dozers. Now the K is it the same on them also. Or do you have to call John Deere.?. Just womdering is all. Im partial to the 850K LGP..Ive been some places with those that You wouldnt or couldnt do with a CAT....I only wish they wouldnt have all the Air pollution shit on them. Because if they didnt I know they would be a bigger Beast...Now I was told that the 850K has the same engine as the 950K.and 1050K. Do You know if thats true...Great Video thank You for sharing ..
The trans will calibrate in a similar way
So the 850k had the 6.8L engine same as 700
They went down to a smaller engine I guess for emissions stuff be cause the 850j series had a 8.1 or 9.0L engine
The 950-1050k have the 15L engine
@@C_CEQUIPMENT Oh ok. Thank You...
Why would my dozer start moving on the 2nd part of the calibration?
They may creep a little
I’d say your pcp needs adjusted
Probably won’t pass calibration
@@C_CEQUIPMENT it was more than a little. It would stop right after the first part during calibration but let it pass after removing and reinstalling the speed sensors. Also made it to the 3rd part once but would still turn to the left side more during that process.
do you sell the damaged unit? I need it for an internal study, please, any contact?
I have them rebuilt
@@C_CEQUIPMENT price?
Greetings guys, I'm from Puerto Rico, I have a John Deere 2014 model 450J. I've put the 2 speed sensors on the rear motors and the team is still looking to the right. If you know how to help me, I appreciate it
I already did a complete calibration turned off and the equipment tells me that I accept the calibration I have no active codes only 1 saved stored I have TCU 522450.17
Is it reading a speed via the speed sensors on each side
You should be able to pull that up through the dash under live values/speeds under transmission
is that turned on or off?
I can only see the speeds that the left and right motors are going but I can't slow it down and it keeps looking a little to the right
When I go to forward low the dozer starts making circles on its own?
Could be one of the speed sensors
Yea it was at the dealer for a year huge bill and didn't fix anything same problem even loading it up there to bring home, the changed speed sensors and one edc,but it was fashing as if not calibrated so I followed your cal and when I got to the forward high it started making circles
@C_CEQUIPMENT when it's making circles if I hold hard over the opposite way till it turns one revolution and then take off straight it now works fine ,with a slight pull to left?
@@rayshowalter3531 hard to diagnose without seeing in person
Is it reading rpm’s on engine, left and right track motors?
Not sure how to find that I have to look it up
4000 bucks.... man they may as well give you a new dozer with it. good grief. :-)
