i am loving your videos, found a 450c at my work that everyone assumed was dead, got her to track but needs some love, gotta get her across the park and to the shop soon, probably by trailer.
@@hoopiemadeOh she runs and tracks (sorta) both of the clutches were frozen, probably due to neglect. I freed em by rolling the tracks backwards while in neutral with a Skytrack, now only one is stuck again cause i tried to turn it, going to have to take all the linkage apart in there and free em up on the shafts bare minimum just to get her on a trailer.
Good video, enjoyed it thanks,I have a 450c and it has the side shift and no turbo, not making a lot of sense but it is what it is, mines a 73' in like new shape and it works awesome, love it...good to know about the non riveted junk bands thanks...
Talking about the B model, my cousin who is a retired heavy equipment mechanic says mine is a B and my shifter is in the floor and I don’t have a turbo.
The straight 450s had the floor shifter, it was moved to the battery box with the 450B, some 450B's have the turbo because John Deere when changing the assembly line from a B to a C would simply put a c engine in a b if they ran out of the b engine. I have a 450B dozer, bought it in 1981, I had a 450B loader and it had the turbo engine in it.
I found the brake bands at a company in Buffalo New York allegedly there made by the Amish in Ohio. It was more than triple the price of the eBay ones the name of the company is.Conequip construction equipment parts
I have a 450 B as well and I just called John Deere dealer and they say they can’t get the bottom band anymore. They can get the top band so other than that Chinese crap do you know a place that sells the bands top and bottom?
I recomend sending them out having your factory ones relined. But If i had to buy aftermarket ones i would get these ones. www.steeringclutch.com/AT129806_AT129807_JOHN_DEERE_JD450_JD450B_BRAKE_BANDS.htm

I would just make sure they are not geting them from broken tractor. They have a store in ohio near amish country.
I specifically asked that and again allegedly they’re made in Ohio. We shall see.
