HOW-TO: Change 1998-2010 Ford Ranger front shock (coil spring suspension)

Here I walk through changing the front shock absorber on the driver side of my 2000 Ford Ranger. The process is identical on the passenger side.
Being 2WD (RWD), my truck's front suspension is coil spring rather than the torsion bar seen in many other how-tos seen on here. Hope you find this useful.

Did it make the front end any taller? Mine is super stiff And sits a little low.
