The thing you'll find about most places in Africa is that people don't smile unless they have a real reason to, which is why when people smile at you there it feels very genuine, unlike the west where people wear a smile like a mask whilst hating on you at the same time.

I just left Nigeria last month on 5/9/23... for my 1st time After staying 2 weeks...love the fact someone blogged the real Nigeria! I was afraid to go until i seen myself its nothing what i was told. Southwest states are very safe. .went all over tho. Make sure you bring plenty cash due to cards dont always work and money issues at Atm. Nigeria is a cash country! VICTORIA ISLAND, IKEJA, LEKKI VERY SAFE tourist areas..beautiful areas....I stayed in IKEJA at the MARRIOTT! Beautiful hotel! I even went thru many states up to Osogbo osun state and even went to IFE to see the prince of ooni ife palace on a private tour. So much history and it was safe. @@1NatureGod Nigeria is in sub-saharan Africa , like the majority of african countries.
With the exception of the Northern african countries ( Egypt, Morroco). Most Africans have dark skin and yes most Africans are Black.
ALL shades of Black reside in Africa.
Thanks to colonization and globalization. There're a lot of Expats ( whites) and mixed race individuals in sub- saharan Africa.
Plus, within the last decade, Africa has been invaded by lots of Chinese entrepreneurs / immigrants.
So, certain countries in sub-saharan Africa have experienced an increased in the mixed race population.
However, Africa is still mostly Black.
Truth be told, some africans only realize that they're BLACK, when they travel overseas and the Whites remind them of their blackness.
In Africa, people don't like to talk about skin color. That's why africans (especially the Black ones) are very welcoming to All.

FYI: When Obama visited Kenya for the first time. His sister took him to a " nice" restaurant. Where they waited for hrs, while white patrons were given tables and preferential treatment. This happened in Africa, in a mostly Black country.

As a "Black" man, it's important that we respect each other's wishes. If WE don't/can't respect each other, how can we POSSIBLY expect OTHER people to respect us? If they had an issue with people, not just you, using cameras to record.... you should've been ok with that and let it go. Perhaps they're trying to keep certain aspects of Nigeria FOR "Nigerians". From what I gather, they've ALREADY been put in a position where they've had to deport foreign nationals for one reason or another. Most likely, it was due to a lack of respect toward the Nigerian people.
