Spark plugs set off the combustion that makes your vehicle's engine go. Old dirty, worn, or over gapped spark plugs will hurt fuel efficiency, and make your engine run poorly. Spark plugs are a regular service item in the 50 ,000 to 100,000 mile range on most modern vehicles. This video shows you how to install new spark plugs on your 2007-2016 GMC Acadia.

the engineers that designed an engine that requires removing the intake manifold to change spark plugs are $%$%$#

It don't require removing the intake. Thats a way for the dealer to charge you over three hours for a 20 minute job.

Wow. Remember the days when you could pop the hood and see the spark plug coils? Or at the most, just remove a plastic cover to get to them?

Thanks for the video. I watched several times before I did mine. It was much easier than expected. I cleaned out the throttle body while it was apart.

This is a great video, but a couple of things to consider: if your Acadia has a lot of miles, those spark will be dicey to get out. They’re gonna be incredibly stuck and leverage is tough down inside those holes. I shattered the porcelain on one plug and spent hours trying to retrieve the pieces out with the plug screwed in so that nothing would drop into the engine. Also, hoses and those wire connectors will be very stuck as well as well so use caution trying to free all the parts up. The manifold was also extremely stuck to the engine and required all the strength i had to yank it off.

Well done! I like to see another mechanic work like I did/do.
It's hard to be retired because cars keep showing up. Again, I appreciate your continued mention of important bullet points! Keep it up!

    Good video, thanks!
2016 Acadia 125,000 miles first spark plug change. No misfires, but the plugs were almost 50 thousandths gap. All bolts, plugs, coils came out easy. Some plastic parts were brittle. CCV tube snapped. 3/8 fuel line fits snugly over snapped off plastic tube. Panduit ty wrap posts fit nicely in place of any snapped factory harness mounts.
One comment on the gasket. Felpro is just like the original which is not designed to adhere to the upper manifold, you would have to hold it in place under the upper manifold as you install it. There are two lower alignment posts on the gasket that center it on the lower manifold. Then carefully replace the upper manifold. There is enough room to see the gasket as you align the upper manifold with the 2 large upper alignment posts on the gasket. Yes, a little more work than an old school plug change, but this is still an easy job.

No need to remove the intake manifold. I replaced all six plug with out removing it, saved a ton of time, only took about 8 minutes per plug

Love the tutorial video! I just changed my 2014 Enclave and was able to change all 6 with the intake on. There was plenty of room to get my big arms to the back three. This was actually easier than my 2006 Escalade ESV.

Thank you for your post. I have 2014 Buick Enclave too. I will replace the plug today and I don't know if I have to remove the intake, even I could see very clear the 3 plug in the back with intake on. Now I could replace today and don't have to remove intake.

If your confortable to do this job after watching the video, you can do it easily without removing the intake. If your short like me just let the air out of the tires to get at the rear plugs. Easy peasy.

Do not need to remove the intake if it is the small black intake like this one. if yours has the larger silver style intake, it DOES need to be removed to do this.

I think it depends on the model. I have a 2011 GMC Acadia Denali, theres NO WAY to do it without taking the intake off. I can actually get the back 3, but there’s not enough clearance for the front 3. I did see videos where people could do it with out removing the intake. Weird…

model 2013 and after, you don't have to remove intake. Early models, need to remove intake
