I remember when this came out, the duo explained this was about abortion due to society's pressure on women. In the MV, Lena and Yulia were portrayed as reckless women (Lena implied she is a prostitute) and Yulia is a young pregnant woman shunned by society. Ironically, Lena who also was a woman persecutes Yulia. The execution was the metaphor for the unwanted abortion due to society's pressure. The call at the end is the hope of salvation, but it was too late. Yulia shared that this is important to her especially because she had undergo abortion in her teens in which she regrets. She had to go through abortion to save her image and her career.
Damn I never knew that! These girls are so underrated and we honestly don't deserve them.

The distopian theme is the greatest essence of Tatu. It's hard to find music like this nowadays. The 2000s was great with Tatu and their original concept.

The truth is that I think they are average pop artists with occassional flashes of genius like this (which did actually happen to Lena, let's remember, and so, powerful and brave as it is and however much I love it, they HAD to tell this story to prove they were ANY kind of WRITING artists!). I believe that Lena is the noteworthy one, but they would both be a cheap trick in the post 90s Western world outside of the US Bible belt, very much 'those particularly visually titilated straight man/alpha lesbian(the more testosteroney human being)'s fan service! Gays were already cool over here, especially lesbian; and they were a music producers cheap trick and lie. What makes them Iconic, and I would also use this word, is that it meant so much to Slavic block LGBT young people at that time, even, to a lesser extent, knowing the lie.

I used to love t.A.T.u as a teenager but now that I'm 29 and re-watching their videos, I love them even more. I now understand the poetic meaning in their videos and see the little hints and messages that they put out there. Whoever helped to compose their videos was working in an act of genius, that's for sure!

I love the twist at the ending. The one with the death sentence (julia) must have been innocent all along. The call was just too late to save her from the firing squad. This video and song should get more credit. It makes so much sense and its so deep in meaning.

@Морфик да, тоже видел, но полностью не посмотрел, ибо в тот момент времени не было. Зато я читал в инете в виде текста интервью Лены и Юли по этому клипу, называется "Расстрел вместо аборта", оно очень тёплое, душевное и по сути. Рекомендую!

This song is so underrated, together with the Russian version, which you should always count in, because the lyrics are mostly deeper than the englisch ones.
The layout of the video, the double and triple meaning of the lyrics and the scenes, it's so beautiful!
It's a critique for society in more than just a single way. It's a critique how we listen to media, how we like to believe in scandals more than in the real truth of the story and a critique about the whole system of justice or better said, judging people by looking at them from the outside or further distance.
Both women can be seen in their underwear, one pregnant.
Many people made a fuss over it, but there's a very deep meaning behind it.
As long as the one is wearing her guard uniform and the other one the white robe, you will judge the guard as the justice bringer and the white robe wearer as the criminal, but as soon you see these two pretty women just like they are, im their underwear, without a uniform or a white robe, the feeling will change in an instant.
The music video makes it super clear, how fast we are willed to believe in what we see and judge with oy knowing the true depht of the whole situation.
While watching the video your own few is shoftet over and over again, till you see the pregnant woman in underwear, beautiful and sad.. nothing but a poor, pretty girl, hurt and destroyed.. suddenly the guard looks more and more threatening and the women that is getting shot, has become the victim in our mind, while before whe where absolutely able to judge her guilty, just because the other woman is pretty and wears a guard uniform, but in the end both of them are so mich more than what they look from the outside. The message is very clear and communicates a lot different things. Very good!

I feel as though, sonically, this song is the sequel to 'Not Gonna Get Us' just how the music ebbs and flows and builds up to such high peaks is truly something I can only associate with how t.A.T.u. makes music. Stunning.

The not-EN version of this video is much more powerful. During the execution scene there are obviously rich and high-class people standing on the walls drinking and carousing as they wait to witness the firing squad. The English version is considerably tamer, and that's not even counting the nudity in the original version.

How is it even possible for a song to bump so hard, like they seriously were way to good to us making this hit...
Put all their videos together in context and you will have a story: There are two school girls dating (All the things she said) but nobody understands them and they decide to fake a bomb (30 minutes) and then have to escape (not gonna get us). Then the redhead starts receiving strange calls from a lover (show me love). Both girls had a fight (All about us) and they broke up their relationship (friend or foe). Years later, the redhead decides to join the army and being a $lut at the same time (but she never forgave Yulia), Yulia ends up being a criminal after all the people she k¡ll3d (white robe). At the end, one of them is d3ad, the red-haired girl receives another call to f*ck and realizes that the beginning of problems and the end of their story was decided by a call. So, the last song (Martian eyes) is just the redhead singing she's dating lots of people, but she is afraid to spend the rest of her nights in solitude with the moon

to me this video is trying to represent the difference between someone in a position of power and someone thats considered a minority /who got caught doin the 'wrong' thing.
so both of them r prostitutes, but the difference is that lena is either protected by cops or sth, or just knows really well the system so she doesnt get caught, but yulia didnt, so she got caught and thats why they punish her.
at the end of the day they do the exact same thing, but since lena was more powerful, she was respected by those men and could still be the general. yulia didnt mean nothing.

I think this is one of Tatu's best songs...I still cease to be shocked at the end of the video though! I wish Julia could have been happy and believed she was beautiful here... I find it a bit unsettling ( for want of a better word) at the end , when that phone rings, and Lena looks towards, but not at, the camera..scary. Shame they started out drawing the wrong attention, as they did some really good songs..and not just from their debut album. I would love to meet them, I just hope Julia is happy , and Lena too. I would have said could the get back together, with a new image?? .. but sadly, I believe Julia cannot sing the same, after thyroid cancer? Despite all the controversy, I hope they are both happy.
