Some colleagues at a retail organisation were talking about George Michael's video TOO FUNKY and I highlighted to them that most of those girls on the video don't wake up for less $10,000 a day, I tell I was the laughing stock my colleagues calling me a liar. That's the day I realised I was ahead of time because some people didn't even know that you get paid good money for an ordinary TV commercial. But yes those were the WONDER YEARS.

I am 51 now so of course those were some of my best looking years and my friends and i were all having the time of our lives in our careers, relationships, the clubs and fashion etc. It's hard not to look back and be wistful. i LOVED watching Style with Elsa Klench, MTV's House of Style etc. It was a wonderful time to be young.
I was never into fashion, but during that era I was very aware of these ladies...I think all of us guys were. What happened to the idea of being a supermodel? I work as a Regional Visual Director for a Luxury retailer. Linda did some wonderful ads for us with Steven Meisel in the early 90's (her red head and brunette days) which I have hanging in my office. She was always my favorite from the early Chanel days and those ads which made me want to work for this retailer. Luckily, I did end up working for this retailer and worked my way up to my current position. Ironically ,Linda happened to be shopping with us in Beverly Hills on November 2012(such a geek I remember) and I was kinda shy and nervous in asking her for an autograph. But she was so gracious nice,and signed one of the posters of the ads in my office. I look at it everyday and think how she was one of the inspirations for me to get into fashion! Well, actually that and Fashion File back in the day;-) Love the web series..
I met her in the 90s along with the other two (on several occasions) and Linda was otherworldly in the purest sense of the term > She almost didn't look human or even from this earth . The perfection of Linda's beauty was beyond her flawless face and body, it was the aura and charisma she had (and probably still has) . You immediately noticed her the second she entered your visual field , but strangely enough you could actually feel her when she was nearby . I remember that the male model Greg Hansen (who for me was the most beautiful man in that industry) used to call Linda, the Sun because of how shoe illuminated and brought life to anywhere she was , but also because of the massive magnetic field around her that seems to attract everything and made people want to rotate revolve around her . I am not Joking here, Linda was truly out of this world .

I LOVE Linda. I don't know much about fashion, but when I look at her photos or her prowl on the catwalk compared to others, even the uninformed and ignorant can tell a stark difference. She BECOMES the clothes, embodies them, and transforms with each look. It is truly remarkable. I wish I could have been alive to have experienced her in the 90s when she was everywhere. Great tribute. She was the most extreme of the supermodels, the most sophisticated and high fashion, yet at the same time (as he said) could be quite earthy and Sophia Loren like. Very powerful beauty especially in the monochrome Lindburgh photos. I always felt exhilarated when I saw her face on a magazine. I'm not into fashion at all but she made it interesting, actually more, she made it compelling.
the supermodels from the 90s and early on were edgy and raw! Watching them on the catwalk vs the models today is legendary! Two complete different worlds!! You can feel their passion and their energy which was so nastolgic and hypnotizing!! They were the supermodels that you craved to be as a young girl.....supermodels that you can only hope and dream of becoming! They were goddesses in their own right and a combination of an exotic butterfly and a panther.....a delicate prowess on the catwalk!

We went to the same high school, Denis Morris, in St. Catharines. But she left as I was coming into grade 9. I did see the yearbook of her final year, she had big 80s hair. Funny story - my aunt's sister was Linda's accordion teacher and when her career began to take off she had to make the *tough* decision to leave behind the accordion. She played it on Jay Leno once. Linda Evangelista with her feet spread out and that huge instrument on her lap is a sight to behold!
If memory serves me right, Linda did a shoot of some sort in a rather grimey area in NYC. She was at a corner intersection, sitting up against an old brick building, perched on an old kitchen chair, dressed provocatively in something all black and ... you guessed it ... playing the accordian.

I love Christy and think she is the most beautiful and perfect face. Christy is an all-time classic beauty, whose purity must not be polluted and corrupted by this ugly world. She is Aphrodite in flesh for us mere mortals. Now, with that said, I find Linda to be more photogenic. Her face has the fierceness, drama, sophistication, versatility and adaptability that a true supermodel needs. She has the diva factor with that fierce resting bitch face, and the drama with those exaggerated arched brows and ever changing hair styles. Put her in any clothes, hairstyle and makeup, whether it is for an understated, androgynous, minimalistic look for brands like Jil Sanders, Donna Karan, or Calvin Klein, or an uber sexy and glamorous look for Versace, or a sophisticated and classic look for Dior, Givenchy, or Valentino, or an extravagant avant garde look for Galliano, she will pull them all off.

She’s my favorite supermodel ever, and honestly in my opinion the absolute best, most professional and versatile. She’s far above the rest because she not only was elegant and beautiful, but she actually enjoyed the industry she was in and she understood and had great appreciation for the artistry of high fashion. She actually wanted to be a model and her sincere passion for great clothing is what makes her so iconic. It’s almost annoying to see models say they don’t like fashion or mock the industry that made them a household name, I don’t think that kind of blasé attitude is appealing and makes me feel like if they aren’t actually interested in fashion in the slightest then why are the even taking modeling jobs?

The 1st time I saw Linda on a runway show I really was struck by her looks and I know right away this person will be one of the most beautiful sophisticated faces in the fashion world!
Definitely my all time favorite, and a legendary modeling icon! I continue to be in utter awe of her natural born beauty - her captivating smile, with the sultry pouty lip, and those magnificent bright eyes under that strong brow line...a STUNNING beauty, and yes a real actress, as Tim said!! Cannot say enough about what she brought to the modeling world!

G-Dragon is as close as anyone has come to being the TRUE chameleon and fashionista that Linda was and worthy of such a crown. I remember her walking past me on the street in NYC, and it was one of those moments when your not ready for full face beauty hitting you in the face. Same thing with Tyson Beckford, Beverly Peele, and Helena Christinson, to name a few. The models of the 19701990 the best.
We went to the same high school, Denis Morris, in St. Catharines. But she left as I was coming into grade 9. I did see the yearbook of her final year, she had big 80s hair. Funny story - my aunt's sister was Linda's accordion teacher and when her career began to take off she had to make the *tough* decision to leave behind the accordion. She played it on Jay Leno once. Linda Evangelista with her feet spread out and that huge instrument on her lap is a sight to behold!
If memory serves me right, Linda did a shoot of some sort in a rather grimey area in NYC. She was at a corner intersection, sitting up against an old brick building, perched on an old kitchen chair, dressed provocatively in something all black and ... you guessed it ... playing the accordian.

I hope Tim does read the comments left, so far we've had a 5 second intro from Yasmeen on the Chanel 91 video, wish he/style.com would post the full shows which they have done on some of the American and London designers, I'm certain there's so much supermodel footage we haven't seen and most of the 90s archive footage is from the fashion file episodes back in the day, I'd love to see a Yasmeen video as well any of the supermodels from the very early 90s. Please style.com can you do a longer episode of the supermodels from the early 90s - esp Yasmeen.

I've followed her career (and the other "Big Girls") from the early 90's until now, but did not truly APPRECIATE her tremendous talent until much later. Linda is a MASTER of her craft; THAT is why she is so spectacular at it. Anyone is who is truly great at what they do, is so because they've gained the Mastery of it. That is NOT easy to do - most especially in the fickle, ever-changing world of Fashion. One has to truly stand OUT from everyone else in order to be remembered in such a Monumental way. I love Christy and think she is the most beautiful and perfect face. Christy is an all-time classic beauty, whose purity must not be polluted and corrupted by this ugly world. She is Aphrodite in flesh for us mere mortals. Now, with that said, I find Linda to be more photogenic. Her face has the fierceness, drama, sophistication, versatility and adaptability that a true supermodel needs. She has the diva factor with that fierce resting bitch face, and the drama with those exaggerated arched brows and ever changing hair styles. Put her in any clothes, hairstyle and makeup, whether it is for an understated, androgynous, minimalistic look for brands like Jil Sanders, Donna Karan, or Calvin Klein, or an uber sexy and glamorous look for Versace, or a sophisticated and classic look for Dior, Givenchy, or Valentino, or an extravagant avant garde look for Galliano, she will pull them all off.

She’s my favorite supermodel ever, and honestly in my opinion the absolute best, most professional and versatile. She’s far above the rest because she not only was elegant and beautiful, but she actually enjoyed the industry she was in and she understood and had great appreciation for the artistry of high fashion. She actually wanted to be a model and her sincere passion for great clothing is what makes her so iconic. It’s almost annoying to see models say they don’t like fashion or mock the industry that made them a household name, I don’t think that kind of blasé attitude is appealing and makes me feel like if they aren’t actually interested in fashion in the slightest then why are the even taking modeling jobs?
She is a timeless beauty. Love her.
