    Thanks, your vid was exactly what I needed to repair the wall cabinet in the place I'm renting. The old holes in the plasterboard were loose, I drilled holes higher up and put it back in place with screwplugs

    I have used those brackets in the past when fitting B&Q units but the IKEA system is so much better and easier. Great video, thanks.

    Bought a house and embarked the journey of never ending DIY.
    Was fitting a wall cabinet for extra storage yesterday. Couldn't drill more than a inch with the cordless. Broke a drill bit, tried to cut the screws short but no use. Checked the walls 10 times for wiring,steel. Thought it must be something metal.
    But I guess it's the drill .
    Will buy an sds drill today and start again

      Quick update , bought the Titan sds plus £50.00 from screwfix and mission accomplished.

      @@gurdevbrar5782 it's possibly you hit lintel or some kind of steel reinforcement bracket behind the plasterboard.

      I hit flint with my old drill, couldn't make any impression on it. Bought an SDS and got through it in seconds 👍

    Im just embarking on diy. Have watched plenty of videos. My skill level is currently low. This videos content was very interesting/useful. Generally I found .... Excellent informative delivery Sir. Commentary brief, clear and to the point, complemented with great revealing video shots. Sound pitched right, not overpowered with music. The theme is 100% focused on how to get the job done. S..u..r..p..r..i..s..e. I've subscribed. Cheers. G

    Top tips thank you and perfect timing as just fitting out our kitchen and needed some tips and reassurance.
    I would like to fit wall units first, if I get measurements of tall larder unit first do you see a problem.
    This will help me get some units out of way before flooring.
    Many thanks

    Great video. What did you use to fix the wall units together with it didn't look like you used screws, and is it best to use an end panel when the cupboard is next to a wall so the door opens properly

  • @SBTRIS
    @SBTRIS 4 роки тому

    Really good video - cheers! did you mount the wall units straight into masonry? Would those rawlplugs be suitable for dot-and-dab plasterboard as theres a void between the plasterboard and masonry?

    • @michaelhannard7342
      @michaelhannard7342 4 роки тому

      It's actually a better idea to use frame fixers as they can come in 160mm length which will get a very good strong hold in the masonary as usually there is a gap between the plasterboard and the breezblock frame fixers will last longer than the rawlplugs used in the video

    Are those side panels clad ons or replacement. ? Also did you have to scribe panels back to the wall. ?

    • @how2d223
      @how2d223  4 роки тому +1

      This side panels are the same size as the side of cabinet. Sometimes you need to cut them on top it depends what you bought.

    • @Listermintsluesh
      @Listermintsluesh 4 роки тому

      Yeah thanks.. replacement colour matched panels are exactly same size as the side panel of the wall/base cabinet, clad on panels are usually oversized. Great to see how they fitted, very clear instructions thanks..

    If the brackets are 100% level, will the screw adjustments level things out?

    • @how2d223
      @how2d223  4 роки тому +2

      You can adjust it up to 1.5 cm up or down I think.

    You've missed out screwing the cabinets at the base, to make them extra safe. Also the design of these cabinets is really poor, not your fault. It means that even with 100% accuracy the cupboard are held on just one edge of the bracket, far better if the cabinets were routed out where the bucket goes to allow 10mm of the bracket rail overhang either side, which would mean that even with a slight error, the cupboards would fit safely and the surface area of the brackets means a safer hang. The design at present means conceivably you could end up with one bracket missing the holding flange, or just being held on one edge of the bracket. UNSAFE. You need to screw them to the base also, as otherwise you stand the chance of the cupboards being knocked and coming off the top brackets which is why there is a bottom chipboard rail to screw to the wall also.
