If you’re not comfortable just having the brackets resting onto on one another I used some pliers to bend the top of the bracket over and it locks into place. Then drill you holes at the bottom to be even more secure

So gives the critical info to draw a line 125mm down from the top. Also doesn’t tell you that you have to snap the single bracket supplied to form the two wall brackets. I don’t know why the instructions don’t come with a template to drill the wall for the fixing brackets.

The hangers just rest on the brackets. The ones I have used in the past actually hook over the brackets. What is to stop the cupboard falling off if knocked. I appreciate that once the bottom is screwed to the wall it will be more secure. But it does look a bit precarious whilst you are adjusting it etc

See the little corner plate at around the 2:00 mark, you drill a pilot hole through the plate through the back board of the cabinet, when the cabinet is then mounted and levelled you put a screw through the back board into the wall, which is obviously then reinforced by the metal corner bracket which is shown at 3:49. Might be worth watching the video again.

The round plate operated by screw B is what actually hooks over the bracket

The red screw locks the whole thing in place. Plus you have the two brackets at the bottom, and you may screw the cabinet into an adjacent wall or another cabinet

Don’t you have to drill pilots for the lower brackets and install plugs into the walls BEFORE you hang the unit and fasten the upper brackets?

Can anyone please let me know where to get spare screws for the bracket?
Also where to get a replacement bracket? many thanks

You can ask Wren to send you another bracket (which has to be snapped into the two brackets). Do a search here on UA-cam for lots of tips on different fixings to use for different walls.

125mm from the top line to the wall bracket. Is that right ? Seems a bit low, looking at the unit bracket on vid

Considering you claim to be ‘The UK’s No.1 Kitchen Retailer’ these installation videos are pretty poor. It would be so much more helpful if a proper fitter talked through the process offering tips and highlighting critical steps during the installation. Adding on screen text for key stages that you forgot to film or record voiceover for is a bit amateur!

I agree with the original OP. Who are these videos for then if not the so called professionals? The DIYer ? In that case they are pretty useless and Dangerous. They jump so much in steps and give no explanation at important Stages.

I'm confused now. The guy puts the brackets on one way to mark the holes but then screws them on the opposite way round......is this right?

The shape gives you the correct position for the bracket, but you don't want the edge of the unit sitting on the flat section of bracket, so you flip them over.

  • @sianpowell3059

Really helpful, but no explanation for which screw in the fitting does what. I'm assuming the red adjusts on the Y plane, but which one does X and Z and which one locks the fitting into place? For really big and heavy cupboards it's essential to get this right.

    • @davetw
      @davetw 2 роки тому +3

Right, this is missing from the video and caused us a lot of delay first time round. Obvious once you've got it, but diagrams on the leaflets are also not explicitly clear.
The 125mm line from the top is right, again that would be useful to state here.
The key is that the *round wheel* is what rests on the bracket. This should be pushed out before hanging, then drawn in to bring the cabinet to the wall.
The small top stud then pushes against the bracket to raise or lower to the top line, but it's a slightly awkward angle.
Red stud at the bottom pushes against the stud and locks into place.

Don't expect the Wrens Kitchens designer/surveyor to worry their pretty heads about that, they'll sell you anything you want. I've just fitted an induction hob for my son, the base unit was clearly not the right one for the job, it wasn't wide enough and I had to cut into the units both sides to get it in (but after having so many problems with wrong stuff delivered ie wrong worktops, wrong sink, tower units too big to get into the flat etc) I decided to make the best of a bad job, in short the only good thing about Wren is the actual product. They also didn't mention the fact that the induction hob would need it's own 40 amp supply, or that where the washing machine was intended to go was right in front on the rising mains tap and other pipework so wouldn't fit under the worktop, I had to sort all that out. The after sales service, if you can call it that was appalling but they took my sons money quick enough.

That is part of the the skill-set of the installer to know how to avoid things like that.
This is something that comes up not only for kitchens but even hanging a picture. For wiring the regs state that wiring must run vertically or horizontally from an electrical point, so if you are about to install a cabinet directly above a socket then be wary that there may be a wire in that zone. Other prescribed electrical zones are mm down from the ceiling, mm from the corner of a wall. As for pipes, it is probably fairly easy to work that one out.
If you are asking this question and are not confident then I'd politely suggest you do not install a kitchen yourself.
