  • In this video we use our Woodland Mills WC46 PTO Wood Chipper with our Kubota L2501 Compact Tractor to clean up a pile a tree service wood recently delivered to our field.
The wood chipper handles these green maple limbs without trouble and results in clean, fresh woodchips we can use for a number of things around the property.
I know I repeated that this is a 6" chipper in the video, but that is not the case...
This is a 4" PTO Woodchipper which means the opening is roughly 4" x 6". Most everything larger than that ends up as firewood for us but it would be nice to have a larger opening to account for irregular branches from time to time.
    Thanks for watching!

I repeatedly misspoke in this one 😂 We have got the 4" chipper; 4"x6" opening! 🪵

Totally agree with the handiness of a chipper! We attach a trailer to the back and haul off our chips wherever we need to dump them. It’s perfect for windstorm damage cleanup. The only problem is neighbors want to borrow it.

Awesome! That sounds way more efficient than cleaning up piles!

Oh man Mitch, want to road trip to my place with that chipper? :) I'm hoping to get one soon but I see that WM now has a brand new model that just fits my tractor's HP...hopefully it doesn't break the bank! Cheers, Alex.

My passport's about to expire; too risky. 😄 Judging by the specs, it'll probably break the bank, depending on how robust the bank is!

Kubota handles very nice at less than 20 Pto hp 👍

Agreed! I can bog it down if I try but it'll handle all of my chores so long as I slow down when I need to.

'Morning! It really is a family-friendly implement. My wife & mom have chipped in to help clean up from time to time too.

I’d like a chipper, but the cost can’t be justified now. We’re pretty stingy and convert everything 2” diameter and larger into firewood. The rest goes in a burn pile or rots in the woods. The little rounds are good for filling gaps when loading the firebox full. I hear you on the tree service wood. They cut pieces they can take down safely avoiding obstacles. They don’t pay attention to what someone can ideally use for other purposes. I’ve dealt with that on trees taken down on my property the past two years. And they knew I wanted to turn it into firewood. Basically I got 4 footers wherever they could… which wasn’t much.

Well said. I'm still glad to cut out the time-consuming steps to get hardwood out of the woods. Curious to start a cut-off pile our just incorporate the long and short bits into our regular supply... we'll see!

@@Academy_Farm I’ve done it both ways… mostly I mix them in, but now we have a small stove too so I separate them for that.

I have the WC68 and it certainly is a handy tool. I have it on the back of my LX3310, it does an awesome job. Thanks for the video
