I think Dodge has been doing cool things way before the Hellcat. They put a viper engine in a short bed pick up also came out with the srt4 neon in the early 2000’s

don't forget the Caliber SRT4. way cooler
It really goes back to the "High and Mighty" drag car that a group of Dodge engineers developed on their own spare time. They eventually became a factory-backed drag team, and members of their group were instrumental in developing little engines like the 426 Hemi and the Max Wedge. Their scrappy middle-finger attitude really became the persona of Mopar performance cars.

@@SenszR They easily can if they could, we cars like the 917/30 in the 70s doing 1000 hp reliabily, a production vehicle should do that today easily.
Though they could also do alternate means of making their cars fast. The drag pack is like, 7 second QT with 630 hp, it's not street legal but there could be some features transferred over.
I remember when motortrend posted about SRT saying they were blowing engines trying to get it right. And people were criticizing like crazy saying “it’s already been done quite being cheap and just put upgraded internals”. But the issue is that SRT doesn’t just run a few 1/4 passes like most people with 1000hp. They do 24hr road course testing which is a lot more demanding.
If you don't break it, you don't know how strong it is!

I think you're spot on David. I was never a Dodge fan or anything, but since they have leaned into their own identity I find myself excited and happy to see what wild thing they are coming up with next. All the German brands are downsizing etc. While Dodge just kicks down the door with a blower larger than most German engines and makes over 1000hp haha Absolutely lovely😂
Europe seems fixated on "smaller". Just not exactly typically associated with masculinity.

I remember taking a ride in the srt-8 when they first released the Challenger in 2008. 425hp was stupid fast then. Now we have double that. Or at least had that.
This is true I worked at Dodge for 15 years , started in 07 , as a Porter one if my job duties was checking in cars , I drove the 6.1 when it first came out ! It's the first one we had come in , I took it around the block , stomped the gas pedal & it scared the crap out of me , after the Scats , SRT , Hellcats & Demons , I got use to the horsepower after 15 years of driving them , I'll give credit where it's due , They are basically Drag cars , leave the cornering & braking to the other guys !!🤣💯💯✌️

Saab released the Saab 9-5 with a "BioPower" engine/tune in 2005. It was a flex fuel settup that was set up for e85 from the factory, and there are a lot of them running around, atleast here in Europe
there’s a few american cars you see from the mid 2000s with that can run e85 from factory, chevy tahoes and other dull vehicles like it. They all have a little flex-fuel badge on the back.
Ford did a bunch of flex fuel optioned Explorers or something in the 2000’s too, but not to make more hp.
All american cars since about 2002 have e85 compatible engines. This car isnt saying its compatible, its saying its tuned to run on e85 and wont run properly if its not on e85

As German Viper owner and MOPAR fan I'm both: happy that they did it once again but also furious about being neglected so much ... I hope that the support for the Challengers 5-10 years from now won't be as bad as for the Viper (shortage of spare parts and almost zero interest from the manufacturer).
Why does something tell me this is just what the original hellcat was but someone at upper management beyond dodge said "maybe 700 is enough" and they've just been creeping up to what they wanted to start with.

Yes. But it was not the fastest sedan :) Opel Omega Lotus or Lotus Carlton in the UK had the 3,6 i6 with twinturbo and 377 HP !!! not 224 like the Spirit :D It went 286 kmh (180 mph !!) stock. It was faster than the BMW M5 from it's time :)

I doubt that they will. Electric cars were politically pushed. Basically media lockstep, but media lockstep can't change the fact that battery tech can't sustain mass amounts of vehicles with the current grid. Basically, batteries are too bad for the environment to be produced in mass quantities, right now, and their limitations are already souring the market.

My hypothesis on why it wasn't named something different or looked very different is because there trying to cut down on costs and production time. Since dodge annoced the end of the V8s I'd imagine stellantis has been on there azz to clean things up quick so there just making due with the parts left in the factory
Not really. I know some guys working in the industry and one of their goals was to make this car as reliable as the regular Hellcat is at that factory power level. There was a LOT of internal tweaking to the point that everything internally is modified compared to the outgoing Hellcat models.

@@thanosianthemadtitanic Well, you can see Dodge's biggest concern was appeasing current Demon owners so one of the issues was developing a car that was basically bolt on so Direct Connection could provide a suitable upgrade kit of sorts. I'm getting some details wrong but that was a big reason I believe. But I think that's thrown out of the water since they just named the last model as a Demon so they can still hold true to the "we will never make a more powerful car than the Demon" so there's that.

I'm not a big Mopar fan, but this is fucking nuts. Dodge decided THIS was how the muscle car was going to die. With a 1025HP Ethanol street AND emissions legal beast of a supercharged big displacement V8.
I wish Chevy and Ford hadn't given up already. It would have been really cool to see what kinds of Mustangs and Camaros we could have had because of this, but they pulled out of the power-wars forever ago. And to be fair, no Challenger will ever come close to touching what the GT500 can to around a circuit.
Anyways. I'm blown away. It's too bad we're just going to see these get stolen, taken to sideshows, and wrecked because Dodges cars are incredibly easy to steal with basic wireless key-spoofers.
Glad they finally reached a reliable version . I remember one of the execs saying they were having issues and I was concerned the last one would be nerfed to the point where it was just another version. They really smashed with this thing! Now to the dealers and car flippers for the s*** show. Being an enthusiast has always been expensive but the market really has gone haywire in the last decade.

When articles started circulating that Dodge was blowing up motors during their testing, I had a feeling whatever they were planning would be massive. Price is too steep for my pockets, like most vehicles. Also like most vehicles, they'll have massive markups, be flipped, drooled over for years to come, and break record prices at the various auctions.
The hurricane i6 should be entertaining. At least dodge goes back into the r and d bin to recreate what worked in the past. The 4.0l was a pretty stout motor and once you beefed it up a little, it would take boost. Now let's see if Ford returns fire. And for Gm, well, it's gm. Late to the party and leaving with the DUFFs.😅

I bought a glh back in the day the blown head gasket I fixed it it was insane it handled horrible the talk store was incredible but man it was fast got that kind of twelves fastest pass ever made was a 1246 with slicks it was crazy what a cool car no one suspected it thanks for the video I called the new demon tanks that fly

I think it is one of the most incredible novelty cars of all time, just an all out monster that you can buy at a dealership.
Though very few will be able to have one and most that do will probably tuck away in a garage somewhere, it will give us car guys something to talk about for years.

They should've atleast made it look different. Kinda hard to justify the price when it looks like any of the widebodys i.e. scat WB/HCWB/HCREWB/Jailbreak etc etc. Fast for sure though 👍🏻

Well it is different from any of the other cars. If you look at the photos the demon 170 has the narrow front end with the wide body rear end. That’s how you know it’s the 170. Demons came full wide body. Hellcats, red eyes and scar packs can come full wide or full narrow. The demon 180 is one of a kind in its own weird way because it’s fully meant for drag racing ( yes like the demon but it’s still different)
I honestly don’t know how else Dodge could have made it look. It’s a Challenger, and the Challenger uses the design language of the OG Challenger, but modernized. There’s nothing they could have done to improve it design-wise. Besides, any new design was going to drive the price up anyway

Theres a couple aftermarket noses you can get yourself. Theres an inexpensive and horrendous one by the brand ROBOT.
Then theres the superbird styled nosecone for nearly $9k that you can barely get your hands on because the shop is shit in the customer service department.
I love dodge, they stick to a theme and that theme is corners don't matter on the street and they are right. You can only go so fast on the street and it's usually in a straight line. So let's make the fastest striaght line speed car before it's too late and ICE is gone forever.
And I think they have achieved that. Their commercials were awesome as well any promo they did just got your eyes wide and you want one so bad.
They also were smart with their marketing in films and stuff. If you notice most of the time bad guys drive dodges/jeeps/durangos. John wick is a perfect example of branding. They wanted their cars to seem sinister so the bad guys had blacked out srt jeeps, a few trackhawks in there and a hellcat for the main villian.
It's very smart and males, at least the type who buy Hellcats, want them to be sinister, mean and loud. So whoever the marketing team were for them did an amazing job. John wick wassnt the only film that had dodges, jeeps or Durangos as bad guys cars. It's very clever marketing.
I think half the reason people love these cars is the marketing of them. My brother owned one it was a great car. Stupid fast in a straight line.
I'm interested to see how they approach this next chapter of emissions controls. How they are going to keep the brand like it is with hybrid and electric tech kinda taking over the fast in a straight line market. They would basically have to make ev tech masculine 😂😂.
I'm keeping a close eye on it for sure.
I love the challengers so much. The body style is iconic, the hellcats and demons are iconic, everything about the challengers are so iconic. Its so dope that they are going out with a bang, but then its sad that my dream car that I have been in love with for like ever is coming to an end... My only hope is that one day I will be able to get my hands on one and restore it and hit the strip.

@@sicko7218 as it stands, Ford is trying to save the V8 as well but will probably lose it for the same reasons, emissions and the EPA... our government was bought and is selling out it's people.
You can now get an NHRA Sportsman license which allows you to run a the track down to 9.0 in a production vehicle that Ian produced after 2015 two believe. I have a 2016 Hellcat that runabout high 9.8’s at the track consistently.
The Omni was a Shelby GLHS and the one in front of it was a 1992 Spirit R/T (1 of 32 in that color).
I just can’t accept the fact that electric cars are taking over gas engines sooner or later 😢
I'm really hoping Ford and Chevy go out with a bang in their muscle car lineups but I'm very doubtful about that. Chevy has the ZL1 1LE that they haven't really touched in almost a decade, and Ford doesn't even really make their high performance models with Shelby carrying that weight. I think it'd be cool to see Chevy collab with Hennessy for their final Camaro production year and have a mass produced Exorcist, but that is probably asking for too much
All of the GT500s and GT350s are built in house. Shelby just does the body work and tuning.

I might get shit for this comment but I can honestly say I was one of the ppl who complained about how Dodge never changed the body style and made it lighter and more updated. But now knowing that this is the official last call I really appreciate my 15 rt plus a lot more now. These cars we’ll be the new classics to our children and children’s Children. The design is minimal I won’t lie but looking at it more now and knowing it probably won’t be made/revamped again years from now makes me look at it so much different now. I love seeing the smile on kids faces when I drive by, I may not be the fastest the smiles mean so much more

Took a ride in a very very nice carbed 90s suburban yesterday. Damn thing is built and built right. Makes about 450hp. Doesn't sound like a lot, right? Thing still hauls ass and drags a lot of cars who tried to line up with it on the highway. With the ac on, mind you😂the internet has definitely numbed us to hp numbers because you hear 450 and you go "oh, that's nice ig". I've ridden in and driven cars with MUCH more power than 450, but we forget that 350-450 is still a good amount to get a lot of smiles per gallon.
I had a 2007 avalanche that was a flex fuel vehicle…. So what’s the big deal about the demon and E85

I am a MOPAR man. I have always loved them. It is very personal. I am thrilled that Dodge made a ridiculous car mainstream. Everyone else is going Electric, good fuel economy, lightweight functional cars. Dodge said let’s go crazy…Let’s get nuts… in my best Prince voice. It was what many wanted but felt weird for liking it. Dodge made it OK to go back to the future.
Talked to a friend that works for Mopar performance and he said and I quote that you will soon be able to buy a single or double turbo intake to put on the 170 engine with either a single or twin turbos and it will able to produce up to 1400 HP and be faster than the Code Red Mustang.
Crazy fast for a car you can buy the Tesla roadster also does 8s but I'm not ready to go electric yet wish I could get one last Demons
