Just wanted to say thanks for a great video tutorial.... I've been dreading changing the axles on my RTV9 but your idea of removing the A Arm bolts (as opposed to disconnecting the lower ball joint and tie rod joint) worked perfectly for me.... the job went along pretty smoothly and took about 3 or 4 hours to complete. Hey everybody, Just wanted to add my RTV900 was made in 2010 and the front axle dip stick is easy to access by lifting the hood and I use a long transmission funnel. It worked great. Take care everyone and be safe.

LOL Anyways my front CV axle was broke in came out in 2 pieces so with your help I was able to get the job completed in under 2 hrs. BTW, what camera did you use to shoot the video and what software to edit the video? Thanks again. Chuck
Thanks for the feedback. Glad to be of some help. As far as the camera goes, I have a cheap canon cam-corder. Not sure of the model but I think it was under 200 bucks. If you really want to know, hit me back and I'll get it for you. My phone actually takes nicer videos but the auto zoom on the phone is erratic. To edit I use Davinci Resolve. It's a free version and it is very good. It's by far the best free editing software you can get. It has every feature you could ever want.
Hey Lenny, good video! I'm having to do the same repair on my 900 and was wondering if you used Kubota parts or after market. My Kubota dealership wants 500 per axle so I'm looking for a more cost effective option. If you used after market, could you tell me where you got them?
The person I did the repair for got the parts from Kubota. I don't know what they paid. I would expect that aftermarket parts would be just fine. I haven't tried to look for them so I can't help you there. Good luck and thanks.
Going to do this on my x1100c when parts come in. The 1100 doesn’t have the three bolts that hold the bearing to the case. I’m hoping it just pulls out.
Please drain the fluids! Drain the front differential, and both front knuckles. Fill with UDT or UDT2. Replace the drain plugs gaskets, and maybe the fill plug gaskets.
I am having 4wd issues with my RTV and getting a grinding noise when the front tires come under load. I am wondering if this issue could be a result from a broken cv axle. Do you know what sort of symptoms the machine displayed?
Hi Ben, My front passenger side CV axle came out in 2 pieces. Broke at the CV boot. It only made noise when the 4x4 was engaged and during hard right turns. Very loud clicking noise, sounded really bad. Hope that helps. BTW, I order both axles from Amazon $120.00 after shipping.
@@chuckdachuckster2480 Chuck I just ordered mine off Amazon too based off you comment. $140 for both from a company called smart parts in North Carolina. Were yours up to par with the OEM? Any issues yet?
@@keithdaniels5918 Hey Buddy, Everything worked great, just make sure you check the the hydraulic reserve in the front axle after you make the change for the proper fluid level. Make sure you add the correct hydraulic fluid, I hate to save buck when so far into a project, get the correct hydraulic fluid. Hope everything works out for you and Thanks for writing. Chuck

They priced the CV shafts to me for $640 !!!! Each ! Told them they needed a Jolly Rogers flag on the pole outside. I only use kubota Fluids and filters so no worries on the fluid. I got the boot kits and jumped ship from those pirates.

Both CV axles have split boots on my RTV 900. This will be my guide when the parts arrive.

Did yours pull out? I need to replace mine on my 2012 1100.
@@nwynneus Yes it just pulls out. I had to lightly pry it out of the case. There is a ring that holds it in place.

I don't. sorry. The lady who hired me to to the job already had them.
I just had to get a set of them for my kubota. 330$ apiece from kubota and I found them on Amazon for 112$. Great video very informative. Thank you!
