Paul I want to tell you about this. In the Past I watched Rylie And he watched me at conventions here in Mich. I stand by the 3 loops just as you showed and I went with his set with the support collar,,I use 14 gage wire and bring it up the pole and use fence staples to ancor to the pople pole ,out of the iceand to a dead toggal that I lay on the ice..I use to wire full length of pole because Popple starved Beaver will work hard to take it back to. The hut ... I wanted send this tward you back in late Dec.when you showed us you were on the iced..GREAT JOB SHARIN AGAIN
I have never used snares for beavers before let alone through the ice just because I didn't really understand how to properly use them. But now with your video you have given me a whole new outlook on them, especially for this particular place I'm having trouble setting traps on. I have this lodge that the runs go directly into deep water(9+' ) so setting suspended #330's is hard. But this could be the ticket.
Good deal...how is the nail attached to the snare? Could prob figure it out, but am too lazy....and do not see that well on this tiny screen.....Smoked Beaver hams and straps..roasted w /spuds, carrots and onions....and Chipotle Tabasco....good grazin.
Good Morning! Very neat set up. I have never seen it done that way. I've snared beaver under the ice quite a bit, but not like that. A lot of times my coyote snares have enough un-twisted cable that I can re-use them as under ice beaver snares instead ot throwing them away. That nail trick is a great idea!
Use a dead pole for the snare support and smaller bait sticks wired to that right next to the snares. Beavers are going to chew the support pole off almost every time.... Yeah, yeah.. Here come 3000 "I do it all the time" comments...
Your way is how I do it too, but if the stick is big enough, it might not be a problem? Also the way he has it cabled to all snares, and anchored up above the ice, I'm not sure it would matter? A bigger bait stick like he shows might actually be better? I can't say because I've never seen this set up before.....I like it though.
Another great video Paul!! What's the reason of letting them pull the snare away from the post?? I haven't seen one that does that just the ones that hang down I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Ok - so w the cable there, how does that work? Wouldn’t the beaver pulling on one snare, and then the cable, mess the other snares up? Sorry I’m just tryin to figure out how that works

Glad I could help!!
Now I just need it to get cold enough again😂😂. Great info to pass on Paul, thanks
I like the speed of that set up. Never seen it done that way, but I'll sure try it the next time.
Glad I came across your channel, even though I'm not a trapper. It's very interesting and thorough Paul
Thanks for following! We can turn you into a trapper

A double feral will work
Awesome Paul!! I appreciate the help!!
Cool set-up
Wow great tip Paul, thanks for sharing
I am definitely going to try this next winter.
Good Morning!

I’ve caught both ways and both work. Anchor above the ice
Nice. Loving the channel and I must say, I'm not a trapper or even a hunter, but I find it fascinating. Thanks or uploading this man.

They all pull away.
Great demo Paul, thank you. Is the nail ran thru the whammy ? Thank you.
It’s tan thru a feral
Curious, how long have you been living off grid for? I know you moved to Montana sometime ago.
5 yrs total
@montanawolftrapper8666 have you thought about maybe doing a video series on how you started the process to going off grid?
@@bmxdude1337 that’s a great idea!!!!!
@montanawolftrapper8666 I know there is lots of content like that out there, but you've been using it for a while, and you aren't a shill lol
I’m asking bc I don’t know and I’m trying to learn: if you catch one in there, is he gonna wreck all three snares as he pulls away?
Yes
Ok - so w the cable there, how does that work? Wouldn’t the beaver pulling on one snare, and then the cable, mess the other snares up?
Sorry I’m just tryin to figure out how that works
@@hunt_trap_fish yeah it’ll knock the other snares down. You’re essentially setting three snares for one beaver.
@@montanawolftrapper8666aaaaaah ok I gottcha! Still an awesome, quick, efficient set!
Can't use snares with out relaxing Locks in the lynk zone
Lmao I don’t think that pertains to under ice beaver! 😂. Thanks for the warning tho
