    🏆 Our Goal 🏆
Want to learn about fencing with swords, sword fighting and the culture of fencing? At The Historical Fencer Magazine our goal is to share our knowledge and thoughts on historical fencing to get you started in picking up a sword. Or, if you're already doing Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), to deepen your knowledge.
I remember starting with HEMA and historical fencing over two decades ago and having tonnes of questions. Now there is so much more information and I want to help you with the things that I didn't know back then.

    👨 About Me 👨
My name is Anders Linnard and I've been doing HEMA or Historical fencing for over 20 years. I have won national and international championships and trained some of the best fencers on the planet. I've also been involved in shaping how competitions work and written the rules that are the foundation for most of the historical fencing competitions today. I also run St Mark, a company that produces fencing equipment.

    Very helpful thank you.
The auswinden drill (#2) for some reason gave me ,and my students quite a bit of trouble till it clicked. But this has been very good for us as I have been trying to encourage them to effectively wind more, rather than disengaging, or closing to ringen distance.
Take it easy on those toes!

I’m glad you liked it! I’d love to do a video on that, but it will have to wait a while. I think I may have broken two toes today :) but as soon as they heal up I’ll get to it.

Use a compressor and limiter on the audio track.

Hi, yeah, these videos are filmed with a mobile. But we’ll increase quality in the future.

I dont wanna be bitchy, but isnt the point to travel from one Hengen to another, while executing winden? I cannot see the Ochs and Pflug. In addition, the footwork and sword manipulation seems not really coordinated. Sorry to say that, but please take it rather as a question or point for your answer. Thank you and all the best in your path!
