Here is a good video showing why you should never spam cuts, you'll get dodged and thrust countered. In this video, I purposely cut spammed. To see how my nephew would respond. He did well, with counter thrusts. Watch "HEMA Beginners Light Sparring Part 2, Never Spam Cuts" on UA-cam

Nice work. Do put some tips on those feders, though. It makes a big difference.

In what way? They are almost never used in Europe - including in high level tournaments.

      1. tip breakages are immediately obvious to fencers and onlookers
      2. Tip is less dangerous ie less like to pierce - see the numerous examples now of rolled tip feders puncturing flesh. Ive certainly seen them put through hands.
      3. Its just a lot nicer to be stabbed with a tipped feder than an untipped one.

@@AdelaideSwordAcademy 1) I have never whitnessed somebody not noticing his tip being broken - having something on it might also cover up broken metal, though! 2) If you use kevlar gloves beneath it protects you fairly well (eg Mechanix has some that are intended for knife fights) 3) with proper jackets etc. stabs are completely acceptable at least to me. Plus: any tip will increase the likelyhood of a thrust sticking to the mask instead of gliding off. This can cause neck injuries or, as I have caused my opponent, a chipped front tooth.

Just so you're aware, Anders is one of the pioneers of HEMA in Sweden. He's very well versed in what should be, and should not be done.

@@ParabellumFencing 100%, I know Anders. I think he's wrong in this case. I agree that @alpenjon has a good point about tipped swords not gliding off masks, too. Thats balanced against the dramatically lowered penetrative risk.
