Let me put it to you this way. When it's an emergency, etiquette goes out the window, period. I remember when I was working at a job where I had the lowest rank, and one of my colleagues passed out. I then took initiative, asked one of my co-workers to lift my colleague's legs in the air, then asked another one to run into the bathroom to get some wet paper towels and bring them over to me. One of them said, "hey, who put you in charge!?", and I angrily yelled back, "JUST DO IT!!!" Forget about the ranks, and forget about decency. When it comes to saving someone's life, there's no time to think about proper etiquette or even consider rank. You have to move, and FAST.
