I think any metroid fan that has played Super Metroid would understand every transition of this song, like Brinstar and Maridia. It took me forever to find out how to get to Draygon, powerbomb the tube on the way to Norfair for anybody who still isn't past that. XD

Being a "True fan" (if there even is such a thing) isn't about gobbling up any crap a series spits out; it's about wanting the very best for the series and its characters. What Other M did to Samus and several other Metroid concepts was unforgivable. It made Samus out to be a helpless baby, needing Adam's constant nurturing and approval despite already having proved herself time and time again in every previous game. Adam treats her with no respect, despite the fact that I can guarantee that NOTHING Adam Malkovich has done would put him on a level greater than Samus, who has done no less than save several planets and straight-up destroy no less than two entire alien races. If Metroid: Other M had been written by anyone with a brain, the entire cast would've shown Samus the goddamn respect she deserved, not treated her like the ship's janitor and bossed her around. The "real" Samus would've never ventured into a dangerous area without the proper equipment just because she'd been told to. The Prime Samus would've told Adam to go fuck himself and did what she needed to to complete a mission that, in the end, turned out to be nothing but worthless crap, anyway. Samus contributed NOTHING to the plot of Other M. She just stood around, did some "generic Metroid stuff", then left the ship with absolutely nothing having been accomplished. So, NO. You won't enjoy Other M if you're a "true" Metroid fan, because it was garbage that makes Samus look like an extremely shitty and completely different character rather than the strong-but-silent and kind bounty hunter she truly is. Thank God that game ruined Sakamoto's career. He won't have his retarded sexist hands on another Metroid game ever again. I don't care if he did make Super Metroid and more; if he could truly make Other M thinking every choice he made was a good one, then he really doesn't need to be in charge of a series as storied as Metroid.
Samus's personality IS there in earlier Metroid games, with Prime 3 being the best example, although it can be found in Fusion as well. In Prime 3, Samus is forced to kill her own friends and laments doing so at the end of the game, yet she doesn't hesitate because she knows it's the right thing to do. In Fusion, she stands up to her superior after she finds out about the Metroid experiments. Plus, Sakamoto told Retro Studios that Samus would NEVER hesitate to shoot during a hostage situation.
I've heard that most people did like other M but frankly I did. I think the fact that you actually got to flip around and I guess you can say "execute" enemies was awesome and I found that to be a hell of a lot of fun. The story was kinda everywhere but damn Ridley has never been more terrifying then in that game
i think that Samus's backstory was pretty good,considering they only went into detail about how she left the Federation.And to all the people who think it made her "weak",Samus is a human,and actually has a personality.She is not a robot,designed to be a exterminator.This has already been explored,in various types of books and magazines,so it was bound to pop up in a game sooner or later.In my opinion,they did a swell job,and I look forward to a possible metroid movie.

I can't help but give respect to Mr. Sakamoto. Although he made a really dumb move by claiming the MP triliogy as non-canon earlier on, he was smart and humble enough to recognize his huge mistake as well as to appease the fans. After all, the many fans are the reason why the Metroid franchise is able to thrive and be financially succesful.

Other M was very inconsistent. Samus actually encountered Ridley the second time before Zero Mission. She suffered PTSD from it but was able to overcome it after a while. So the fact that she has it again in Other M after defeating him numerous times before makes no sense at all. Want an authentic Metroid game, Nintendo? Go back to Retro Studios

Then in the graphic novel, which takes place before all of the games, she encounters him again but upon seeing him is reminded of the genocide he committed and suffers PTSD. But shortly after, she quickly learned to suppress her emotions. Then in the first game she encounters him a third time and denies his existence...for the time being.
I think Christopher Nolan could do a bang up job with such an awesome mythology in the Metroid 'verse. Give it a bit of a horror feel and it'd be an awesome movie.

In zero mission, she'd seen Ridley's statue at the beginning of the game, in Prime 1 (and SM) she saw him during the beginning escape sequence, in Prime 3 she had to avoid him before the first fight, so she was prepared for each of those. I guess after blowing up Zebes she thought she'd finally finished him, plus the only warning in Other M was Ridley's metamorphic forms. In Fusion, I guess there wasn't a shock because she'd already seen Ridley's body possessed by X.

"Metroid" is a series of nonlinear, exploration games that have you play as the bounty hunter: Samus Aran. Each game has you go on desolate planets to collect items to expand your arsenal, complete various missions, wipe out creatures named "Metroid," and eventually blow up the planet as you escape. It's a series for gamers who enjoy a great challenge, love to annihilate vile alien creatures, and enjoy getting hopelessly lost in the process. Metroid is not for the casual gamer or faint of heart.

the space pirate music in metroid prime was scary when I was younger. I remember playing it in the dark and they would just start popping up out of nowhere.

I'd have to agree with you. In zero mission, she'd seen Ridley's statue at the beginning of the game, in Prime 1 (and SM) she saw him during the beginning escape sequence, in Prime 3 she had to avoid him before the first fight, so she was prepared for each of those. I guess after blowing up Zebes she thought she'd finally finished him, plus the only warning in Other M was Ridley's metamorphic forms. In Fusion, I guess there wasn't a shock because she'd already seen Ridley's body possessed by X.
This has earned that title.
