The classic SR388 theme in Metroid Prime's soundfont. The moment I heard this play for the first time was the moment I realised that Metroid really was back from the dead.

Only issue with this track is that it's not used in more of the game. It's a crime that this only plays in one area-one which you don't ever have to enter again after the first time you clear it out.
The tone of this theme is very fitting to Samus' attitude at the beginning of the mission. From Zero Mission up to the end of Prime 3, the Metroids have been a scourge on the Milky Way Galaxy. Each of her missions in some way gets slowed down by their presence, so now she's full of pride going into this mission knowing that the Galactic Federation can't do it without her, and she gets the privilege of eliminating the Metroid menace by herself. Man, it's crazy how quickly the tone of the whole series changes at the end of this game when you find the Baby.
Indeed. :\ Samus realizes by the end that she had been no better then Ridley, when he showed up in K-2L. All that initial pride and glory turned completely sour when the Baby Metroid greeted her so innocently and cheerful, *similar to how she had initially did with Ridley when she was a child, before the Pirate killed her parents right in front of her eyes.*
@@MrDibara absolutely. And from that point on, Samus was the only person to understand that the Metroids were capable of emotions and bonding. They were created to be bioweapons, but when you let them be, they just live like a herd animals; they're not too different from a pack of wolves. One thing that I thought was interesting was that all of the evolved Metroids on SR388 tried to kill her but they didn't try to siphon her; they didn't see her as prey, they saw her as a predator. After Dread, we now know that part of that is because she part Mawkin, but overall the Metroids were attacking her like a mother bear would do for her cubs; not doing it for food, doing it to protect the family. I think Samus is the only person who will ever understand this; if she were to ever try to talk to someone else about it, they would probably laugh at the idea of a Metroid showing love. And now she is the last Metroid, and I'm sure only a handful of people in the Federation government know about this; If the military and the populace were to find out, they would probably want her dead.
I feel like when this came out, as you all know AM2R is a thing, they originally wanted to do a remake similar to how AM2R’s surface sounded. But eventually went with this theme to differentiate it from its non-official counterpart. Either that or they were always planning on giving a more technological sounding theme, as this remake focuses heavily on technology developed on the planet.
It's such a shame you almost never actually hear this theme playing. It feels like it only plays in one room, and not even on the surface when you get out of the ship. Once you've beat the first Metroid you've basically missed it. It just feels really sad that this isn't the main tunnel theme like it used to be.
So I was spoiled on a lot of the game. Including this song. But not when it would play. So when I started the game for myself and found this wasn’t playing from the get go I was confused and a little sad. Then I got my first Aeon power and when this song started triumphantly blasting from my speakers the amount of joy and enthusiasm I felt was incredible
AM2R's version is very good, but it feels a lot more relaxed than what I'd expect for an adventurous theme. This one goes very hard and I love that. The main part is just so good, and AM2R's version just doesn't have anything that can compete with that.
I don't like that the AM2R version tries to make the song about the area enviroment. That's what a lot of Metroid songs do already, and uh... yup, the AM2R remix sure sounds like a Metroid song. At least this feels like it was trying to send the same message as was intended by the original. "You fought the Metroids, now it's time for the Metroids to fight YOU"
