They really did snap though lol

Bro, what?!? This goes HARD. 😂
Who ever composed this at nintendo was ahead of the times.
Kenji Yamamoto my friend ! The same that composed later the Prime series.
Genius.
True
@@Metroid9 Still true with Dread as well. Basically composing all of the metroid games at this point.
@@roland_the_cursor you are aware that you do the same in reverse right?
@@Turnpost2552 I can't respect heavy metal. I'd rather chew broken glass.
Never noticed how absolutely shredded Ridley's abs are.
Hes got those subterranean gains lmao.

What else has Ridley got to do waiting for Samus in that claustrophobic room with a small platform?

Lmaoooo
What if young Metroid didn't trust you? Would you not trust yourself?
This song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of Metroid as a whole: desolate, isolated, lurking through ancient but not abandoned territory, ominous but not outright horrifying. Subtle but foreboding.
It has a *death grip* on the feeling of "you fucked up by coming here"
You just NEVER feel ready for this place when you first stumble in.
Really well evaluated there my guy. :D
Yep, all the things missing in it these days. Lost all interest after prime 2. Prime 1 was peak Samus, before it got cartoony and goofy
There are exactly 4 animals with any chill whatsoever left on the entire planet
You just put into words what I feel when I hear this song.
Literally felt like you made a mistake when you first fell down into the depths. No clue how to back up, and a unsettling choir of the damned to let you know you may be in for a bad time.
Dominic Mollette wall jump FROM HELL!
Dominic Mollette Yes
Weird way to think about it, I always found this to be quite soothing
You too, huh?
Sans: Lower Brinstar, here I come.
I was SO stoked to see this show up in Dread!
For that one scene
@@calm707 I know I was disappointed 😐
@@evileast282 Why?
Cause it only plays one time in the whole game . Still hits hard though
*hear
Best soundtrack ever created in my opinion. It perfectly fits with the atmosphere.
Agreed. This is one of the most haunting, and atmospheric pieces of music I've heard anywhere. It's fucking brilliant.
@bk cw What's the first?
Earthbound too?
It sounds like traditional Japanese music, it’s very relaxing.
Sounds like trap.
Bet for the first trap song
The non remixed version of Optimus' outro
You too, huh?
Im happy optimus used this for his outro
lol
I be bopping my head everytime the outro comes
nakeyjakey did it first, go check snake boy out. watch his video game music youtube video
the japanese don't play around.
For real
+Aditya Mokkarala +Aditya Mokkarala that's really not even accurate lol. Even within Metroid. Just look at the Prime games vs Other M (prime was made by americans). I can read and speak Japanese, but by no means are they "ahead," in art or things of that nature. Saying that just proves how much you don't really understand about art and culture. Heck, the entire Metroid series is based on an American film.
Chill with the bias opinion. Art influences other art the same way one culture influences another.
Cool story bro
Joke ender.
i piss on japanese floor, they accept such shame
This song reminds me of my older brother. Would’ve been 40yrs old this year. We had to decide between MK2 or this game on the SNES. I told him at the time “this game is gonna be remembered for a long time” of course he’s the older brother, he ultimately makes the final decision. We got MK2 and some years ago he told me. “I fucked up and wished we got Super Metroid” the satisfaction I got from that. I miss you and love you brother. RIP Roy.
This track reminds me of my older brother too. He really liked this track, he's been gone for 11 years. I m 39 now, he was seven years older than me. This game in general reminds me of better times. I m sorry about your brother.
@@Ghostman80 yeah so many memories with this one.
Did you guys eventually get super metroid?

1:49 Creating beats with Samus's jump sound.
haha I clocked that when listening to it recently.
Oh snap when she flipping! That sound!
Sameeee
It's literally you moving in slow motion.... Damn...
It’s like the surface of sr388 in Metroid 2 where they used the sound of Samus taking damage
This is the best Metroid game made. How I wish Nintendo would make another Metroid based on this one. They did everything right in Super Metroid. The music, setting, graphical style. Rarely do games draw you in the way Super Metroid does, it's atmosphere is perfect!
2nd best but rightfully one of the best games of all time
It also aged perfectly
If you never played Prime, it’s pretty damn good. Amazing music, immersive atmosphere, and despite being nearly 20 years old still looks great.
@@vinny61389 Metroid Prime was the first Metroid game I played. I bought it day one when it was released on the Gamecube, the tailer and graphics blew me away at the time. Prime is the Metroid that made me pick it up the rest of the games. I played Metroid Fusion on the GBA next. My third Metroid title was Super Metroid, I saw it second hand for five pounds in a games shop. To this day Super Metroid is my favourite.
@@Robotoda2000 damn respect for responding 7 years later lmao
Fun Fact: This theme is so good it got remixed in Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Dread.
Edit: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes also has it!
Don’t forget Prime: Echoes!

I was listening to some gaming music and this was in the playlist. I was tabbed out when it came on and was like "What is this? I know this!". It's been a long time, Samus. I need to play this again.
I started it on an emulator last year with a made-for-PC SNES controller, but then one of the buttons got pressed it and I couldn't play any SNES games that needed it anymore, and didn't get a replacement until last month. When I got back on the game, I totally forgot what I was doing, and now I'm doomed to wander the moody halls of the game, hoping to find the upgrade that let's you go through lava without looking up a guide, which seems near impossible. So now it's either look up a walkthrough to try and beat it, or go and beat some of the other SNES games that I'm playing that I have far less interest in.
+Jordan3D You can play pretty much any SNES game on a normal keyboard. I remember playing Super Metroid on my notebook without a controller. I even played Twilight Princess that way, with a mouse instead of a Wii Remote, and the controls were more than sufficient (because the game is easy).
@@CatsZeroWing too bad the input lag ruins this game even with the best emulators
Me too! A great game, perfect sounds ;)
Hi
Whenever im anxious/nervous, this calms me, locks me in
For a game with no dialogue the music literally paints a picture for you. I’ve never felt so many emotions or understood such a great story since this game baes off music and atmosphere alone
If loneliness was deadly, this track would be it!
December 2023 and still cant forget this music
The beginning sounds like a sick rap.
WE STRICTLY GANG SHIT
I love how the underground jungle of Brinstar has music like it's teeming with life, and then you break through and get this more somber piece for a more barren area, still with an energy like you're advancing somewhere unknown. The vocal sound gives off an ominous importance of what you'll find in Norfair, and the melody makes you think you're trekking through old ruins where only traces of their former glory can be seen. This kind of mood is so important in separating a good game from a great game.
baby keem used this beat and its raw, ive known the song but im now showing evetyone a rapper has used the beat and it goes hard asf, its called gang activities by baby keem
I listen to this song in my car while driving to college and put the bass up like a douchebag. People think its beats from a new rap song! Fukin love this song!!!! Probably best metroid song ever!!!
You're definitely a virgin 😂

Has society finally reached the point of utter stupidity that it considers *this* an insult? Or, at the least, somehow degrading?
how'd college go?
I wish there were places like this. Everything today is too hot, too cold, too wet, too far, too crowded, too expensive. I just want a place to vibe alone miles beneath a planet's surface. Is that too much to ask?
The theme that plays when you enter someplace *incredibly* ancient.
I also love how this has essentially become the theme of the Chozo.
Lower Brinstar (Super)
Torvus Bog Subterranean (Prime 2)
Area 5, Sector 2 (Samus Returns)
Quiet Robe (Dread)
No matter which game, this song never misses.
I used to leave the game running in my room with this playing just so I could listen to it nonstop. This pre-dated youtube by 10 years.

This song brings me back to my childhood playing this game. I am 38 years old today. I can still remember this track to the tee.
i thought you were lying so i did the math and it kind of checks out (according to me) you would've been 12
@@roboron1n108 Why would you just default think he is lying? What do you mean it KINDA checks out? The game came out in 94. Anyone in their late 30s was a child at that time...
Hope you're doing well sir. I'm 21 and this was my first Metroid game. Been a fan ever since
@scog how old are you 🤨
I remember finally getting to this zone in 95 we use to call it NoFair lol
GANG ACTIVITIES
I love how that piano comes in with that fill.
If I could have one song ever sit on my face. Lol

HAHAHAHA
Touch grass
This theme unexpectedly fit in the one scene in Dread. I basically went "OOHH, OF COURSE" - it kinda suits them, though I'm more fond of this version from memories of making my way to Norfair and that glass bridge in Super Metroid. I just never really made the connection until then that it could be "their" theme, but it makes sense - Zebes was one of their homes after all.
Chōjinzoku?
Their ruins in prime have mournful synth too... And the OSTs were composed by the same guy.
Maybe mournful synth is one of their instrument leitmotifs?
Videogame music peaked with this.
I rarely use the word masterpiece but Super Metroid truly is one
Nintendo accidentally made one of the hardest trap beats
lol
God I love this game! When I first fell down this shaft I panicked lol. I had such a hard time trying to beat kraid, then I got stuck on crocomire. When I finally beat him and his skeleton jumped through the wall I think I screamed. I remember going back to the shaft just to listen to the music and I noticed that the purple glow in the background pulsed with the music. I wish I could erase my memory of this game so I could experience it for the first time again
DUDE SAME!🤘 I got it in 94 for my 12th birthday. Stayed up all night exploring...getting trapped. Figuring a way out....just to be stuck again. Good times.
Those were the best times
Same here lol
I shidded my pants when this came on in a cutscene in Metroid Dread.
Baby Keem - Gang Activities
This theme is pure ambience. The nearly isolate and forsaken depths of Brinstar. Not scary, yet mysterious. Memorable, soothing and iconic. My favorite track of Super Metroid.
Lower Brinstar is my favorite track in the game.
Super Metroid is the reason why I play ambient music
20 years. I'm very proud
I swear it kinda sounds like there's 808s or something, this is really good
The fact that optimus played metroid might be one of the most fitting character traits in history
The melody and rhythm change at 1:41 hits so hard
Goddamn. Thank you for pointing that out.
As a younger gamer born long after the game’s release and just beating the game for the first time today, this must be one of the most timeless games ever. (I used save states, but I still enjoyed it)
There is a traditional Japanese music side that is very soothing. It's pure genius.
Just found this game in my brother's attic on 4th of July!!!

I’m so glad Cardo sampled this track for Baby Keem - Gang Activities
This will forever be my study mode song! Who else feels so sophisticated listening to this as they squint their eyes at that complicated math problem??

POV: You are here after Metroid Dread
IM SORRY WE STRICTLY GANG SHIT
You can feel the planet pulsating
The Metroid series is one of Nintendo's greatest franchises. I have enjoyed this game since it was released, and this tune is my favourite. But only now did I realize how emotionally unsettling the piano bit is, because the main melody and the "echoed" melody come out through different speakers. That is so cool!
This is STILL the best version imo

I really like Metroid Prime's soundtrack, but Super Metroid has the best in my opinion.
I love how spooky the original version is. I love all the official remixes, but none of them are as eerie as this one.
I'll be giving it a shot, that'll be a great challenge:)
My absolute favorite music in the game. When I first heard it I instantly fell in love with it. So much so that when I learned that you could bring this music to Criteria if you took the second elevator I would purposely take it just to listen to this.
This is ridicoulsosloosly good.

The best part is Samus’ flipping/jumping sound throughout the background of the song
"Don't worry. I'll end this, once and for all"

Playing this game at night with the lights off back in the day was something else.
I just realized Kraid is on the boxart.
It's so great to read the comments on these old videos seeing people express the memories they had playing this like myself. Definitely my all time favorite game and it holds so many memories for me especially when I was 12.
