- Helmet played Mississippi Nights club in St. Louis December 13th, 1996. This is the raw footage we filmed with 3 VHS cams feeding to a live editor. Audio is live mics by the sound board and a line feed all mixed with the video to SVHS tape.
Can you imagine what it must feel like, to play in a band with a drummer as tight as Stanier?
Yeahh,..if u play guitar and loosing urself in the riffs,.u can count on stanier,..he is there for u and holds the rhythm,.u can always orientate to him,..awesome
STANIER FOREVER!
I miss John and Henry in this band. One of the best rhythm sections ever.
What about Peter? I aways think about him listening to Strap it on. He is missing, too!
...Bogdan & Stanier are thunderous monsters, folks... 😈
Peter Mengede was good but easily more replaceable than Bogdan and Stanier.

I was at this show. And every show Helmet ever played in St. Louis. Mississippi Nights was a great place to see a show. Helmet, Fugazi, Jane's Addiction to name a few of the greats that came through there.
I was there. Quicksand opened and won my heart. Great show.
i can't have enough of this band!
Just to add to that last post..... Stanier on drums.....such a signature awesome rhythm.
Happy 25th Helmet Live Concert Anniversary, Helmet Fans from Saint Louis Missouri !
You'll never go down fighting. You'll just go down . . . you'll SUUK BEEP! Helmet F YEAHS!! This is one band I truly miss . . . HELMET FOREVER!
Imagine the nostalgia after so many years. Experience this set at full volume! It's ok.
Pre - "Aftertaste" release! Awesome thanks for uploading!
I've been getting all nostalgic and searching Helmet clips...... Fuck Yeah!! Thanks for sharing LepersTv!! You rock!! What a killer track to open with! So envious of everybody that was there!
Oh wow, they played "Born Annoying"! Thanks for uploading, great stuff!
Woah! This is the show they recorded the video for "Exactly What You Wanted" at!
i think your right
I'm so glad I found this!!!!
helmet is on my 15 top favs but the sound on this is fucking great man nice job.
Holy Shit!!! What an amazing show, and such great quality from a VHS source, no less! THANK YOU for sharing!!!
One of the first shows I caught at Mississippi Nights, Today is the Day and The Melvins opened.
Thought Melvins headlined, either way 1 of my fav shows
Thought Melvins headlined, either way 1 of my fav shows
Epic band!
WHAT!!! Seriously, what a dream show, 3 amazing bands!!!
Stanier is un matched
thanks for uploading. I was there !
Great upload! I saw them in Boston four days before this show. They played a lot of tunes from Aftertaste, which hadn't come out yet, so it was the first time hearing them for most of us in the audience.
"Harmless" ... nice!
Goddamn, this is a great recording. Thanks!
I remember this as the loudest show I've ever been to. Doesn't seem like it from this video but the drone would creep up on you. I recall I was standing off to the left. It was loud.
It's great my friend, thank you!!
I 'll never grow tired of this band, this line up, Helmet at its tightest, and not playing in Dropped C tuning after 2000, but Dropped D, like most others here, the mystery as to why John and Henry never came back just sucks. To me Page started a movement so pure and intense that was so ripped off and taken advantage off by nu metal shitheads that made 100 times what these guys did.
Now I remember, thank you.
Sounds fantastic! This is epic !!
Page playing his Signature ESP back in 1996!?
That is his original ESP he acquired in the late 80's which was later used as the basis for his signature moel LTD.
Bud gives me a headache too, I miss Mississippi Nights. I miss Animal.
if I could say what Helmet always sounded like it would be punk and metal together, which is really cool ;)
I miss that club so bad, seen alot of awesome shows there!
Going to see them in Orlando Fl on 7/27 @ HOB. Great video work, and thanks for the primer! I'm psyched!!!!!!!
Saw them in Orlando at The Edge in 95. Amazing!
@darkototalgeek Agreed! First time we got to film them but it was kind of a nostalgia show for us.
OMFG! YOU JUST MADE NOT MY FUCKIN`DAY! MY FUCKIN`LIFE.... THANX 4 THE EPIVNESS!
thanks!
awesome!
The song among Give It and Driving Nowhere is Blacktop from Strap It On.
I was there! got the tix stub to prove it, and it was a great show! great pit, tons of energy! just cant believe it was so long ago...to answer your question Tyler Branch, i feel like it was Quicksand that opened but the stub just says "with Guest" so no proof.
But didn't Quiksand break up in '95?
Aaron Flood I had seen them three days earlier and the opening act was a band called Kicking Harold.
Melvins and today is the day
HELMET, Y U NO PLAY UNSUNG?!
Helmet is so fucking fierce!
+Luiz I am a Black American Women that loves hard rock and metal music only. I have been to rock concerts before. Helmet is not about image they just the best visceral soundings rock band ever.
+Antoinette Dave your spot on! with your comments Antoinette/Saw this tour in Manchester/UK..where i'm from/Helmet supported Korn and Limp Bizkit/they are just an awesome band live, and believe me I've seen some bands in my time..they have produced some excellent albums over the years/the music always rules,as you said its not just about image...respect
roger virdi You been around the music spectrum from what you have expressed in your post to me about Helmet . I will concur with you that you have great taste in music because of your love for Helmet. Page Hamilton will be 56 years old May,18 -2016. Page Hamilton still rocks harder than most people who are younger than he is. Helmet still kicks ass period.
+Antoinette Dave Even though they have had a few line changes over the years, their albums always sound fresh..Page is without doubt a very technical, talented guitarist.Where abouts in the States are you based Antoinette?
roger virdi I stay in the southern ILLINOIS and Helmet is still huge in the state when it comes down to concerts of Helmet's.
Great !
Sweet!!
exactly 22 yrs ago today.
12/13/18
Seeing them again Tues in St.Louis.
Was this the show where the Melvins opened with 'Interstellar Overdrive'?
Betty is the album name. And Milquetoast was track 4 on Betty.
Stanier rulz
oh wow, (high) visibility and harmless? Those are some rare songs.
what's the title of the first song?
is there a set list???
It's Easy to Get Bored
Was this their concert with Quicksand on the bill that same evening?
Quiksand broke up in '95.
That was back in late 94, I believe. I was at that show and the one in this post.
I was at this show. I can't for the life of me remember who opened. Maybe Dazzling Killmen.
theivory1 Dazzling Killmen opened up for Fugazi in 93 I’m pretty sure. I think it was supposed to originally be Back of Dave and then at the last minute they changed it to Dazzling KM. There was definitely a Helmet show with Jesus Lizard at one point; can’t remember what year that was though.
5:20 Thanx dad .-)
Con madre....
This is off their Wilma's Rainbow album, forgot the album name, it was good, didn't have milquetoast on it though ;)
Betty
@@austinkash 8 years old, and people still comment. I realize later yeah, good album.
hudas iscariot that's "bored" from Aftertaste
"It's easy to get bored" is the correct title 😉
This was during the days when they stopped using the ping snare.
He still used the same snare just wasn't as high tuned. Not sure why but maybe a change of taste
@@BrandonJFlores Interesting.
Always wear a "Helmet" .-)
Because ... you can
haha
Стайнер человек-наковальня )))
Oh yea thats Henry B on bass And the poppin snare master J S. And of course Pagey destroying that classic ESP 🎸 is that Pete M on the other guitar🤷🏻♂️
we all wish...that's Chris Traynor
Chris Traynor, the guitar player from the magnificent band Orange 9mm. Rob Eccheveria just left for Biohazard. They were good too.
fast foward to 1.12:05 ......this is how I remember seeing helmet.
A year later helmet were no more....
