CN Freight Train

- A northbound Canadian National freight train heads up CN's Waukesha Subdivision at Honey Creek Road, north of Honey Creek, WI. The 78.7 defect detector gives a read out after the train passes.
***I keep getting the same question, asking what's up with the bell at this crossing. At the time I filmed this, they were in the process of installing new crossing signals and detection equipment. You can see a little bit of the gate mechanism of the new signal in the upper right hand corner of the screen and the other new mast and gate mech on the other side of the crossing. The Safetran bell had been disconnected by this point. The GS bell you're hearing is on top of the new signal, on my side of the tracks, out of the camera's view.

This was literally the first video I ever watched on the internet.
Who still watches this in 2021. Real memories right here
A lot of people, apparently. It's still my most popular video for some reason.
@@Brenton81 Its a classic. I miss the days when I would watch this vid over and over. time flies.
I know everyone’s talking about nostalgia but man, I think I watched this video about 25 times as a child, no joke.
I think I watched it more than 25 times then but regardless I watched it a lot
This is one of the first train videos I had ever watched
Apparently it was the first for a lot of people.

@@Brenton81 it was for me
This was the 1st video I ever watched on UA-cam 10 years ago. I was 15. I'm now 25, I have a wife, kids, and a beautiful home.
this crossing is where railfans childhoods began
True
I can agree with this
Oh, the good ol' child memories watching this..
I think the reason so many people recall seeing this when they were younger is because of its simple name. It's so easy for a kid to just type in Freight train and then this video happens to pop up. Thank you so much, Breton, for this awesome video.
This simple train made probably the best railfanning video on UA-cam
Is it me or was this just about everyone’s first ever train video they saw?
The bells really hit my nostalgia. I remember hearing them all those years ago.
I was 6 when I first watched this, and now I work for the railroad. How time flies…
Was 5 years old when this was made
This is the first train video I saw when I was 6-7 years old, I have found it again :")
I was 4 years old when I first watched this. Good old memories.. I am now 14 going on 15.
Yeah, hard to believe it's been over 10 years now since I shot that video. Time flies!
I remember watching this as a 5 year old. This was the first video I ever saw on UA-cam. Good times. I miss 2007
I was 5 years old when this video was uploaded
Geez, the last few times I watched this is when I was 3 years old. I’m 13 now. I wish I could travel back to the good nostalgia.. 🤯
Imagine how famous this unknown engineer would be.
When I was in Kindergarten, I used to watch this video all the time. Of course, as a railfan, I still enjoy it very much to this day. The quality of this video is excellent, even in the year 2020. Thank you for sharing!
this was my first video watching train when i was a baby, please never delete it, it bring so many good memories
Ah, this video brings back memories since it was one of the first trains videos I ever watched.
This was the very first video I watched on UA-cam when I was 5, and I believe this video is the reason why I'm so into trains now,
I’m pretty sure this was every railfans first video they seen on UA-cam. It was my first video I saw on UA-cam when I was 4, and I’ve pretty much have been watching your videos ever since! (I’m 15 now)
My first video that I've ever watched in UA-cam.

I remember watching this video when I was in Kindergarten and every time when I get home from school I will watch this all over again and again

I was 7 years old when I watched this. Now I'm 17. The nostalgia, this was what got me into videoing trains.
I watch this everyday when I was a little kid and now everything had change from back then and today.
Ah, the sweet smell of nostalgia… :)
First train video I ever watched. Iconic. This gave me the interest in the hobby. Thank you

This was the single-handedly most watched UA-cam video by me when I was younger, mad respect for this person❤
2:36 - the lights and bell turned off BEFORE the train fully cleared the tracks 😂😂😂😂
For just one second.
the first ever train video i watched when i was 7
One of the first train videos I ever watched.
The BC Railfan this is also the first train video I watched to. I was 1 or 2 by then and I like trains so it's still my favorite video today and I the the lead engine is. Cool
This is my first ever UA-cam video I ever watched!
Man, I can't tell you how much this brings back my childhood. When I was a kid I lived directly across the street from the Pabst brewery in Peoria Heights, IL and trains like this came by twice a day. I'd lay in bed and feel the ground shake. It was always really cool to put a penny on the tracks when one was coming. Thanks!!!
I would watch this every morning when I was a kid.. now I’m working with the railroad.. man where does time go?
Did you get inspired specifically by this video to work for the railroad???
GMTX 2613 Yes, This video sparked my interest in trains when I was younger and my interest grew as I got older
This was honestly one of the first videos I ever watched on UA-cam. Definitely an inspiration.
This was the first train video I ever watched on UA-cam
Same here! Its also the very first train or railroad video I watched! I was 6 when I watched it now I'm 16! Memories flooding in! But I dont film trains but nothing wrong with liking trains and railroad crossings.

LOL, second, the first was the video of the daylight.
I think I was at least 8-9 years old when I saw this as a kid. I was 3 at the time this video was uploaded. As of me posting this comment in 2021, I am now 18.
Thank you for the nostalgia!
This was one of my childhood train videos!

Whoa! I haven’t seen this in AGES! Hello again to all the viewers who are revisiting this masterpiece.
I was 4 when this video was released as I was born on 8/26/2002 and I would turn 5 later that year in 2007.
EDIT: Whoops, I forgot to say that I was 4 when this was released, my apologies for the confusion.
Me too. I had watched this when I was young.
I watched this video when I was like 8-9 years old in 2012 on our old family computer I remember being so fascinated by the train racing by the crossing that I watched many more videos like this after I’ve now been seeing this video for close to 10 years so nostalgic
If you saw this in your early days of UA-cam, then I’d bet you had an amazing childhood
Yes I did I was 9 when I first saw this
This brings me back when I first started to watch train videos. I still am liking it as of today. :D
Thanks! This is an early video of mine.
I always remember watching your train videos when I was a little kid! My first ever train video was recorded near Nashville, TN on April 15, 2012 and I was only 8 years old! (I'm now 13)
So... What's with the Safetran Type 1? is it dead?
I remember seeing this at the age of 5 when I was so fascinated by Trains and I still am, thank you for the memories.
I watched this video when I was 4 years old!! My memory😪

I watched this as a kid too. Probably around 5 yrs old tho.
1300th comment: First I'd like to say that this video was the first train video I ever saw on youtube. 13 years from now since I was 4 when I watched this, this is the most nostalgic train video I have ever watched on youtube. And to those who watched this as their first train video on youtube, I congradulate you all for being great 2000's train kids. God Bless you all for watching this video as a starter railfan and god bless Brenton81 for Inspiring kids to become Railfan youtubers. 💖💖💖
I used to watch this video all the time when I was little. It’s a breath of fresh air to come back to this again.
I can't believe how many people watched this when they were little. Im one of them!
Ok let’s be honest we all watched this as a kid/toddler
Yes
I will always remember this video as one of the first railfanning videos I’ve watched on UA-cam. This video, along with others are the reason I love to railfan now! This video will always be legendary, with the older CN locomotive, the older gateless signals with the disconnected Safetran Type 1, the old Wisconsin Central defect detector and even the signals shutting off with the train still in the crossing! Even though this was filmed and uploaded long ago, great video and catch!
I'm a 15 year-old dubstep producer who used to watch this video when i was 4. Now its in my comment section?? What goes around comes around, and I had such nostalgia from this
I was 2 years old when this got uploaded
Now im 17
I used to watch this video nearly every day when I was 3-7 this was a great video
2:36 Crossing: I give up. Train: my entire length hasn’t even passed yet. How can you give up so soon?
Oh my God the Nostalgia I watched this when I was 5 Years old :O
I like watching this video

Wide World of Trains same
Certified Railfan Classic
One of the first videos I have ever watched on youtube
We own & operate the ex-WC 6904 (now QGRY 6904). The second unit on this train is a WC 6900-series SD40-3 (ex GCFX, nee CN). These WC stenciled SD40-3's still carried the Alsthom (GCFX) paint scheme. Our QGRY 6904 is still painted in this scheme. The 6904 is ex-WC 6904, exx-GCFX 6032, nee CN 5202.
well for anyone really from the western racine county wi area , this was a popular spot to hang out and watch wi. central traffic and this was the hardest regency radio to hear without a professional radio. the crossing was already in the process of getting new gates installed. this is also a dispatcher radio location 161.295(79).as a csx employee now we have talked about this video because of the warning light terminated too soon. maintainers fear these issues. great video brenton81.
This is the first UA-cam video I ever watched
Lol also first
Good old memories ❤
Love it when that first headlight appears over the rise, right at the beginning! I can hear Richard Strauss's "Night and Sunrise" from the Alpine Symphony in my mind's ear.
I'm glad you didn't sweep the camera around to follow the locomotive. Lots of railfans do, and then they stay pointed along the tracks, getting an angle to the tracks similar to yours, except now shooting the train moving away from the camera. I like a stationary camera-keep it simple.
Great video! Thanks for uploading!
I love how for some reason this is the video that everyone always saw when they were younger and were just looking for train videos on UA-cam. Myself included.
I don't understand how this one video is so popular. I have over a hundred others, but this is the one everyone likes.
@@Brenton81 When I was about 7 years old I stumbled upon this video. It was one of my favorites haha.
Such a classic
The first ever video I’ve watched on UA-cam
Lead unit is a CN SD50F (5430, I believe). Second unit is a WC 6900-series SD40-3 (looks like either 6901 or 6911). Neither unit is still on the CN roster. The SD50F's were sold out of CN's (ex-IC) Woodcrest shops in Homewood, IL (Markham Yard) several years ago through a locomotive auction. The 6900's were also sold, many of them acquired by Québec Gatineau Railway/QGRY. I work for St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad/SLR, one of QGRY's sister roads at Genesee & Wyoming Canada, so this is why we now have the QGRY 6904.
One of the first videos I ever watched on this platform, and I still can’t get enough of it.
Why the hell would 1.1k people dislike this? This is the good stuff!
The most famous crossing in North America
This is the first train video I watch since 2010!
I especially enjoy the camera angle when you can see both the cross bucks and the train coming!
My first train video i saw when i was 6 or 7 years
Lol same it was probably the first ever train video I watched on UA-cam
Me too
OMG I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS LIKE 10 YEARS AGO HAHAHA
This and Ervan's trains SP 4449 video are in the collective memories of the current generation of railfanners.
I remember loving this video when I was first getting into trains, this was one of the videos I liked. Just sitting on my dad’s lap watching videos like these on UA-cam. Now I make videos of my own and this is one of the reasons what :)
Man I first watched this when I was 2. *NOSTALGIA*
Nice video of a combo locomotive 🚂 Great job filming this video. Thanks for sharing.
One of my first train videos. I watched back when I was a little kid. 16 years later, I’m still watching it. As of September 2023 but however the locomotives that were showed in the Video according to rrpicturearchives CN 5400 SD50F Was Sold To ASDX In Georgiana AL It was last taken in 8/31/2009 probably scrapped i dont know CN does have a New 5400 But its a SD60 and the other loco 6911 SD40-3 was sold to DMVW in Bismarck ND In 2016 and it was last taken in 2016 probably still in service but I am going to say this video bring me back memories
Cloudy days are the best railfanning days for me
Nice bell !
The grandmaster of all railroad videos! This even made me start filming trains on my channel. Do you remember if there was ever a Mechanical Bell here? And they could have added separate gates and saved a ton of money.
Yes, there was a mechanical bell and 8" lights there at one time. They couldn't just add gates to the crossing. They had to install new detection equipment and electronics with the gated signals.
Brenton81 interesting. Also, I never realized how rare Safetran Type 1 E-Bells are, especially since I never seen one. Maybe they could’ve reused it?
Possibly. They may have saved the light assemblies and bell, if it still worked. Masts and crossbucks more that likely ended up in the scrap heap.
i loved trains when i was younger (i still do) mainly rail crossing roads, and this was one of the first i have ever seen, when i was like 3, Thanks Brenton!
Years ago when we were kids we knew when the train was coming thru town, we'd run out to meet it at the crossing and stand just feet away from the tracks and do the "honk at us" arm pull. They would always blare the horn more than they usually did for us. Feel the power rushing by, the noise, the ground shakes, quite exhillerating! :) Good times. Miss it!
