Man I am not sure if I am happy that you became that famous because I love your recent stuff so much, or if I am sad because you don’t make these tutorials anymore. This is gold, thank you 🙏
Awesome vid again Chris, Thanks! Now I've got a new suggestion for a new one tho. I've got something that's been bugging me for a long time now, and I feel like you might be able to help, since i feel like you're very good at this part. I feel safe to say that I'm quite good at this. Kick-bass relations have somehow never been a real problem for me, I can create good strong baselines and I'm fine making leads on top of them. I'm not a star at arrangement, but it's decent. The real problem is in the rest. How tf do you finish a track? What fx to use? How to keep shit interesting? When to choose which percussion? I absolutely love techno, but when producing myself I can somehow not get my head around making 7-8mins of music with just a few elements, like most techno tracks (seem to) have. I've got shitloads of projects that sound okay but just not there yet. Not in terms of mixing and basic sounds, but filling out the rest. Again, thanks for doing this Chris, you're an example and have been to me for a long time now!
hey chris, do you mix as you go? or do you leave a different hat for that? for ex: Production Composition first, then mixing second, and mastering afterwards?
Its different each time to be honest, sometimes I mix as I go, sometimes creativity flows and I just want to get ideas down as quickly as possible and mix the entire thing after. Regardless I always revisit the mix in the end.
