Another great video thanks. I’m planning a new flower bed for spring and you’ve given me lots of ideas for plants I’d love to grow.

Some good tips here Catherine. Always reminded of the growing conditions between here in Cheshire and Scotland. Other half Scottish snd he waxes lyric about this - gleaned from watching the Beechgrove Garden in past years he says.

Thanks for watching! I grew up with mum avidly watching The Beechgrove Garden! I think we are definitely a good few weeks behind the South of England for Flowers and finish our season a few weeks earlier too. Watching Gardeners World is always a promise of what’s to come since we are just that bit behind Monty and his garden.

Can these be grown in pots? Of I want some this year would it best buying established ones now then start with seeds for next year?

Hello, thanks for watching! Yes you can grow perennials in pots. Make sure the pot is big enough to allow room for growth. To get flowers this year you would need to buy plants. You can get seeds that flower a first year from sowing but I think it is probably getting too late in the season to guarantee that now. You can start perennials off from seed now, get them established and planted out for flowers next year.

Also what type of compost do you recommend for these flowers if grown in pots/containers? Thankyou

A good multipurpose compost for potting on will be fine for growing your perennials in pots. The most important thing is having good drainage for the perennials so having a couple of holes in the bottom of your pot x
