  • Let's make a stealth ham radio antenna that hides in plain sight in the HOA; they'll never find it. I'm using the Poseidon Rybakov antenna kit from Coffee and Ham Radios.

Only mistake I see here is being in an HOA. Been there done that. Now I live outside of city limits with 18 acres. I can through any antenna up... I have a gun range in my back yard. Big firepit for hanging around with friends, etc. I don't want to be told what I can and can't do on MY property.

A thing to think about: during the occupation we in the Netherlands were also not allowed to use antenna's and radio's. The thoughts and the behaviour of the HOA gives me the same impression as men marching together in black shirts, the men that shall not be named.

The Amateur Radio Emergency Preparedness Act of 2024 has been introduced to the 2nd Session of the 118th Congress; it has not been voted on and therefore, as a Bill not a Law, provides zero protection.

@@HOAHamRadio-- HOAs tried to stop people from having 18" satellite dishes during the early days of mass-marketing of those devices. FCC stepped in and ruled that such regulations violated multiple _existing_ federal laws, plus the First Amendment. It seems that it would protect people who have ham radio setups as well.

Totally agree. Fortunately for me, when I bought our home in GA in 2005, the builder and new HOA had stuff about no antennas visible from the street. And I have about 1/4 of the 3/4 acre lot down a slope to the drainage pond next door. The natural Antenna Support Structures have tripled in height, and I have a 40m Cage Dipole in the back, a 14m 4 bay Sterba Curtain I built but missed putting up before spring, and the crossed 75/80m full sized Inverted V's from the QST article with Google Maps view of his lot in AZ. BUT I still dream of a small Beam to raise like the good Sgt did on Hogan's Heroes, after dark. BTW when watching the show in the late 60's or 70's, my Mother recognized the actor Werner Klemperer from the late 1940's when she did plays broadcast in German from the VOA Studios in NYC.

There was a court case on a HOA and ham radio antennas, back in the 70's or 80's. Court ruled that HOA could not prevent a Ham antenna from being put up. In my town the HOA fought a tower being put up at one house for a Ham station. In court, because of the federal case, case, the HOA lost too.

Lots of information and misinformation on the subject of what laws there are and how they apply.... I've gone a different direction and chose to find ways to operate regardless of what the laws, if any, state and how they are applied differently across the USA. Make antennas no one can see, and this all become a mute point.

I remember as a kid my grandfather I never met had an antenna in his attic, 5 plywood circles with notches around the outside and wire wrapped from end to end suspended through the attic about 40 ft long. I always thought it was a clothes line for my grandmother. When she passed away we cleaned out the house and my mother told me it was her fathers old radio antenna he used to talk to people around the world after WWII until he passed in 1954.

My HOA doesn't have any issues with my 2 mm/ 440 cm antenna that is 12 feet tall above my roof. In fact, the one I have is bent and needs replaced due to high winds. They love that my antenna has a 00 gauge wire to a cooper ground rod under my deck that is 8 ft in length. Perfect lightning protection for the neighborhood. The houses surrounding me and mine have all been hit with lightening before I put my antenna up. Since the installation, we haven't had a lightening strike to date.

If they can not get you on the phone, they go to your house and check things out. If I hear screaming at 2am, I’m getting up and see what the trouble is and be well armed. I won’t be the only one doing that.
If a neighbor has a tree fall down, several neighbors with chainsaws show up. One time during a storm, a huge oak tree fell across the highway. The neighbors and a few motorists had the thing cut up and the road back open in 20 minutes. That’s how we roll.

It was a great day of celebration when we finally got that guy kicked out of the neighborhood. There was the part of him screwing up the video and then there was the part of his audio over powering the audio of whatever you were watching and then there was the icing on the cake - the nonsense he was constantly saying.
