When a man is raped, he is asked "How dare he be so weak?"
When a woman is raped, she is asked, "How dare she be so woman?"
This is depressingly true
I met Kevin after a show they performed and I just blurted our “you helped me through a thing that happened to me!” And we kind of just stared at each other for a second and then they smiled. It was such a small but validating moment in my life💜💜💜
My favorite poet.
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT!! Everyone needs to watch this.
This poem is so raw and real and vulnerable and enlightening and important
Kevin is an incredible poet, and I love his recitals. I love how he's not afraid to share the truth of his life, and that he is unapologetic. Hands down my favourite poet, bar none.
kevin uses they/them pronouns :)
I listen to this when I don’t have a name for the things that have happened to me. Since, even though our traumas are different, I feel the same way about them most days. Thank you for this, it gives me a way to look back at my own past, understand it a little better, and feel not so alone.
I hope someone gives you that.
This is extraordinary.
i love this
so
much

I’ve been told a lot of the same things. This made me feel less alone. Thank you. Your poem is amazing.

MY GODDDD
"And I am sure that *man* and *woman* is not all that a body can be."
I am non-binary, multigender and genderfluid; I just wanted to say thank you so much for including my own experience here and making me feel like there is a place for me.
OH. MY. GOD
This is so amazing
Weird question...Kevin uses gender neutral pronouns, but here writes about being a male survivor...I understand maybe they used male pronouns when writing this, and has since changed. But maybe they didn't. I'm wondering... would they still be a "male survivor" in terms of describing whatever happened? Does this question even make sense....
Interesting question! So, Kevin is nonbinary and there are plenty of nonbinary people who still consider themselves male, even if they don't use descriptors like "boy" or "man". So, as they aren't transitioning, I believe, they still use the term male survivor.
my favorite poet.
