    I once registered for a H.O.R.S.E. freeroll tournament online back in the day. When it came to Razz it was very interesting. I had no clue what I was doing other than knowing low cards are better than high cards.
    Thanks for the short explanation Daniel. I highly recommend jumping in a game that you have no clue about and dabble around a bit. It's great fun and you will learn more by sitting down and playing rather than reading anything about the game (although very helpful) lol.

  • @ligafftheindifferent3495

    I am guessing that JA(2) is not a massive underdog to A2(6), so while you would never really want to create that spot, if you try a steal and get re-raised, your odds are good enough to continue. since you only have to cal the re-raise and the antes/bring in will mean you are getting about 6:1 to call, which has to be plenty. You probably just need to catch better than your opponent on 4th street to have lots of equity (40%+) and if he catches a J,Q, or K, you can even pass him.

  • @guibox3
    @guibox3 2 роки тому

    It seems weird to me that A234J will lose to 678910. So it really isn't the '5 lowest cards' it really is 'who has the lowest high card'. Am I wrong?

    • @ligafftheindifferent3495
      @ligafftheindifferent3495 Рік тому

      Let's tweak the 2 hands to avoid any confusion with the Ace and with straights....
      J5432 vs T9875
      Which hand wins in 5 card stud high?
      That is easy. it is J5432 Jack high beats ten high.
      Ergo, in raze, the winning hand is the T9875
      As Dnegs said, you count from the top. In this case J > T ergo T wins in razz.
      This is also how hands in a game like O8 are evaluated. 76543 beats 8432A, for example.
      Board KK432. A player with JJ76 has a better low than a player with A238.

    If you are just starting out in razz there is a point system you can learn that is really helpful. It takes into account ...
    Your 3 card hand
    How many duplicates of your 3 card hand are out
    How many cards to make your 8 low are out
    how many low cards are yet to act
    the calls, raises and re-raises

    • @haman0180
      @haman0180 7 років тому

      raising with a J high board vs a betting 8 high board is a mistake. You will not get better to fold, there is no bluf that will bet/call on 5th street and any halfway decent 87 draw will bet/call which is a horrible result for us. In this example, a made 104 is always a calldown hand. Raising is not worse than folding though, so it's not the worst possible advice he could give, but it still sucks. And it's not even close.

    • @haman0180
      @haman0180 7 років тому

      You wont get value from 8s or 7s, 3s is the only hand that b/c here and is unlikely because of blockers. You also don't want to open yourself up to being reraised. Apart from the fact that you're not to happy to go to sixth with a made J low when you are up against a range showing strength. I have played Razz for years and ran many sims in my day. This is a calldown hand, I'm sorry. It's not even close. We can start raising clean 98s here. Maybe a perfect T8 as well.

    Not a fan of Razz. If someone shows high cards up you know for sure their hand is bad and it just kills the action, you can't even represent when you have two or three high cards showing. Whereas a harmless 2 shows on Stud you could have 2 2's in the hole. Just seems like too much definitive information is given to your opponent from the up cards
