Actually the Buddha talked about gods a lot. Buddhism doesn't deny their existence. The Buddha taught the realm of existence for God's it too is unfavorable. Even though their existence is long and pleasant, it doesn't last for ever. They too will undergo transmigration endlessly. Saying Buddhism is non-theistic isn't exactly accurate.
Different sects emphasize different things. Zen is definitely semi Atheistic. Also, you are speaking of the gods, as in the Devis, not God as Almighty Creator. Buddhism doesn't emphasize prayer and worship to a personal Creator God, that is true. It's more about things Enlightenment, Nirvana and Emptiness realization. Hinduism, yes, they emphasize Creator God as Krishna, but not Buddhism (unless perhaps it's a tiny irregular sect)

Exactly. Comparing religions to convert between religions is insanity within itself. To simply be put, as long as people hold themselves accountable and acknowledge they have the choice to choose how they react, no religion is needed. Just don’t be a dick and not so much suffering will come, but it is an inevitable part of living we must face and handle.
Does Ravi say that humans will permanently stop sinning the day after they accept Jesus? Sanctification is an on-going process over your life. Ravi clearly struggled with his sins, but the difference is he knew that he HAD to repent before his death. The question is, *do you realise that the same rules for repentance applies to you and I?*

Buddhism is not exclusivistic. One can venerate Buddha and Jesus at the same time. The issue there is that many denominations of Christianity, being exclusivist, forbid any other worship. So let’s speak truthfully.
Buddhism may allow you to venerate Jesus, but Jesus doesn't permit you the same. Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father. John 14:6 ESV Jesus said to him I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me

I had a friend who is following the Buddhist path and had stringently applied such lifestyle in his life. And let me tell you, I have never been more hurt by anyone in my life. Though he believed he meant me no harm, and though he recognized later on that what he had done was wrong and sought for forgiveness, the damage has been done. I live with the scar of having been betrayed and used. Despite the pain and the times that I had to question my worth as a person, in the end I chose to I forgive him and I said that I love him nonetheless. It's a delusion to believe that you can live peaceably with others by your own power. We are all human, flawed, and no amount of telling yoursef that you are divine can ever take away from the fact that over thousands of years, this lie of self-sufficiency allowed people to hurt others and hurt themselves. My friend didn't realize that he had done wrong, up until the moment that he saw me broken in his arms. This friend, who meditated everyday, day and night, who would go for 20-day meditation retreats, who would devour books about the Buddha and how to attain enlightnement, sat there in front of me shattered by the realization that he had likewise shattered me long before he knew the implications of what he had done. And you know what he said? "I am hurt that I hurt you." What a fascinating statement to me now. Oh what inherent selfishness is there in this self-imposed divinity. How afraid it is of accountability to a power far greater than itself. How it cowers over the idea of guilt, conscience, and judgment. I would have bought the message of peace, and that we are all divine--except that we are not. Except that the depravity in the world shows we never were. Except that I had seen firsthand how such message stands on the shaky ground of subjective morality. And to my friend. It burdens me that he is living now with the idea that he can be free from his own suffering, while he can never be free of the fact that he has inflicted suffering on me. How divine.

To christians.. I do respect your religeon and beliefs. But I do want to make a point that some christians tend to mistake the goal of buddhism. The goal of buddhism is not to extinguish your desire but to 'acknowledge' your desire in the right way. Then embrace such desire and use it to help yourself and suffering people. A person with a desire to escape from all desires would probably be the most greedy person on earth.

@@kornykorhorn I dont know who DL & Robert Rasheta but yes there are many different angles on how to view buddah's teaching. Though I must say that where I come from zen buddhists such as SeungSan focused on acknowledging rather than extinguishing which was what early buddhism was all about. Meditating and acknowledigng or 'seeing' your mind, desire, thoughts and so on. And it is true that many buddhists including buddha did mention 'extinguishing desire'. But, it is also worth knowing that everything including desire are considered to he 'empty' in buddhism(I dont know how you describe this in english but we call it 'gong'). So in this sense desire is not desire. Rather desire is emptiness. Desire is completely empty. But of course in reality we know desire is there in our mind. So desire is desire. Desire should be extinguished. But wait.. didnt they say desire is emptiness? Desire is emptiness. And this loop goes on and on and on... Which is exactly the reason why some buddhists see this as 'clinging' or never ending cycle of suffering. So acknowledging one's desire is not only acknowledging desire itself but also the endless loop of I just mentioned above. By simply acknowledging and not 'clinging' to desire, one should be able to focus on the reality and suffering people rather than meditating or thinking about something that will probably get you to nowhere. Now if you are the kind of buddhist that aims to hetter yourself, extinguishing desire is the way to go. But if you are the kind of buddhist that rather wants to focus on practical questions rather than vague questions simply acknowledge your desire and spend your time helping rather than meditating.
The word for desire in sanskrit is Tanha, it is always translated for desire. But what people dont understand is that desire in Buddhism means something abit different, it's not the desire of living, but desire or craving is the true meaning, hence the middle way, Buddhism is not clinging to anything its knowing you are everything, you do things but dont get attached to nothing, because if your happiness is dependent on something then you will suffer because all things are impermanent, so your happiness must come from Nothing, true love comes from understanding. That's why cheistians are tossed tru and fro they see happiness in things you can touch smell feel etc. Hence the genius of buddhism. Buddhism is breath out and not holding on to your breath because if you let it go, it will come back to you :)
You couldn't be more wrong in your presumption of Christians... at least true believers. Everything under the sun is vanity and meaningless. Our true hope and joy is found in Jesus Christ alone. @@ManlyServant I'm not here to defend Buddhism I'm pointing out that Mr Zacharias doesn't understand the Buddhist concept of the eightfold path. Buddhist morality teaches that we are capable through following this path of ending ignorance and ending the repeating cycle of rebirth and samsara. But there is no need to seek salvation outside of yourself in Buddhism. It does not require a Christ or Muhammad figure to lead them to god. The Buddhist's goal is not union with god like the Christian or Muslim's goal. Those religions fail because people like yourself cannot prove the existence of god.

Calling this debate "Buddhism CONTRADICTS Its Own Philosophy" is the same as calling it "Christianity CONTRADICTS Its Own Philosophy," as both approaches would only demonstrate a marketing strategy to show whose product or service is better to close a sale. Not everybody shares the ability to be happy in an afterlife in heaven, while others suffer in hell (including loved ones who didn't accept Jesus or God). Buddhism is about compassion for all life, good or bad (including animals), and neither should suffer on earth or in hell for whatever reason. Buddhism attempts to find a path to end all suffering, whether in the present life, the afterlife, or the next life (if there's even such a thing). Their effort and love for all are commendable. It's a noble practice. If you prefer Christianity, then go ahead. Be happy with it. But do understand that others may prefer Buddhism. People prefer different paths according to what's most compassionate to them. If you have a better answer on how to end suffering for all life forms, then do share them without the need to condemn another religion while glorifying your own. Only cult leaders and bad politicians resort to belittling one another to make their own beliefs look superior.

Most probably this event (first Exodus) happened in the time of Abraham around 2000 BCE when Saraswati river dried up.
Craving for things to be different than they are, is the root of all suffering according to Buddhism. Either desire for something to be or a version towards the things we don’t want. Hi friend Sie Soon Ki Buddha did not remain silent How did Buddha reject the Caste System of Hinduism ? At the time of the Buddha the caste system was firmly established in India. According to this system, a person's position in society was determined from the time he was born and there was no way to change his lot in life. There were four castes, or classes, of people in society: The Brahmins or priests, who claimed to be the highest caste and the purest of peoples The warriors The merchants and traders The untouchables, who were considered the lowest class. They became workers and servants who did all the menial jobs, and were treated as slaves. The Buddha condemned the caste system, which he considered unjust. He pointed out that there existed wicked and cruel people as well as virtuous and kind people in every caste. Any person who had committed a crime would be punished accordingly by his karma no matter what caste he belonged to. He said a person may be considered to have come from a high or low caste according to his good and bad deeds. Therefore, according to the Buddha it is the good and bad actions of a person and not his birth that should determine his caste. The Buddha introduced the idea of placing a higher value on morality and the equality of people instead of on which family or caste a person is born into. This was also the first attempt to abolish discrimination and slavery in the history of mankind. The Buddha said: By birth one is not an outcaste, By birth one is not a Brahmin; Holy man By deeds alone one is an outcaste, By deeds alone one is a Brahmin; Holy man By birth one is not an outcaste, By birth one is not a Holy Man; By deeds alone one is an outcaste, By deeds alone one is a holy man.

Now my peanuts for your critique: Mark 7:9 I think you quoted wrongly, says nothing about killing children. Matthew 11:20- its not them ignoring him, but they DON'T REPENT. Matthew 11:20(NKJV) "Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent:" And Jesus just lamented that their path down the road will not appear good ON JUDGEMENT DAY. And where did he mentioned "dreadful deaths"? ... you meant "Hades"? If you are, Hades is not "dreadful deaths". Peace : )

As a Thai Buddhist, I am in awe for the excessive degree of his superficial understandings and blatant confidence, while opining his views on something you didn’t even affiliate closely with in terms of knowledge. You cannot pretend to be a Buddhism expert and intensely pick a bit of these and those then mixing together without a main emphasis in Buddhism. Your trying-too-hard-contradictions against Buddhism are plenty of flaws and ignored to locate an origin and resolution of all problems through a reasoning process, The 4 noble truths and the 8 fold path in which are the most rudimentary but integral parts even for all newly converts or beginners of Buddhism study. Everything in the universe both visibly and invisibly is intertwined. One arises, decays, evanesces, ends and reincarnates or being replaced (materials) is regarded the endlessly natural cycle of all beings and all material things such as machine as such. Shortly speaking, it is eternally true. The impertinence is actually the pertinence or perenniality. Wisdom is a quintessence that Buddha advised and encouraged his disciples to carry along with their every moment of mindfulness. Seemingly, this man lacked it the most and made very much disappointed since I did expect him doing better. 😤 “You are fired!” 👉👉👉 Only one thing about his talk was correct is THAILAND has yet not recognized and officiated female monks though she normally did, since THAILAND had first embraced Buddhism a thousand several years ago. We are trying to revert it. This discontinuation of Bikkhuni ordination would be simply because of a bit gender inequality and power control only by male during a new subsection of Theravada Buddhism initiated by King Rama IV, a monk then. Maybe he would have rather prevented an awkward situation when a king in monkhood exile required to bow or pay respect to not only an ordinaire but a monkness. After his relinquishment of a monkhood to ascend to the throne as the incumbent king, namedly King Rama IV, this equality has yet been restored. We have only nuns so far. Anyway, I am quite positive, it maybe will. I fully support this underlying movement.

Buddha didn't address whether a self exists or not but focused on guiding people to end suffering and find true happiness. The core teachings revolve around understanding suffering, its cause, and the path to its cessation. The Buddha's teachings were strategic, aiming to alleviate suffering by providing guidance on skillful actions and perceptions. The text emphasizes that questions about selfhood aren't central to the Buddha's teachings. Instead, the focus is on skillful perceptions of self and not-self, which are viewed as actions (kamma) influencing long-term welfare and happiness. Individuals create perceptions of self strategically to pursue happiness, but these perceptions can be inconsistent and misinformed. The goal is to cultivate clarity, honesty, and order within one's perceptions to attain genuine happiness. The teaching on not-self isn't about denying happiness strategies but refining them for a more reliable and lasting form of happiness. Mastery of these strategies leads to the end of suffering. Ultimately, when true happiness is attained, the notions of self and not-self become irrelevant.
Anatta (no self(let alone soul)), anicca (impermanent), dukkah (suffering). These three are the 1st 3 true knowledges which a noble disciple has to cultivate and develop in order to develop right view during his training towards Nibbana.

Open your eyes and look for logical reasons why others believe in what they are preaching. Why Christianity is true is because He's the beginning and the end. He already knows the future, He has control over the creation. He died because it was necessary but He came back to Life because He can. And that's the assurance we have that He can save us.
As a Buddhist, below is my understanding of the Buddha's teachings as it concerns the topics raised in this video. When the Buddha set out, his main search was not for enlightenment (a vague term that can mean different things to different people). Instead, it was a search for a permanent end to suffering and dissatisfaction or in other words, he searched for a permanent happiness. It is interesting that the Buddha rarely spoke in terms of "happiness". He mostly spoke in terms of "the absence of suffering and dissatisfaction". This was because he wanted to start with an experience that everyone is intimately familiar with. We only say we want to be happy because we are dissatisfied with our current state; and we say we are happy when we are no longer dissatisfied with our current state (this is how we know that we are happy). Therefore, it is more appropriate to speak in terms of permanently "ending dissatisfaction" than permanently "being happy". This brings me to the first major point of the video; namely, origin, meaning, morality and destiny. Why do we think about these things and why do they matter? My own observation has been that we care because we believe that knowing about these things will leave us happier or less dissatisfied (some might say more fulfilled, which from my perspective is just another dimension of the same thing). Supposing that this is correct, then the usefulness of the answers to origin, meaning, morality and destiny is contingent upon their ability to bring an end to dissatisfaction. The Buddha found that pursuing questions about the origin or meaning of life did not bring a permanent end to dissatisfaction. Any answers a person may receive about the origin or meaning of life is satisfactory only to the extent that it conforms with what they want to believe. With respect to destiny, the Buddha spoke a little. If all events are preordained, then the effort an individual makes is meaningless, as what is meant to happen will happen anyway. Within this context, morality also loses meaning as both the sinner and saint gets no say in how they live their lives. Supposing that nothing is preordained (or if only some events are preordained), then potentially the effort an individual makes has meaning. From a Buddhist perspective, all events arise in dependence on various causes, and as we as conscious beings can affect this flow of causation, nothing is preordained. As nothing is preordained, destiny has little importance in Buddhism. Although the Buddha gave little importance to origin, meaning and destiny, he gave a lot of importance to morality (in Buddhism, morality includes the 5 precepts). However, he did not advocate that people be moral just for the sake of it. He taught that leading a moral life had two benefits. The first is that it leads to the welfare of oneself and others. The second is that it lays the foundation for a calm mind, which can then be used to more fully understand the nature of reality, as it relates to the ending of suffering and dissatisfaction. Now to the second major point raised in this video. Dr Ravi says that the Buddha didn't show us how to overcome lust, greed and pride. However, the Buddha did show various methods to do this. The Buddha taught that holding onto these emotions results in various degrees of dissatisfaction or suffering. He also taught that our ability to overcome these emotions depends on us being able to see at a deep and instinctive level that they cause dissatisfaction (e.g. as an analogy, we try not to touch a hot stove because we know that it will burn us). How are we able to see this? By developing a calm, balanced mind that can observe the effects of our thoughts and actions impartially. But how can we develop a calm and balanced mind? Through meditation; which has been proven by neuroscience and psychology to bring about these effects. So now we can start to see that the Buddha provided a step by step, systematic way to eliminate dissatisfaction. Onto the third major point, Nirvana. The literal meaning of Nirvana is to "cool". So, to attain Nirvana is to have cooled the mind to the point where it is no longer dissatisfied with anything. It has nothing to do with annihilation or destruction of a "self". From a Buddhist perspective, consciousness is a stream of interrelated causal events that are always changing. Therefore, there is no permanent "self" to begin with that can be destroyed. To test this out, try and ask what part of you is "you". Is it your body? Your mind? Your emotions? Your awareness? You will find that the nature and quality of all of these changes with time. You don't always think the same thoughts, feel the same emotions or have the same awareness. Your body is also always changing. Some of the cells in your body today will be replaced by new ones tomorrow. If you investigate this way, you will find that what you call a "self" or "soul" is just a convenient fiction used to function in daily life. So, what happens where someone attains Nirvana? There is a permanent absence of dissatisfaction, and therefore a permanent absence of desire that is motivated by dissatisfaction. Therein lies a subtle point. There are certain forms of desire that are not motivated by dissatisfaction. For example, the Buddha's desire to teach. He taught because other wanted to learn what he knew, and he did this for more than 40 years. Without desire, he could not teach. Yet the desire was not one motivated by dissatisfaction but by compassion and receptivity to the needs of others. Onto the fourth major point, love. The Buddha spoke at great length about love, but of a different kind. The love described by Dr Ravi is a by-product of attachment. This kind of love brings happiness when a person is near the one they love, and when the one they love is healthy and well. However, this kind of love also causes pain when the person who is loved is far away, injured or killed, or doesn't reciprocate. It is a kind of love that leads to dissatisfaction. The Buddha taught about a different kind of love. A kind that is selfless and free of the limitations of attachment. It allows one to wish for another's welfare, be moved to help another in distress and take joy in another's successes; and it does all of this without any attachment to an outcome. One can sincerely wish another well or take joy in their wellbeing, but not grieve if things don't go well for them. One can be moved to help someone in distress without becoming disheartened at the other person's situation. This kind of love provides great joy to both the giver and receiver, without leading to dissatisfaction. The love we have for our friends and family is usually one of attachment and therefore brings with it a degree of suffering and dissatisfaction. However, if we can love selflessly and unconditionally, and without expectation, we have no cause to be dissatisfied and our loved ones will be secure in the knowledge that we will love them no matter what. The Buddhist nun's experience was one of attachment and not selfless or unconditional love, which is why it caused her pain. However, she is still at the beginning of her journey. If you'd like to see the results of someone who is near the end or has reached the end of the journey, I would recommend reading about monks such as Ajahn Mun or Ajahn Chah and nuns such as Mae Chee Kaew, all of whom were regarded as having reached Nirvana or a state close to it. On the Dalai Lama, his situation may be a bit complex. The Buddha set a rule discouraging monks from engaging in politics, and whether/how well the Dalai Lama adheres to this rule is not something I can comment on. However, disregarding this, some general statements can be made. Firstly, the Dalai Lama has not claimed to be enlightened, and therefore cannot be held to the same standard as enlightened beings such as the Buddha. However, if he practices the Buddha's teaching such that his desires are motivated less and less by dissatisfaction, then he would be on the correct path. To conclude, the Buddha discovered a way to permanently end dissatisfaction and suffering and invited any who were interested to follow the path he laid out and experience this for themselves. This is perhaps the defining feature of Buddhism. The Buddha's teachings can be practiced and tested by each person, so that they can see the truth of these for themselves. This is true even of teachings such as rebirth (although if you would like to take the easy route, I'd recommend looking into Dr Ian Stevenson's findings from 40+ years of research into the area).
If no one exists then why have compassion for no one. We seek to understand beginnings because we seek truth not just because it satisfies us. If no one exists how can you know that you do not exist? How do you know it is true? That truth is unknowable. If you suffer why seek to be set free. Seeking to rid yourself of suffering is preposterous at its outset. Any suffering you have from past mistakes cannot be undone this karma is permanent your only hope is to die and continue paying it which is absurd because how can you reincarnate if you never existed to begin with. The peace of the Christian heart is best exemplified in the scripture. “Be still, and know that I am God” - Psalms 46:10 (KJV)
If there's no such a thing as a self then apparently it wasn't you who wrote these lengthy paragraphs, no, they simply popped into existence, even if the medium for their coming into being were human fingers typing away, because there was no such a thing as "someone" typing them. One is left to wonder what to do with this whole text composed by random symbols stringed together, which just so happen to give an illusion of meaning. Perhaps it is safe to conclude that the entire comment is meaningless, for there's no one who could have meaningfully composed it and there's no one to understand it. Why bother, right? There's no one, and just like that, everything is irrelevant. Including Buddhism, which somehow tries to create meaning out of irrelevance. Or, maybe, just maybe, it could be that there really is a person behind these words, but he has been so deluded by such vacuous ideas that now he believes that his own self is an illusion (a wonder to be seen, an insanity worse than believing to be Napoleon, because at least Napoleon is someone). Hopefully one day this person will come back to reality, and stop living the illusion of Buddhism.
(T)there is no way to end suffering you can not.. by ending suffering permanently you are ending pleasure.. they go together you can not have one with out the other ..suffering is important ..only cowards reject it .. so what's the point coward ? ..the nirvana state you are talking about is boring and meaningless ..and i will never seek it ..you want make us a dump robots you fool ..you want to eliminate sensation ..we are here to experience it ..we are here to experience suffering and plessure you can not have one with other male and female ..such a pathetic child .....
I find it amazing but interesting and skeptical. Can we really eradicate dissatisfactions? Do we really have the power to do so? Is there any human being alive who has ever than this? If so, how? If we cannot, does the existence of matter begs for a reason of the “why”? Why is dissatisfaction there in the first place? Is it rather giving us a deeper reason rather than just a reason to extinguish such?
I am a former practitioner of Soka Gokkai Buddhism. I would ask why does Buddhism acknowledge hell (3 or 4 stages of hell) and demons (Mara) and not God? Who determines good from bad karma for rebirth? Just as an example Why would you come back as a frog? And would this be because you had good or bad karma? Coming back as a lower animal would indicate a regression for your stage of rebirth. Who would determine what you came back as? The universe? Wouldn’t this hold the idea of God in some form or fashion without fully admitting it. Both religions have an idea of life after death. Hypothetically you could see your loved ones again if they were reborn. However if you are wrong you go to hell and if I am wrong I will be reborn. It is scary to me to not recognize the awesome power of God.
Christianity itself was born from Buddhism (by Jewish Pythogorean Buddhists in 50 to 150 CE). Research into it and you will find the truth. I am not telling you to rdmouncd Christianity. I am just telling you to understand Christianity correctly. Do you know that reincarnation was part of Christianity till 550 CE when it was removed by Emperor Justinian?
@@KD-ns1hn Read the works of Micheal Lockwood (Buddhism's relation to Christianity & Unknown Buddha). And research of Prof Christian Lindtner. www.jesusisbuddha.com/ Christianity began with Essenes or Theraputaes or Nazarenes in 100 BCE who were Jewish Buddhist Monks & Nuns. This was exported to Israel, Syria, Iraq & Egypt from India in the rule of Kushana in 100 BCE. The so-called Ashoka pillars in India (they are actually Kushan pillars) mention this. They are dated to 100 BCE. Philo of Alexandria (who belonged to 20 BCE to 50 CE) mentions them in glowing terms. Most probably, Philo was a Jewish Pythogorean Buddhist. Remember, prominent Christian ideas like 'Logos' & 'Trinity' were given by Philo of Alexandria. sacred-texts.com/bud/ipc/ipc13.htm Buddhist Sources of New Testament are: 1) MulaSarvaAstivadaVinaya 2) SaddhDharmaPundarika Sutram 3) Lalita Vistara OK, as a primer to your research let me give you one clue: Virgin Birth is a typical Indian idea. Many births of famous Indian legendary figures are attributes to Virgin Births. List of Indians born of Virgin Birth according to Indian legends: 1) Buddha - virgin mother Maya 2) Karna - virgin mother Kunthi 3) Vyasa - virgin mother Satyavathi Virgin Birth is part of larger Indian idea of miraculous births (to explain away people born out of wedlock or born in low castes). Other miraculous births in Indian legends: 1) Dronacharya 2) Krupacharya 3) Rushya Shrunga 4) Dhurvasa There are many more such examples in Indian legends. Virgin Birth is part of that Indian idea. Concept of Virgin Birth was exported as it is to Middle-east & Levant from where it was transported to Rome.
@@trira1171 Wow! Just wow. How lost you are my friend. First off Buddhism is an atheistic religion…nothing like that of Christianity. Not only is Christianity a theistic belief, furthermore it is a monotheistic belief. Nothing like Buddhism. 2nd, Buddhism got its start as an offshoot of Hinduism, as Gautama Buddha could not stand the cast system of the latter. Sure some of the “ethics” may be similar and that’s great, however ethics is not faith in Christ or religion. Ethics may be the first step in religion but it is not the last. May I suggest you consider the following… answersingenesis.org/world-religions/buddhism/
its funny hearing someone simplify buddhism to this level, the buddhist suttas are equal to 11, thats ELEVEN bibles in length. there's no person I've seen on youtube that's christian that's seriously studied it to an amount he can make an accurate description of it. buddhism is about letting go, contemplation. its no different then the contemplatives in the christian tradition except much deeper and more detailed instructions on letting go( or the christian, practicing the presence of god)
And do you understand Christianity? No you don't or you would throw the sutras in the garbage and never look back. For one thing...in the Bible God says that your humanity is warped by sin...and you have no possible way of knowing right from wrong...or changing yourself. Chanting, meditating, depriving yourself, reciting sacred texts of Buddhism will not change your evil nature or clean the sin from your heart. Other religions try to make bad people good...Jesus came to make dead people live...that's a big difference. Also, when you accept Jesus Christ...He immediately grants you eternal life...in Buddhism and other religions you have to go through an initiation...then you have to walk a path...and you have to hope that somehow you successfully walked the path and didn't disqualify yourself for some unknowable better existence in the future. And that's why many Hindu's and muslims are starting to abandon their religion for Jesus Christ.
@@TheAaronChand Ok...was Hitler divinely created? Was the person who rapes and murders teenage girls divinely created ? Are these people "good" ? How do you answer that? India is full of Hindus...is India at peace ?...or is their country full of corruption and bloodshed? The proof against what you are saying is that the country of India itself is full of violence and crime...and poverty. Let me ask you... why did Buddha renounce Hinduism ? Because it had no answers. Do you want to see evil people punished? Well that's exactly what God did to all the idol worshipping nations as recorded in the Old Testament...because in Him alone is the objective standard of morality...not the individual in his futile thinking. God said that He is the judge of what is right and wrong...and the devil said ...no , God is trying to keep you down, you can know good from evil without God...and shortly thereafter the first murder was committed.
@@TheAaronChand In Buddhism, humans are divinely (God-like) created by which Divine Being? Buddhism also says rebirth is real based on good and bad deeds. Ok. So who is counting your good and bad deeds? And who determines where you are reborn?
@@noself7889 Thanks for your replies friend. That's a significant amount of time spent studying. What motivated you to do so? Were you religious before studying Buddhism?
@@noself7889 Thank you for that brief overview. I'm sure it is difficult to summarise the extent of your experiences in a short UA-cam post. Do you currently still believe God exists?
You seem like an intelligent man, but you gotta do more research my friend, you dived into a wrong research. Which is good, that you are doing research but “false knowledge is even more dangerous than ignorance” as was stated by George Bernard Shaw. It is also common these days. Also to renounce one’s own desires is hard, compare it to that woman. It’s hard to renounce your children isn’t it. Also don’t look at others, look within yourself. That is the key to your enlightenment. Dali Lama doesn’t represents the whole Buddhism. You aren’t well knowledge in Buddhism my friend, so if I say something’s on here you won’t comprehend it.
This guy is confused beyone belief. I can't believe he is making a fundamental mistake about the rejection of desire. Buddhists seek to cause a cessation of uncontrolled desire - Desirous attachment. Not all desire. I can have a desire to become enlightened, to help all living beings. That is a desire. But, it is not desirous attachment. with no desire, we would not be able to function. If I irradicated ALL desire, I wouldn't even have the desire to make a cup of tea - I wouldn't be able to. This is completely bloody obvious, if you have actually studied Buddhism and understood it. One of the goals of Buddha Dharma is to cause the uncontrolled desire - the desire that causes suffering, to cease. As for the annihilation of self, different buddhist schools see things differently. But, the Mahayana Prasanghika school seek to cause the self that appears to be INHERENTLY EXISTING to cease. Not the CONVENTIONALLY EXISTING self. We can still function when we realise this (realising emptiness of phenomena). It's absolutely amazing, in fact. You can go anywhere, do anything and have zero fear, anxiety, sadness, depression, anger, attachment. It's a completely amazing state to achieve. I'm not impressed at all by his presentation.
Christian follower some how stubborn and persistent, everywhere I go there are some Christian told me to go to church, preaching me, even though I wear a Buddhist amulet, some came to our home to pursue us to follow Christian, before and after we build a Buddhist altar. There one time I was in Singapore, some Christian pass by and start preaching... oh community of gods ( jp gods), jade empire's gods ( east Asia Gods), and dear Buddha why they are so persistent, like their was a freaking conspiracy of illuminaty behind them
Former Christian now a Buddhist to my understanding Christianity is based on a threat if you don't believe in there belief you're going to burn in hell !!!!! Based on the casting system, if your not a Christian you're a lower cast! that's why they persist they can't do any good deeds without a threat 😀any believed it's based on the threat has no religious moral righteousness value 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A talking snake convinces a lady (Jill) into eating a fruit in the bushes and sharing the fruit with a guy (Jack) causing this middle-aged middle-eastern bearded fellow (Fred) to kick them off the property. Then Jack, Jill, and all their descendants had to wait for a millennium or more for a sacrificial Jew born of a virgin and Fred to redeem the people of the planet… and the son of the virgin and Fred is Fred (not Fred II)! Buddhism also says rebirth is real based on good and bad deeds. Ok. So who is counting your good and bad deeds? And who determines where you are reborn?
First off, I am not a fan of Ravi, but with that said, it is true that many Buddhist sects do emphasize what he states. I see some Buddhists on here saying Ravi is making stuff up....well, not totally. Let's remember that Buddhism has countless sects and they argue and debate and disagree...soooo, I accept that you might follow a sect that doesn't negate desire and aim for Nirvana as extinction. Your teacher may be more level headed on that, but I have come across many texts speaking of No self, anti desire etc....these are facts....Part of the issue with Buddhism is that it's messy because there are different doctrines and interpretations.....the better versions of Buddhism are cool, the dumb versions suck and confuse people. So, depending on what teaching Ravi used as s reference, he can be correct.
Deebo Nash don't waste your time praying , it's better if you practice to say good words do good deeds and think good thoughts and wish all beings their happiness

Sorry, you would heard and read through hindus arthur. The birthplace of buddha was not a hindu region at those time.Nepal was the place where indigenous people had used to offer god to nature in those time. The pre-teachers of Buddha was hindus in search of god and truth in india. But, When Buddha didn't found truth on his experimental lab, then the Buddha himself turns on arguing on hinduism philosophical character's. That's why hindu misinterpret Buddha sometimes and was. Dr. Ravi was exactly right on saying Buddha as atheist and make no sense.Buddha needs experiment rather than haux and book base imaginative fiction speech.
Pemba Dorji Buddha birthplace is in the jungle of lumbini which is 2 km away from Uttar Pradesh. He was culturally related to Uttar Pradesh/Bihar people of that time, if not than how come Buddha’s family had marriage with Families of Vaishali and Kosala kingdoms, etc which are all in Uttar Pradesh. People marry those who are culturally similar.
Read Buddhist scriptures. All buddhist scriptures makes it obvious that Buddha was from Kshatriyas. Read Tripitaka Pali canon. You will find it everywhere
Contradictions in Buddhism Theravada: 1. Samsara is perpetuated by karma, leading to reincarnation. But if karma dictates reincarnation, what is it that we are paying for in our first birth? 2. If desire causes suffering, why should we desire freedom from suffering? The goal of attaining nirvana is within itself a desire. 3. Dependent origination posits that an individual’s existence is the result of previous conditions and once those previous conditions cease to exist, the individual ceases to exist. If that’s the case, then why does our karma continue after we die? Additionally, how can we be reincarnated if dependent origination as a middle path rebuts the concept of an eternal soul? Mahayana & Vajrayana: 1. If the Pancha Silla forbids lying, why is it that one is allowed to lie for the sake of Upaya according to the Saddharma Pundarika? 2. If there is no soul, how can Bodhisattvas forgo Nirvana until all sentient beings are liberated? How can they maintain consciousness after their death? 3. If there is no atman, why are so many Hindu deities who were born of the atman mentioned in the Saddharma Pundarika Sutra? 4. Why is it that good karma makes you reincarnated as pale skinned while bad karma makes you swarthy? Isn’t that racist? Hindu Buddhism: 1. If Vishnu lied to Shiva in the Upanishads about his superiority, why would he forbid lying in his Buddha incarnation? 2. If Jyotish is a vital part of the Hindu tradition, why would Buddha describe it as a “base art” to be refrained from in the Brahmajala Sutta? 3. If Buddha is simply an avatar of Vishnu whose goal is to maintain the Sanatan Dharma, why does he completely rebuke the central tenets of Hinduism in the Dhammacakkappavatana? 🧐🔍🔬
Buddhism is such a joke 😂,this is just another delusional made-man religion like hinduism, the fact is this, Buddhist believe in a god, they believe in super human,or super being, has no different with pagan
Thervada 1.& 3.Reincarnation is not a part of the original, purist Buddhist teaching. You bring up a fair point. 2. Desire itself is not the issue, it's our attachment to those desires. You get hungry and desire food, which is fine and normal according to Buddhism. Learning to let go of the attachment of longing to attain Nirvana is one of the last hurtles practitioners often meet. Mahayana & Vajrayana 1. Good question. I think it's important to note that Buddhism is a tool practitioners use to reach a goal. Buddhism doesn't claim moral superiority and say that certain things are always good or always bad, simply that some actions will only isolate you from the truth, and others will bring you closer. 2. Part 1: I don't understand the first part of this question. Are you asking why a soul-less self is worth liberating? Part 2: they don't mIntain consciousness after death, nor is that a belief in original Mahayana. 3.This is because Hinduism absorbed Buddhism largely, and created beings with "self" in a philosophy that rejects "self". It seems logically sound that you point out this contradiction. 4. Could be racism, it could also be an indication of working class (being tanned from outdoor labor) seperate from upper class (staying inside and having fancy clothes to cover you) which is classism and basically in the same vwin as racism anyway. Hindu Buddhism 1, 2, & 3. I dont know enough about these to say, but when Hinduism absorbed Buddhism, they created a whole lot of contradictions. Fair points.
The sun shines by day, the moon by night; the warrior is resplendent in armor and the Brahman radiant in meditation. But Buddha, the Awakened One, illumines both day and night by the splendor of his wisdom.
The foundation of Buddhism is the Law of Cause and Effect. Without knowing this deeply, one cannot understand Buddhism or move forward on the path. The Law of Cause and Effect is made up of these three essential guidelines: Good deeds bring good results. Bad deeds bring bad results. Your own deeds bring your own results. Every effect has a cause and a condition. A cause and a condition combine to make an effect. All effects have a cause. All effects have a condition. There are no exceptions. Due to this relationship, the Law of Cause and Effect can more clearly be known as the Law of Cause, Condition, and Effect. A law within Buddhism is a rule that penetrates the Three Worlds and Ten Directions. The Three Worlds are past, present, and future. The Ten Directions are north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest, up, and down. The Three Worlds represent all time, infinity, always. The Ten Directions means any place, everywhere, all countries on the earth. So the Law of Cause and Effect is applicable everywhere, and it never changes. Even if society changes, this fundamental law in Buddhism never will. To give an example, let's look at rice. In order for there to be rice, there needs to be a rice seed. But just a rice seed alone cannot make rice. Proper water, sunlight, soil, and labor are required to harvest the rice. A rice seed dropped on the floor will never grow. Being born human is an effect, and so this must have a cause. Though we are all born human, the lives we are born into are all different. These different effects must have different causes. So each life has its own different cause. For examples, the location we're born like Africa, Japan, or the United States, and the era we were born into differs. Now there are situations that occur in which we do not know the cause. Yet there has to be a cause for those too. Something that happens accidentally doesn't mean it is without a cause. It is simply not yet known or the evidence is not available. Master Shinran taught extensively about the Law of Cause and Effect. It is an essential teaching because without it, you cannot understand the Vow of Amida Buddha and be saved. So what is the future of humanity? What is the destination for all human beings? Happiness Unhappiness We are living to obtain happiness. Favorable or unfavorable fates are effects. Without knowing their cause, we cannot be happy. We all want to know the causes and effects that determine our fate for better or worse. That's why these three lines are so crucial to learn: Good deeds bring good results. Bad deeds bring bad results. Your own deeds bring your own results. To see cause and effect clearly, let's use for example fruits and vegetables. Planting a watermelon seed yields a watermelon. Planting a radish seed yields a radish. You harvest only what you yourself have planted. Watermelon seed ---> Watermelon Radish seed ---------> Radish Own effort ----------> Own result It is impossible to plant a watermelon seed and get a radish, or plant a radish seed and get a watermelon. It will never happen in a million years. Likewise, good effects or a favorable fate can only have come from a good cause. Bad effects or an unfavorable fate can only have come from a bad cause. The relationship of this principle penetrates the Three Worlds and the Ten Directions. A good cause is the equivalent to a good deed or action. A bad cause is the equivalent of a bad deed or action. Suffering from a bad fate, we say we're unlucky or we've been hit by bad luck. But how does luck determine favorable or unfavorable fates? Many attribute it to a god or the curse of an ancestor. But still the reason remains shrouded in vague, unclear answers. Our deeds and our actions determine our fates. Good deeds and actions will result in a good fate. Bad deeds and actions will result in a bad fate. To obtain happiness, we have to do good. No one wants to suffer a bad fate, but we can only avoid a bad fate by not doing bad. This truth penetrates the Three Worlds and the Ten Directions, both timeless and universal. Never has there ever been a case where a good deed has produced a bad effect. Never also has there been a bad deed performed that led to a good effect. Whether we're happy or not is caused solely by the deeds we perform. If a student studies hard, they will get good grades and eventually be employed. We can see clearly how the cause, studying diligently, led to the effect of getting good grades. How deeply you believe in the Law of Cause and Effect shows how deeply you believe in Buddhism. When we think of stealing, we refrain ourselves from doing so in order to avoid the bad effect of being arrested. Again these ideals remain valid throughout the Three Worlds and the Ten Directions. What you sow, you shall reap. The concept of own cause own effect is very important and easily misunderstood. All of our fate at this moment has been brought on by our own deeds. It is our own deeds not those of others. We think in our minds constantly: others' cause, my effect. We think that someone else's deeds bring our effects. We constantly blame others for our misfortune. But this is completely wrong. There is not a single case where occurred. It is not true in the Three Worlds and the Ten Directions. All phenomenon occurs by own cause, own effect. When we're happy we accept the Law of Cause and Effect gladly. I worked really hard to enjoy these results. What I have sewn I am now reaping! But when tides turn and we are in a bad circumstance, we no longer believe it to be true. Yet when we're in trouble or in the wake of a natural disaster we do not think, what I have sewn I am reaping now. We persist otherwise, this cannot be me. If you cannot believe that this is the case in bad times, then truly you don't believe that good times are of your doing either. It's just not the case that others' causes bring own effect. Some may ponder why was I born as the son of horrible parents? They are in miserable situations, and they often hold a grudge on society or other people. But a seed you haven't planted will never occur to anyone rest assured. Others' cause own effect will never occur. Never in life. An example of this is in the story of the thief who blamed the rope. A thief went out and stole someone's belongings. Then he was caught by a rope. He began to suffer and cursed the rope for doing it to him. Who created the pain for this thief? What's the cause? The thief believed it was the rope However had he not stolen, there would not have been a rope. The thief must blame his own crime, created by his own actions. We study hard, and then we can get into a top university. We steal and we meet with misfortune. But do we really understand this point? When we suffer from trouble we know there must be a cause. The actions of someone else quickly become our target. If someone else is drinking alcohol, do you receive the effects of being drunk instead of them? How about you exercise and your friend gets healthier instead? No, if you're cautious with your diet, it's you who becomes leaner. The effects only occur to the person on the diet and their efforts. If you deeply believe in the Law of Cause and Effect, you must lament your misfortunes deeply as your own doing. We tend to instead sympathize with the thief tied down by the rope in those cases. We hold grudges and blame others which shows ignorance of the Law of Cause and Effect. In the next post, I will review this article and go over the incorrect notion of others' cause own effect.
Very good write-out. I believe it means 1. if someone is willing to pay the price in unforeseeable future. He can disregard all laws. He, in fact, must be given the right to choose so. I mean he is now so poor... maybe he'll repay back the guy he rob in the life where (or when) he is rich. It is always fair right? Life never give or take anything more or less. 2. Societies no need a code of law, because the Higher Law must force all bad deeds be made good. Justice will always be served. Even without legal system, people can't help but repay their past lives debts after so many iterations. - Just my little thoughts after hearing so many of Ravi's arguments. It is amazing how he analyse things anyway. : )
I just have one question: what is Buddhism’s basis of defining good and bad? Is there a set of objective moral laws Buddhism accept to differentiate between good and bad? And if yes, who gave such a moral law?
Buddhism isn't about this cause and affect your talking about. Karma is the way we think k of it in the west. More so, all tbis is myself doing, I beat my own heart, I am in this situation therefore it is my doing. My eyes see it and I alone feel it. My emotions are my doing. That's karma. Buddhist don't believe in cause and effect. More so that there is no causeno reason behind all this. No destinstion to get to. Theres no effect from it unlesd the ego is still intact, for someone to be the affected. Bhudda jltimste goal to quite idenifying with the ego

@@ChessJitsu You haven't answered my question. If there is no one counting the deeds and assigning your next birth, just say so, you don't have to tap dance. Where in the Buddhist Scriptures does it say that the knowledge of the mechanism of rebirth is irrelevant? The mechanism of how rebirth occurs is central to Buddhism. If you tell people to pay attention to their good and bad deeds, then the mechanism of how that judgment occurs is important to know and understand.

That’s the dumbest argument I have ever heard. So if the Dalai Lama does something that contradicts Buddhist teachings, that means Buddhism contradicts itself? A lot of people including Buddhists do not understand Buddhism. The pali canon say to get rid of tanha, which is the desire for sin. It never says to get rid of ALL desire. Chandha or wholesome desire is to be cultivated.
Ravi was a sinner, the same as you and I. The difference is Ravi knows and accepted that Jesus will judge Him if he didn't repent. You may know that Jesus will be judging you, but you certainly haven't repented of your sins. Stop straw manning Christianity. The OT laws are 3 groups: moral (universal for all time), ceremonial and civil (or judicial). The moral laws apply to all humans for all times, the ceremonial and civil laws apply only to the Jewish people as long as the Jewish Temple and old Covenant is active. The Jewish Temple is destroyed and the law of Jesus and his New Covenant is now in force.
@alisterrebelo9013 Nobody is counting your karma, infact your karma your current action your state of mind in the present moment while doing an action is the result, you misunderstood the concept or the fact which you can see can feel.... Concept of karma isn't that You are killing someone and thinking that someday someone will come and kill you, or that someone will roast you in hell for this act, No it won't work like that. But Can't you see your suffering when you were killing someone? Your lost peace in that moment was the result and do you think it was only for that time? No, next time you will walk fast on the same path, you will react fast in the same manner because now your brain has neurological connection which will insist you to react in the same manner on subconscious level even if you haven't killed the second person physically but in mind intentionally you have almost killed the person, now again stuck in same cycle of action reaction and suffering. The same law implies on rebirth, you can understand it through an example of driver a car but you are refilling it after every mile so it's never gonna stop, to stop the car just don't put fule in tank, now replace car with mind and fule with thoughts and countless impressions on mind, i hope you got the answer what was the reason for your car to going on. But you will never be satisfy with these discussions and question answers because you have never experienced the thoughtless state of mind and to experience it there is no shortcut, you have to sit with yourself. Metta to you😊

One of the most common comment when a Buddist faces an objection about it’s own contradiction is:” you do not understand the Buddist”. That is not how you have a good debate. Like it or not, a Buddist has to answer 4 questions are mentioned in the video: the origin, meaning, morality and détiny and I am convinced Buddism can not answer all of them in logical and consistence way. First is origin, how does a Buddist face Kalam logical argument that will lead to a conclusion the existence of a transcendent God? Secondly is meaning of life, how does a Buddist answer the meaning of life because if there is no God, life is ultimately absurd, even atheist phylosophers agree that. How about morality? Richar Dawkins- an atheist said:”there is no good or evil” at all. Even in Buddist, Truth is relative. Now, there is no evidences for Karma, Dhama, recornation and Gautama was defeated by death, just like a normal person. So Gautama is not reliable in supplying the way to escape from suffering
Budhism is not a religion . Basis of Budhism is reincarnation and law of karma ( Proofs for reincarnation and karma can be found in books and on internet ). Why do we need Budhism is impermanence , sufferings and concept of no soul . 🙏🙏🙏
This gentleman is completely confused.. giving up Desire in Buddhism means let go off negative desires such as desire of harming other beings n nature .Negative desire which arises from body speech and mind. But positive desire are one of the most important essence for the Buddhist. That’s y there are lots of compassionate bodhisattvas in Buddhism. They DESIRE is to help other bings from ignorance and ego like this gentleman. Anyway lots of bad translation from Sanskrit to English during early age of translation.
I do not think he understamd buddhism the way i do. He says its a way to end desire. Yet its not. This whole ending desires stuff is just a game buddha invented, a marketing game... why be spiritual ? Because you suffer he said... you dont have to believe in eternal life to believe you suffer.. he says stop desiring so you stop suffering. How to do this ? When trying you ll find out you CANNOT stop desiring ,its impossible...the only to do this is through trying to stop desiring ,wich in itself is a desire... The self he talks about is your ego ,wich i believe is the idea of yourself ,without connection what so ever with God, this 'thing' is an illusion ,its not real ,there is no you who has no connection with god. Buddhism is the path through introspection (meditation on yourself)to realise the illusionary idea of self. Yet he REFUSES to speak about this realisation ,thus refuse to claim that there is or isnt a God, it's for you to find that out because if you find that out ,you wont question yourself if you just believe that because some1 told you so... he didnt have to tell you there is a God because he knew that when sinserely asks ,he shall receive. All buddhism does a pave a way for you to get at a point in life where you seriously ask ,and thus you shall be given ,he didn't habe to say what you would be given ,because he knew you would.

This man is clearly uneducated on Buddhism, Buddha himself acknowledged the existence of gods. Buddhism does not teach us to suppress anything but to understand these feelings and use them to do good and help end suffering.
All I am hearing is him attacking persons who happen to be Buddhists. That is not the same as saying Buddhism is contradictory to itself. The female monk has her personal problems and clearly not ready for monastery life. The Dalai Lama desires freedom for his people, but why can't he? Given the way his people has been treated I think he actually should. It's not like he is fighting a bloody war. Besides he hasn't been declared a Buddha has he? Buddhists who haven't let go of desires are very normal Buddhists. Besides, the goal of Buddhists is not simply controlling or getting rid of desires. It is to reach Nirvana. The confused Buddhist friend is definitely confused, I'll agree that ressurection is not reincarnation. But Nirvana is a state of Joy of Freedom from rebirth. It is not non being. Last, if one actually delve into it Buddha did give sound and clear instruction to doing the good deeds. So, he only needs to ask how to the right person or read the right books.
IMO the monk that he interviewed is a poor example of Buddhism. I was a Christian that was a missionary for two years and I missed my family too. I also know monks that do something similar. Yet we both only do it for a span of 2-3 years. The problem with this monk is that she is causing more suffering by starvation, the same way buddha wasn’t able to end suffering when he starved himself. The truth is Fasting and detachment only works at certain moments. When your desires are not tangible, you suffer because you can’t possess them. So the solution is to detach intangible desires in exchange for tangible ones. In other words, this mother should see her family. But she should be prepared to detach and find something else the moment they pass.

I desire to remove all desires. This is fundamental to Buddhism, and a complete contradiction. WHY do you want to remove all desires? There will always be a preferential desire. And to claim you must remove all desires is to invoke a desire to do so.
I am not a scholar but to say that the goal of Buddhism is to remove all desire can't be correct. So you are saying the Buddha advised against the desire to drink water when person is thirsty. In the case where you have kind of desires: you are short but you want to be tall; You want to live forever; You want things to be permanent; You want things to be other than the way they are. These kinds of desire cause suffering. And these are the kinds of desires are what Buddhism is talking about.

In Buddhism, the pursuit of Justice must be let go. Realising that reasoning is emptiness, and the self is of no existence. Buddhism points the self in this direction. This is in stark contrast to Christianity, where the preacher asks, why is there Justice? Who brought it into the world and why? So these two world views can never meet, they are on completely different tangents. Every world view is of the..shall we say..opinion that it is the correct view. Every world view is so different, so to follow one, is to already move away from the others.
Namaste to beautiful People on Earrh. One can not reach Nirvana with attachments when their Athma or Soul being held by those family members. There must be complete freedom during and post Nitrvana stage as we will enter an infinite blisful state upon enlightenment. Hence, one must be ruthless in leaving attachments like the prince Siddartha did once. One must be born again in this same life or the next to understand what suffering is about. It is only then we find purposes of everything that had happened in the past. Leaving desires means to leave all material benefits and attachments or desires which are of no permanent value. This doesn't mean that a spiritual being can not have a spiritual intention manifesting during the final lifecycle. Example: one can be a teacher with no commercial benefits or any agenda while serving the planet beings. Also , hope for a permanent and free land for some beautiful planet beings to live in harmony.. hence, Dalai Lama is a good example here.
How divine.

His need for a god seems to be making him angry.
What a remarkable understanding, i see the same way as you

You couldn't be more wrong in your presumption of Christians... at least true believers. Everything under the sun is vanity and meaningless. Our true hope and joy is found in Jesus Christ alone. In our love and appreciation for his sacrifice on the cross, we WANT to deny ourselves so that we can live a life of service to others, as He would have us. Materialistic "Christians " have substituted the most high God with the god of this world.
So you think you need a god for your bad works to give you sorry , just think
Here is your logical fallacy- If X believes in God then X does't think.

The heart of Buddhism is recognizing suffering and practicing to end worldly illusions that keep us from enlightenment. This is similar to the Christian concept of living without sin. But there is no need to seek salvation outside of yourself in Buddhism. It does not require a Christ or Muhammad figure to lead them to god. The Buddhist's goal is not union with god like the Christian or Muslim's goal. Those religions fail because people like yourself cannot prove the existence of god.

Before you argue, read the sermon on the mount. When finished, go read Buddhist teachings that existed LONG BEFORE the birth of Christ
Yeshua (Jesus) is the one true Living God, and He is omnipresent and exists outside of time and space. So His teachings existed thousands of years before He took on the form of man two thousand years ago and tabernacled with us as Yeshua. Before I became a Christian I studied the teaches of Budda, and the sermon on the mount is not taken from Budda. Yeshua is preaching about taking the Torah to the next level. The Torah is roughly 3 thousand years old, and was given to Moses by Yeshua. That's why Yeshua is called the Word of God, because He gave the Torah to Moses, and He is the same God who appeared to Moses in the burning bush. The great I Am 🙌 please don't twist Yeshua's words to mean something they are not. God bless you 🙏

Hi friend Sie Soon Ki Buddha did not remain silent
How did Buddha reject the Caste System of Hinduism ?
At the time of the Buddha the caste system was firmly established in India. According to this system, a person's position in society was determined from the time he was born and there was no way to change his lot in life. There were four castes, or classes, of people in society: The Brahmins or priests, who claimed to be the highest caste and the purest of peoples
The warriors
The merchants and traders
The untouchables, who were considered the lowest class. The Buddha said: By birth one is not an outcaste,
By birth one is not a Brahmin; Holy man
By deeds alone one is an outcaste,
By deeds alone one is a Brahmin; Holy man
By birth one is not an outcaste,
By birth one is not a Holy Man;
By deeds alone one is an outcaste,
By deeds alone one is a holy man.

And hence my warning...

Mark 7:9 I think you quoted wrongly, says nothing about killing children.
Mark 7:9 (NKJV) "He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition."
Christian worldview: You don't go hell for not believing in Jesus, you go to hell for your sins. A perfect sinless person not believing in Jesus can still go heaven. Cheers!
Matthew 11:20- its not them ignoring him, but they DON'T REPENT.
Matthew 11:20(NKJV) "Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent:"
And Jesus just lamented that their path down the road will not appear good ON JUDGEMENT DAY.
And where did he mentioned "dreadful deaths"? ... you meant "Hades"? If you are, Hades is not "dreadful deaths".

Only one thing about his talk was correct is THAILAND has yet not recognized and officiated female monks though she normally did, since THAILAND had first embraced Buddhism a thousand several years ago.

"Desire is not desirable" is not a traditional Buddhist doctrine.

Tree and fruit same
If no one exists then why have compassion for no one.
“Be still, and know that I am God”
- Psalms 46:10 (KJV)

You're reasoning, while fair, is still attempting to make a sense of self or a continuing individual soul.

OK, as a primer to your research let me give you one clue: Virgin Birth is a typical Indian idea. Many births of famous Indian legendary figures are attributes to Virgin Births.
List of Indians born of Virgin Birth according to Indian legends:
1) Buddha - virgin mother Maya
2) Karna - virgin mother Kunthi
3) Vyasa - virgin mother Satyavathi
Virgin Birth is part of larger Indian idea of miraculous births (to explain away people born out of wedlock or born in low castes).
Other miraculous births in Indian legends:
1) Dronacharya
2) Krupacharya
3) Rushya Shrunga
4) Dhurvasa
There are many more such examples in Indian legends.
May I suggest you consider the following…

its funny hearing someone simplify buddhism to this level, the buddhist suttas are equal to 11, thats ELEVEN bibles in length. there's no person I've seen on youtube that's christian that's seriously studied it to an amount he can make an accurate description of it. buddhism is about letting go, contemplation. its no different then the contemplatives in the christian tradition except much deeper and more detailed instructions on letting go( or the christian, practicing the presence of god)
Do you want to see evil people punished? Well that's exactly what God did to all the idol worshipping nations as recorded in the Old Testament...because in Him alone is the objective standard of morality...not the individual in his futile thinking. @greglejacques1094 Dude what are you talking about?
He can’t reply to you because he has been dead since May 2020.
@Greg LeJacques What is hell to you?

Contradictions in Buddhism
Theravada:
Mahayana & Vajrayana:
Hindu Buddhism:

@@ManlyServant All religions are "man-made" by definition
Thervada
1.& 3.Reincarnation is not a part of the original, purist Buddhist teaching. You bring up a fair point.
2. Desire itself is not the issue, it's our attachment to those desires. You get hungry and desire food, which is fine and normal according to Buddhism. Learning to let go of the attachment of longing to attain Nirvana is one of the last hurtles practitioners often meet.
Mahayana & Vajrayana
Hindu Buddhism
1, 2, & 3. I dont know enough about these to say, but when Hinduism absorbed Buddhism, they created a whole lot of contradictions. Fair points.

right... and the bible doesnt contradict itself at all lol
The foundation of Buddhism is the Law of Cause and Effect. Without knowing this deeply, one cannot understand Buddhism or move forward on the path. The Law of Cause and Effect is made up of these three essential guidelines:
Good deeds bring good results.
Happiness Unhappiness
We are living to obtain happiness. Favorable or unfavorable fates are effects. Without knowing their cause, we cannot be happy. We all want to know the causes and effects that determine our fate for better or worse. That's why these three lines are so crucial to learn:
Good deeds bring good results.
Bad deeds bring bad results.
Your own deeds bring your own results.
To see cause and effect clearly, let's use for example fruits and vegetables. Planting a watermelon seed yields a watermelon. Planting a radish seed yields a radish. You harvest only what you yourself have planted.
Watermelon seed ---> Watermelon
Radish seed ---------> Radish
Own effort ----------> Own result
It is impossible to plant a watermelon seed and get a radish, or plant a radish seed and get a watermelon.
I believe it means
1. if someone is willing to pay the price in unforeseeable future.

More so, all tbis is myself doing, I beat my own heart, I am in this situation therefore it is my doing. My eyes see it and I alone feel it. My emotions are my doing. That's karma. Terry Zhou no. No real moral lsw other than the truth bringd Light, and Light id Light no matter how dark the cave is. Buhddha taught use that good snd evil are just symbols de cary with use.
Metta to you😊
I guess this guy have to revisit Buddhist teachings. And the truth what Buddha taught ,he gave the way fully appreciating the meaning of life of paradox .classic example is rainbow. If you want to enjoy rainbow (take selfie’s)you better don’t go near ,if you go near then the illusion disappear.so our life is like a rainbow , it’s there but at the same time it’s also not there, bottom line is if you have desire or not doesn’t matter ,you can have party and have all those worldly pleasures. But at the same Buddha said you have to be aware all the compounded things will fall apart, what you see is not what it is and what you see and what appears is all union.(like the ice and water)
He won’t be able to revisit Buddhist teachings because he’s already dead.

Kalam argument is trash

Who is counting your good and bad deeds? Who determines where you are reborn as?
Ravi Zacharias makes up stories to suit his points. ...... He is noted for this. He is not debating here.

I agree, that is why never could become a very good Christian. The Bible stories are illogical and foolish.
There are people who are entirely forgotten 3 treasures, the Buddha, Dharma and the Sangha. Such people destroy their country’s sanctuaries, burned the sacred Scriptures, make the teachers of righteousness serve them, and thus violate the sacred teachings of the Buddha. They are also among the worst criminals.? And why? Because they destroy the spiritual faith of their nation. Which is it foundation and the source of its virtues. Accepting things as they are is the end of desire. Accepting things as they are ends the karmic bind. How can one be bound by that which is already accepted? ✌🏻💙
@greglejacques1094 - why would one kill themselves when they accept things as they are?
there is a difference between desire and craving. Buddhists see craving as problematic, while there could be a so-called "skillful desire". The original word for craving was "trishna" which is something like a dire thirst
@Greg LeJacques its the opposite. We believe that all human are trapped with this thirst and buddha is showing us ways to get out of that. Its not about removing desire out of life which was misrepresented in this video

@@modernwesternbuddhism7671 I can't reply to your comment above for whatever reason but I saw this so that's why I'm replying here. Anyway, I'm a computer scientist by trade and from that way of thinking I dont see your logic. There is no way of directly transferring one thing to another, as you would be reborn( I can't remember your exact terminology), and that makes no sense to me. Unless you believe in something outside of time, matter and space. But then your mind being in anything but a human also makes no sense to me. I see a brain as computing power. We have different amounts of computing power in different amounts as a human. Just as a computer would have a processor and RAM... in my mind I visualise a transition from human to, let's use a butterfly as an example. I go from 100% brain power to 5%. Yet I have to fit in the same stuff as before and realistically accumulating more as I transition further. Which makes no sense to me. It would be like trying to run chrome on a computer from WW2... it's just not happening. I dont get how you can say that's coherent. It's a great idea and I have nothing against pursuing peace, joy and a greater spiritual level. I just, personally, dont see what your seeing
Ravi is from India, the birthplace of Buddhism. You do realize that right?
This man is clearly uneducated on Buddhism, Buddha himself acknowledged the existence of gods. Buddhism does not teach us to suppress anything but to understand these feelings and use them to do good and help end suffering.
If Buddhism is based on letting go of attachment, why are they so attached to the idea of detachment?
I guess some are and some aren’t. Who knows?
@Greg LeJacques Maybe and maybe not
All I am hearing is him attacking persons who happen to be Buddhists.
If God is omnipresent how can I achieve union with what is already everywhere? Union is an illusion. ✌🏻💙

@@sabrinalibakari1 - Is God everywhere?
Because there is difference between physical and atman.
Difference is an illusion. Ask yourself: who am I?
His knowledge of Buddhism is very superficial.
I know Buddhism. It takes both sides of the argument. He happens to know a lot about Buddhism, he is, after all, from India.
I doubt that any serious Buddhist monastic could not explain the difference between Chanda(wanting) and Tanha(grasping) to Ravi.

I desire to remove all desires. This is fundamental to Buddhism, and a complete contradiction. WHY do you want to remove all desires? There will always be a preferential desire. And to claim you must remove all desires is to invoke a desire to do so.
Its says to be smart about your desires not get rid of your desires since you can't do that in the end of the day.
Buddha didn’t have no desires, it was his goal to spread his knowledge after his teachings to everyone.
You don't know the difference between desire and will
I am not a scholar but to say that the goal of Buddhism is to remove all desire can't be correct.
@@imfine-ok1536 There are words that we think has that particular meaning and some of us may think other meanings which is hard to get your message across in English language or any other language. Self reliance is the key 🔑 to Enlightenment, as stated by the Buddha. No one may walk the path for you, only you can walk your own path. They may show you directions, and guides but only you can do that. Only you can choose to not harm sentient beings. We are all Buddha’s, and we have to realize that.

As long as our intentions are spiritual and have great common benefits to others deriving from that action, the dilesire is a good word I guess.. lol
