FLY FISHING TECHNIQUES FOR BIG BASS

- Jenna McKeown has driven to beautiful Algoma Country in search of big smallmouth bass on a fly. She is joined by professional guide Adam Vallee who shows her some of the many public access lakes that possess outstanding bass fishing, especially for topwater! Jenna and Adam are staying at Limber Lost Lodge which is ideally located in the heart of some of the top bass fishing in Northern Ontario. Jenna learns a great deal from Adam about structure, fly pattern choices and retrieve techniques. Great show demonstrating that the ladies can catch big bass on a fly too!

i came on the video for fly fishing techniques and all i got were ads for this camp ill never go to.
😢
I had the pleasure of fishing with Adam last summer in Algoma. Absolutely fantastic guide, I would highly recommend to anyone.
Beautiful Fishing technique Congratulations!
This place is incredible.
God be with you!👍🎣
While I appreciate the high production quality of these videos and that they are freely available, it didn't actually give me much information for fly fishing bass. Having the Host or Narrator explain how they're presenting the lure and why, the type of structure they're fishing and why, etc. would be appreciated.
Agreed, that was not one of our better videos for information. Others have more techniques and info. Appreciate the feedback.
@@newflyfisher yea I think why me and the other commenters are mentioning this though is because of the title of the video. The video says we will get techniques and we don't. It's fine to make these kinds of videos but just don't label them as technique videos
5 years ago , I Don't Care , this was enjoyable as though it was yesterday, Thank You
Great trip. Good job! Beautiful fish!
Nice video. One of the best I've seen. Had no idea of the quality of the SM fishery up there. Thanks!
I like this channel very much. It helps me a lot.
Dudes just rockin a fat dip the whole time
Nice vid. Love that happy smile. I’ve been wanting to do some bass fishing on my fly rod. This gives me a place to start.
Awesome!!!
Beautiful video. Appreciated seeing a female host. I learned something new- never thought of a streamer under a popper. Will definitely try that!
That combination works great with multiple spices of fish, also salt and brackish water! Really cool 😎 when you catch a double, one on each fly!!
Great video. I really really liked the chat about the weather, would like to have heard more. Many thanks
Yup, that's some ridiculously good smallmouth fishing!
Great to see a guide who actually understands weather patterns and uses correct terminology. Hearing commentary in some of the older videos saying "multiple cold fronts coming through" in a single day makes me recoil.
Great video, Jenna. I learned a little more about technique and the camera work is really good. It gives me something to dream about. Good luck, Adam.
Awesome vid
Some lovely bass on the popper there 😊
Good video! Would like to see how and what you used to rig the popper and dropper.
Cool video
Holy buckets! those larger SMs are right about the size of the redfish I get down here in Charleston SC. A couple of them looked to be almost twice my best.
Good tips thanks! I'll try these soon. (for poppers)
I noticed at 17:50 when your reeling in loose slack line with the fish held. I like to put the slack line between under my pinky finger of the rod holding hand. That way you can reel in taught line while holding the fish with index finger.
NICE
Beautiful lake with big fish, with a highway near it so access should be easy too good to be true. Is this video just an ad to come to a privately owned stretch of water that you need to pay in order to fish?
A bad day of fishin is better than a good day at work
Man if you're looking for big largemouth you need to be looking at texas or florida for those. You have a good chance at catching a 10 - 16 lbs largemouth in those lakes. I regularly catch 7 and 8 pounders in TX on my fly rod.
For bass, Is the leader and tippet different from that of trout?
good question... really it depends on the situation. Often though, you can use the same leader and tippet.
@@newflyfisher Awesome thank you very much.
Contrary to some comments, I am entertained with the content! A trip like this destination, with expert guidance and great results looks like fun! Sign me up! Subscribed!

I love the channel but I have to interject. Pushing double digits would be the next world record small mouth. I highly doubt you’re finding anything over 7.
Agreed. There are some area in Northern Ontario where they have caught 7-10 pound smallmouth but in general they average 2-4 pounds.
Why are there so many toxic comments on this one? I agree that the title is a tad misleading, as there’s not much technique content here, but it’s just fishing guys. It’s a fun hobby. What are people expecting exactly…? Relax geesh.
Social media has made it easy for people to be aholes behind when face to face they would never say the same things.
Step one: fish a spot where the fish have never seen a fly and there is minimal fishing pressure compared to an urban stream
Yeah I'll take her out but only if you feature me on the next video ;) Love you guys and your daughter is beautiful Mark! Tight lines!
One lousy technique shown for a 21 minute video that showcases a lake that most will never goto and a kid that wont land her own fish for whatever reasons.. brilliantly played New Fly Fishers ;)

Bass fishing = Fishing on a boat? So what about us bank-bound anglers who can't afford a boat?😢
Spose it means… you’re stuck on the bank. What are ya expecting exactly? There are plenty of UA-cam videos on bank fishing. Just type it in.
Lol 6wts for bass
what do you recommend
@@coltoncramer7769 I use an 8wt. heavy enough to through big streamers and poppers without over loading
@@coltoncramer7769 If we can manage to catch 10 lb+ bull trout in large rivers throwing great big streamers like Double Bunnies on 6 wt flyrods... that's probably why we don't have a problem catching 5 - 6 lb trout on the same rods. Sometimes even with the same flies.
Y'know, when somebody seems to have a problem catching a bass on a flyrod unless it's bigger than a 6 wt... I don't think the 6 wt flyrod is their problem.
You can fish for bass with anything from 5 to 10 it’s really just preference. Unless you’re in Texas, then maybe stick to the heavier weights.
The host doesn’t touch or land her own fish. Is there a reason ?
This is a production quality video. What the actual fuck are you on about.
I’m going to guess no one wants to fish with you. Cause I rely on my mates when I’m pulling in a fish especially off a boat. But have fun in your loneliness. 😬
She was born with a rare allergy to fish slime. One drop of the stuff and boom, it’s lights out. Makes fishing tough, but she does her best, she’s a real trooper.
There’s a guide standing right beside her, he’s just helping out. I don’t think she doesn’t want to for any particular reason. He’s just there. Two pairs of hands make lighter work.
Hey ! Could someone tell me. Why anyone would 👎 this video. Are thay vegetarians , or just sad gitts .
Looking for fishing techniques, get adds for a lodge and lake I'll never go to 1/10 of the video is about fishing
@ash 098 theres something called a skip button
She’s a great angler. key word she.
I watch these videos and the handling of the fish is terrible. So many dry hands. I feel bad for the fish.
That’s more of a trout gripe. Bass don’t gaf they’re resilient for the most part.
