Did some of my Traction training down at Mollington street, learning how to couple up loco's etc. Used to be a very busy freight and passenger depot. Stanlow work, dock work, loads of Trip jobs down the North Wales coast - sadly now all gone. The original GWR booking on point was all still there in the 1980's, gave a real feel of the old steam shed and working. Mollington train crew were all a friendly bunch too.
Sad it's closed and loss of jobs I honestly believe places like this were still here now Birkenhead would be more thriving. Not been there for a while but I'm sure it's still waste land such a waste. My Dad now 77 a few years back showed me Birkenhead Woodside station oddly standing on the bridge you could definitely imagine it in operation an ery feel.
Thanks I should check notifications more often I've subscribed to you. I'm more interested in Rollercoaster Trains ha but I show my Dad as many train pictures as possible. If your a train fan like him lots of uploads from the 1980s on trips himself and sadly late friend both went on.
This was around the time Merseyrail switched to using new class 507 and 508 units, you can see some of the old class 503s stored/scrapped in the sidings here.
Wow awsome footage,
Thankyou so much indeed for posting.
😊

1983 is not that long ago.... what a shame, nice filming by you and your dad, thanks for sharing. sub and like from me
It's long enough ago that very close to half the people alive in the UK today hadn't been born then.

There were also some class 108 DMUs at the depot, presumably for the Birkenhead to Wrexham services via what is now known as the Borderlands line
