Interracial marriage involves two beating hearts where no harm is ever done to either. Abortion involves one person two beating hearts and the stoppage of one beating heart. The rightness or wrongness of any of this does not matter which year it is. Just as killing or theft does not change the wrongness of it or rightness of it according to the year in which it is committed.

It's funny to me how everytime we try to pass a law it's like "still some 200 Republicans voted against the Stop Human Suffering Act". Meanwhile the Democrats are like "yeah we proposed this law, but basic human rights just aren't high on our list of priorities right now guys."

@Jay Italia I mean it's not really an excuse. They would oppose the bill even if it were just a sentence. If you're really trying to help people, you propose a compromise, at least. But these people just shoot down everything and cite the dumbest excuse as to why. They don't say yeah let's do this part but not that part. This is what most USAmericans don't understand - The Democrats are also conservatives, just not the extremist fascists the Republicans have become. As a fursuiter, I can attest that your vision and hearing are greatly impacted when you are in a suit. I will also note that mascot costumes are built differently from fursuits. Mascot costumes are generally made for multiple wearers, so the fit may not be right. Fursuiters often get their suits made specifically for them.
That being said, the character definitely saw those children. If she had just kept walking without any acknowledgement, I would buy that they didn't see them. The shaking of the head the the dismissive gesture shows that she clearly saw them. I find it more upsetting that this wasn't a one-off. This is ridiculous and they should honestly be fired. Fursuiters have suits for a number of reasons, but if you are a mascot like this, your sole purpose is to entertain the public and promote the brand.

I completely agree! Unfortunately, not every park with costumed characters holds the same standards. I was lucky enough to work at a park with very high standards for its performers, which required learning a lot of "in-character" gestures/behaviors, but also meant that they kept our safety in mind. Every character had a handler, and the interactions were one-on-one, so each was special for the guest coming up to get a hug and/or picture. The handlers themselves were also costume performers, just on a different shift for the week, so they knew what could and could not be seen, what was and wasn't appropriate behavior, etc.
Obviously, a parade is a different atmosphere, but for performer safety *alone* there *should* have been a handler nearby, accounting for blind spots and ready to step in if the performer had a health issue. I worked many shifts as a handler to roaming characters, and it's important that someone's there to lead them "backstage" if they have an emergency! The lack of a handler alone is what tells me this park has very lax standards for their performers, with no respect for the dignity of the character, and the satisfaction of the guests/fans there to see them. I'm disappointed but not surprised that this "Rosita" has a history of ignoring PoC guests.

Beyond that, you're trained to know your blind spots and where to reach out, which is easier with the help of a handler to telegraph which direction they're coming. @jancleve9635 2 роки тому

@@Edwardjonez Observant maybe... regarding the bright. It is a small clip and I do not know how bad vision & hearing is hindered by that costume. If you show me the whole parade and the guy is really ignoring black kids, okay. If you show me multiple parades ;from different days;with the same guy ignoring black kids. Great and real evidence of a racism problem buuuut for me is the stuff Trevor showed not enough to call someone a racist. I am just bright enough to need actual evidence of intentional misbehavior to accuse somebody of being racist.
From the construction of the head, I can see how it is a problem. If you need an experiment, take a thin black t-shirt, pull it up to your eybrows. Now take a scarf and fix it over your ears. Then tape a 1 pound weight at the front and back of your head. Then tape half a paperplate under your eyes and at eybrow hight. That is your field of vision. If you have done so and are still completly sure that this was intentional. okay

Yep, his slavish devotion to the conservative cause means he will gladly vote against his own self interests. If the overturning of the 13th amendment and the reintroduction of the chattel-slavery of Black people in the US ever made it to the SCOTUS, best believe Clarence Thomas would vote for it. Hence why the African-American community views any African-American who supports republican politics as being mentally ill.

It's so disheartening to feel like your vote doesn't count in a state where people refuse to think their rights end where another person's rights begin. You want to keep things traditional, cool go you, but don't push that on the rest of us. You have the right to do you, why can't the rest of us? Don't we have politicians to represent us, because we couldn't travel from every state to go to DC to vote, or holding a huge vote like we do for president for everything was too cumbersome? Don't we live in a world infinitely more connected than the founders imagined? Can't we get with the times and do with less politicians and represent our selves now by doing more voting through computers ourselves? I mean they have us vote for american idol from our homes, can't we just represent ourselves a little better?

I say fire these 2 because saying you can teach a person not to be racist when they are is simply ridiculous

I've been put in that situation before as "The Easter Bunny." I adjusted the head so that I could see the kids, and my boss told me to straighten the head out so that the Easter Bunny "didn't look sad." It's a real thing for the person in the costume to have to wear it in a way that doesn't fit. I needed someone to hold my hand the entire time because all I could see was the ceiling. It's not necessarily the person wearing the costume that is snubbing people, it's probably their bosses making them wear ill-fitting costumes!
