Tried 10 different things before coming here. Turns out all I needed to do was slam the absolute sh** out of the lid 😂
lol. best response here
Best response ever!!!!
I will try this first. Lol
😂😂🔥
Lmfao
Yes!!! You guys are AWESOME!!! My wife would beg to differ though, thought she was getting a new washer😂🤣. No sir, easy easy back on line!!!!! Pump was clogged.
😂😂😂don’t do wifey ! That was cute
Bahahahahhahah🤣🤣🤣
I'm on the same boat with my wife. Hopefully I can fix it.
Is yours a Kenmore? Do you have to access the back bottom of machine?😢 I have mine in an alcove, guess, I gotta pull it out..???
@@marciloni12 my kenmore machine lets u disable the lid lock and has a deep fill mode with a Triple Action Agitator
Well, can't thank you enough. In less time than it took to watch this video, my washer is draining again! It was the lid\switch. The plastic nubbin that forces the switch down was fine, but the switch was loose, so it didn't depress it far enough. You saved me $$$ AND big headache. I passed it on, donating $100 to a student fundraiser. Figure you saved me at least that much.
Wow, awesome thanks!!!
LEPERCOLONY1
Pass it forwards. 👍❤️
Same here, switch just wasn’t pressing far enough. Stuck a piece of plastic in it to fix at midnight 😀

yo this just worked for me LMAO
dear washing machine people, stop making washing machines with lid switches. I want to look into the machine while its on thats the whole point of a top loader.
A, buy an older machine. There's a guy on YT who collects them from the 50s and 60s. They'd have an agitator and yes, you can leave the lid open.
I've known baby diaper machines that were so tiny, you could fit one big towel in the spinner (not a dryer, lol), but it was much smaller than a 6 foot counter, tho.
Guys, more detail needs to be noted regarding the spring clips holding on the front panel. Be sure people put their putty knife "below" the clips....I spent 45 minutes trying to figure this out.
Them hose can be stubborn
Omg
them hose ain't loyal
They sure can
Just helped save my sister in law some money! Figured out how to get to the drain pump and found a Bobby pin stuck inside preventing the drain motor from spinning. Took it out and did a test rinse felt the water in the drain hose almost immediately!
I opened my side load washing machine and found out it hadn’t drained any of the water. Like the scene 3/4 of the way in the Titanic when the Hall ways started to get filled up with water just gushing out of this thing. @ least if you have one that you load from the top, you won’t look like you’ve been at a water park all day when you figure out your washing machine doesn’t drain.
I had a lot of clothes in the machine, so I just moved my clothes around and some bubbles came to the surface of the water. I sort of slammed the lid down and it continued the cycle. Thanks a lot!
Trying this tonight
cool story bro. didn’t work for me
@@gracep2910 lmfaoooooo
Unbalanced.
Female portion of trigger apparatus on my lid came loose on the inside of the top, reached in and used some duct tape to secure it and it works again, thanks!
Hi I just ordered a drain pump from you guys hooked it up & it seems to be draining now but there is water sitting in the barrel. I can hear it draining but for some reason it's a few inches left over in the barrel. All hoses are clear from any obstructions & like I said I just ordered a new drain pump from you guys. Also, it seems to be getting stuck when it's suppose to drain & do the spin cycles. I think it's the timer...
Did you ever get a response to this situation? Might be the same issue mine seems to be having
Mine is the same did you figure it out
Terry Porter Nope... Ended up a getting a new one sadly
Well thank you so much!!! I watch the video almost all and then went try the slammed the door....and it work!!! Its spinning and draining again!
Repair clinic makes fixing things easy🌚
I keep washing machines for a long time and repair them until it just gets too expensive. I have had the problem where it wont drain several times. Most of the times it was the lid switch. This is the easiest thing to check first. One time it was a bad pump. This is a lot more diffecult to repair than the lid switch. Check the safety switch first. You dont have to take any panels off on most models. Unplug the washer before removing the switch since you will have a live wire exposed when the switch is removed.
This was awesome video! For me, it was the lid switch assembly. The plastic lid switch assembly broke off its mounting position. The screws are still attached to the body of the washer but the mounting holes on the switch assembly was cracked and dislodged. Since the switch was never engaged, the washer would not move on to drain mode. I think the lid switch assembly broke of its mounting due to time (15 yrs of use) and occasional slamming of the lid during that time period.
I replaced the lid switch' it worked 4 times' then quit' than I replaced the pump motor's it worked another 4 times' then quit' please someone help me
I had this issue... I was inspecting the drain pump and noticed a blue wire was cut. I simple tied them together with a wire nut and the washer is fine now.
Thank you! My lid switch mount broke and stopped it from working, a very quick fix! I will be ordering from you all from now on!
I have a Kenmore 800 washer that drains and spins just fine, but right before it finishes a normal cycle, and has drained and spun, it fills up with water again and then just stops completely. The spin cycle is set to 1 cycle. Any thoughts why it would starting filling with water again after a normal cycle?
This was immensely helpful! Thank you for sharing the knowledge.
Thank you so much, this was a life and wallet saver!
Thank you Jesus for the goodness of this company. You just saved me at least $800. It was the lid switch. Took the switch out, spliced the wires together to test… and tada!
You're welcome!

I can hear the timer clicking with the lid closed but it won't do anything in any cycle. Solution?
I hear water under the basket. Is that normal for a floating basket? I have a Kenmore HE machine
I just watch these videos for fun ;-;
My problem is the water did not drain. It did not complete the cycle. It starts when i pull out the knob to start the cycle but it does not go past that. It does agitate, so that is not the problem. I have not taken it apart yet but that is next.
Yeah, but on some agitator types (before they got rid of them), you can have the lid open UNTIL the spin cycle, as I recall it. That's where mine locks up. So, lid latch, clog or the pump.
Go with easiest and cheapest first.
Hose and drain. If you know a plumber. Then lid lock. Then pump in back.
Hot damn 1 min fix after watching countless videos. Thank God for you.
I was able to figure out I had a faulty lid switch… kept me from having to buy a new washer. Thank you!

Excellent video. Saved me money!! There was a sock in the drain pump. DIY.Thank you!!
Awesome fixed it thank you.
My top load frigidaire affinity still has water in the tub as if it not completely draining what do I do
I have the same problem, nothing is plugged, was it your pump?
Literally just pulled out 2 baby socks from my water pump
Good job!
🔴🔴➡️ UNPLUG FROM WALL- ALWAYS, bcuz SWITCHES have LIVE WIRES
A Great help. My problem sorted out in minutes
I accidentally left my washer open while it was filling up then it just stopped and now I have my blankets and sheets just sitting in water
Happened to me too lmfao
Omg yes happens to me all the time 😆 now it wont drain
Burnt
Is it still there?
Thank you very much for your video...again. Thought for sure that we had a defective timer fault in our old Whirlpool washer that was not draining nor spinning near the end. Was considering to buy another unit and then saw this video. The true root cause was the lid switch I had removed to gain access to the internals of the washer for a drum alignment. The rinse / drain cycle demands that the lid be closed or the switch bypassed. Short answer - pressed harder on the top lid and it all works again. Will remove and re-install the position of the lid switch so it closes properly. Many thanks for your advice and videos.
I've replaced cupker, motor, Switch and timer still the heavy duty 2002 Whirlpool fills with water but does not wash or spin any ideas?
I'm trying to remove the agitator from a Whirpool washer. I removed the fabric softener but there is no 7/16 nut like the videos show. The bottom of the remaining "cup" has two opposing bars on the bottom. How do I remove the agitator?
I have a compact washer with buttons and the time is on a screen, but, my machine drains first time and not second time I can get it to finally drain by blowing in rinse hose. I already installed a new pump. Any ideas please..
Mine was fine but now won't drain. The hose has to be on the ground not into the drain how its been. Could it be the hose? I ran diagnostics & checked for clogs & everything is fine
I do have 12 year old Kenmore Elite top load washer recently my laundry is not 100% dry in the end of cycle(only around 50%dry) seem like everything work fine I do not see any mistake when the washer start to the end of cycle, please advise what the first step I should do, thanks.
Extremely helpful, thank you
I bench tested my pump and it works fine. The washer works fine but won’t drain. Any thoughts out there?
Thank you! Just fixed my washer with this video. Otherwise, I would've been completely clueless....
Good work Brandy!
Just got a new washing machine yesterday, today is the second time being used and now it's not draining 🥴 still clueless
I just banged on the the top of it and it started working lol
Me looking at this now since I live on my own and can’t have my parents fix it right this second lol
For anyone womdering that meter is junk. It should read OL (open lead) if the lid switch or motor is bad. Not whatever letter this video was showing. Never even seen that letter reading on any meter in my life. But then again i have a $300 ohm meter and not some cheapo. Good functioning switch should read about 0.2 ohms. Good motor probably about 0.2-0.6 ohms.
Who are these people who have such a thing and can justify the expense? You could buy one and send it back. Tho.
My landlady won't fix one of our only two washing machines to share between twelve units and this is the problem
Dayyyum
Easy fix: break the other one
I'd tell her I'm calling someone and taking it off the rent.
Lol
Let her know you have every legal right to do that. She ought to know it, too.
Be polite, but keep all correspondence.
this narration is absolutely brutal
I know I wanted to slap my mom for no damn reason
We've gone through 3 different washers in 4 months and they all hold water and leak from the bottom.. our problem can't be a machine problem. Any idea what it could be? 😭 the water doesn't even make it up to the drain pipe 31 inches up.
Plumbing issue?
Surely it would not wash at all if the switch was faulty?
I don't have a multimeter whatever the hell. My laundry machine is in the basement with cob webs and nasty shit all around and un able to get to the back of
Simple device for 20 bucks at Home Depot. Some you get in a set w a plug tester and outlet tester for 30.
When I check the continuity on the lid lock it just says one, I even ordered a new one and it says one on it too
very good thanx
I have water in bathroom sink but washer wont wash.
my ssmaung continues let water in even when off and cold does come in
water Inlet valve is bad
Can anyone help?
My washer is won't drain, and there is a burning smell when it tries. It agitates just fine.
Oh, THAT'S not good! Don't use it. Unplug before you have a fire!
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 I've kept it unplugged. Thanks for checking 😉
do you have control board for a maytag bravos xl

Turn it sideways and then it will drain.
A lifesaver of a vid. Ty
Hi, I have the exact apposite problem, my samsung top loader is draining continuously.
Started happening few days back, does not happen always but sometimes.
usually when it starts the rinse cycle, it starts to take water from tap but at the same time its draining also.
I tried checking by opening the back cover for probable cause.
what I observed is, there is a valve below the tub (its enclosed in tub though) is pulled open by the motor so to drain out the water and once the water is drained out, the valve is released in instant and it sits back on its place blocking the drain outlet.
The valve opening works every time perfectly but closing doesn't happen at times.
I tried starting the spin cycle manually and as it just starts to spin, opened the lid so as to stop the machine with a jerk, and this closes the drain valve immediately every time.
What I am trying to figure out is, Is it the motor (probably this is known as drain motor but only thing this motor does is to pull the valve and release) at fault but it doesn't seem to be because its opening the valve without problem.
next probability is, is there some kind of sensor that doesn't understand that the tub is empty and so the valve is kept open.
Because this is not happening all the time I don't want to change the motor at first go.
Will be glad if you can guide me on this. Thanks.
(P.S. not due to siphoning because its working in same position for last ten years.)
Sounds like you have a siphoning problem. Just take drain hose out of drain and be sure it is not wedged. It must have air space around hose.
It’s a kenmore elite top loader
Questions, does the hose connected to the basket takes a plastic ball in between ? Can someone help me with this?
Trump S You mean the tub it is called the tub or drum NOT basket
where is the model number located? my Whirlpool is over 15 yrs old
Inside the lid?
How much you charge for tht
Thx
My won't drained, and brings back the dirty water. I removed the hoes from it's location,to a lower level and it drains?
Yeah, well, you can't expect water to drain uphill. Lol
Top load will not spin

My washer is draining but it's draining on the floor instead of through the hose and the hose is in the right place

What was your solution to this bro?
Thank you
Can you please help me my son filled machine with water now its becoming on but not running but it's new so what can I do
PERFECT EXPLANATION
my machine sames to hammer when filling the tub, it fills very, very slow, what should I check for?
one question, mine doesn't drain but i already test the pump, I know that what is happening if that is not receiving the 120volts , my washer is doing everything else but draining the water.
Then it's the lid switch or a clog in the drain or the hose.
No refunds if they tell you wrong solution. Buy parts somewhere else. I learned the hard way.

You guys are amazing thank you so much you guy’s jus saved me so much time and money I didn’t have to buy anything I jus had to look at your video and I fixed the problem so thank you so so much 👍🏼👍🏼
Or just leave the washer on spin until the water dissipates
Can't get it to start up on spin.
5 Years old, get a new front load washer.
in western countries, the trend is to just replace the defective/damaged part, instead of actually repairing it. in comparison, videos made by those in poorer countries, is more informative bcos they actually repair things instead of just replacing them.
Thank you it was the lid switch
