    I'd hate for anyone to have to take this unit a part, but you've done a fantastic job of laying out how to do so step by step. Great tutorial!

    I used to take them apart also. Then I bought a bib kit and a Porta blaster and the rest is history. No better way to clean a mini split than with a Porta blaster. Check them out. Keep up the good work big guy

    Hi! I manage some short term rental units in SoCal and have been learning to do alot of basic maintenance for our mini splits over the years. So I really love your channel and how valuable your content is for DIYers!
    I had one question for ya. In our rentals we ideally would want our units to stay comfortable and cool at all times for when guests arrive. this would also prevent guests from fiddling with the temperature controls too much. Do you think keeping the AC mini splits on 24/7 at a setting of say 68-70 (on auto) would be better than having them to "conserve energy" and only turning them on when it gets hot? Common sense tells me "yes, turn it off when ur not using it to save energy" but after thinking about it, would keeping it on lesson the wear and tear, and perhaps energy if the machine has to work less hard to maintain 68-70, rather than cooling down a 80+ degree space everyday over and over again?

    I am glad you are making this video. One of my Ac units is making that kind of noise and I was thinking about taking it a part to see what could be causing it. I also wanted to point out that at minute 7:58 the plug is hard to remove because the red plastic piece Holds it down and it can be remove using a flat head screw driver prior pulling the plug otherwise there is a risk of ripping the connector off.

    Make sure you inspect the rubber isolator on the motor receiving end of that fan wheel. It rips apart itself,due to high torque on startup.

    Thanks for the detailed instructions. I think taking the unit apart 7 feet up becomes a greater challenge. I have an EG4 system just like you used. What you did not explain is how to clean those fan blades on a periodic basis. Is the complete disassembly required or can I get compressed air in there somehow and blow it clean?

    Thanks Taddy, nice video. It came at a good time since I plan on getting an EG4 mini split soon. I also have found out that it’s difficult to find an HVAC professional in my area who wants to service a mini split. So I need to find out as much as I can about it so I can address any issues myself.
    Here’s an idea for another topic on the EG4 mini split. Since the EG4’s are being sold with the precharged line sets, what’s the best practice to use when needing to service the indoor air handler or maybe even move it to a different location? Is the regular pump down method used which stores the refrigerant in the outside condenser? Assuming the same line set is being used, it’s now not precharged with refrigerant and would need to use a vacuum pump to remove the air, moisture, and any contaminates before the refrigerant is released back into the lines from the condenser?
    Always great watching your content, keep up the good work 😊

    • @TaddyDigest
      @TaddyDigest  3 місяці тому

      Yes, pump down would be needed and you would pump the. Refrigerant down into the condenser by closing the liquid service valve first, and then the suction service valve when the pressure gauge reads zero

    I just installed the EG4 24k hybrid and its great. Blowing super cold air during this muggy and humid Florida heat. I am getting a high pitched beeeeep/squealing noise though. Originally thought this might be the problem but it seems to only do it when actively cooling. Doesnt beep when only on fan or on heat. Also noticed the noise can be heard inside and outside.. Would you be able to point me in the right direction?
    When i have it set to 61F, it blows ice cold 55F air out.

    • @TaddyDigest
      @TaddyDigest  Місяць тому +1

      Where do you think the sound is coming from?Do you think it's coming from the indoor unit or the outdoor unit

    • @andrepaperini7098
      @andrepaperini7098 Місяць тому

      Hard to tell... I can definitely hear it in both locations. Maybe more pronounced outside??
      The noise definitely goes away when it's not in cooling mode. Can't hear it either place. I did the soapy solution leak detect method when putting it together and didn't see any leaks. But I just ordered a leak detection device today to see if it's leaking

    • @andrepaperini7098
      @andrepaperini7098 Місяць тому

      @TaddyDigest after some closer inspection, the squealing/whistling noise id coming from the large diameter copper line. Definitely more noticeable outside when I put my ear to the line. What do you think this could this be?

    Let me tell you, as a service technician servicing these ductless units is a NIGHTMARE. Sometimes you don't have access on the top to easily remove the cover.
