Old mechanics never die, they just watch Eric, and keep learning
Tech tip: run the new keys in an out on the outside lock cylinder to smooth out the rough cuts on the blade. It prevents keys getting stuck on the ignition. Love your videos.
Wow!!
What a great video!!
When you said something to the effect that the two tools seem to cover what comes in your shop! I am sold on the Autel!!!
Good to know that the Autel can program/create keys! Never tried it with mine yet! By far my favorite go-to scan tool! Glad i decided on it over the others (especially cost wise.)
Well, that was easy. All it took was the right equipment combined with a whole lot of learning and experience. When I was in school one of the jobs at the lumber yard was making keys, I got pretty good at it and I think they cost a quarter.
Very helpful video. I was trying to program keys to an 09 Civic the other day and found out the ECU is bad, so I have one on order. This video will help for the Civic I'm doing even though the process may be slightly different. I'll be using my Snap On Solus, but I also have an Autel scanner and a Silca key programmer, so one of them should do it.
I appreciate you doing the video without knowing the outcome, and allowing us to see the learning process for this procedure. Keep up the good work.
SMA overload............4 days in a row...you are too good to us Eric O
Got you covered up till Wednesday :)
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing your experience thru these videos. I just enjoy hearing you talk and viewing what you do.
Love the Autel info Eric! We just bought one, still learning functionality.
Who needs boring training videos when you can watch EricO and laugh all at the same time! Not a jab at Eric at all. Great videos and some of the things you say out of the blue crack me up. Like your last video “Chevy and their stupid keys” in frustration or “what the thunder”.
You said, "I'm glad I own my Verus." I heard you. First time for everything! lol Thanks!
Old video sir haha
11.5 Battery voltage?! You are a brave man!
I have the Autel maxisys Elite at my shop as the main go to, Worth every penny, but it does need some supplementing.
Awesome video Eric! Good to know what these do-dads are capable of.
Awesome Thank you for sharing this. This was fantastic to know that it can still do the Honda's. Thanks so much Eric
Been a fan of the channel for a while, but came across this video...Glad to see you crossing over into my area. Autel is one of the popular programmers in the locksmith world. My main programmer is Xtool Pro Pad 3, but does include a lot of the mechanic side also...but I stick to my lane (unless it's friends or family needing mechanical diagnosis).
The key to success . Thanks now I know how to program new keys 🔑 the Hondu way!
I got my 908 from your A store back on March. Hope you got credit for it! Love it!
Thanks Eric I am very interested in the md908 so seeing some of the capabilities is great
Those handheld computers are amazing tools, a whole bunch of testgear in one place.
Even a basic obd2 scanner is handy for the diy'er to get a rough engine fault :-)
Cant beat good tools.
I was watching one of your old videos when i got the notification for this one. I am an sma junkie. Lol
Same here! I have almost finished watching every SMA video. There are a lot of them!
Autel FOR THE WIN ! I have the autel and I LOVE it . I got the maxi sys pro with the j tool and got a CRAZY DEAL on it . Please show everyone what else it will do. . Thank you Eric o
dassme1 where did you buy yours???
In this video Eric O. admits he's glad to own a SnapOn Verus. I thought I was hearing things so I hit rewind, it's true. :) I will be discussing this issue with my therapist.
I know ... it is an older video... sorry Glenn :'(
Programmed many keys with my Autel, yes the Autel and the Snap on do complement each other😁
Snap On is great for the scope and guided tests - other than that, the bidirectional controls and any programming features are very limited. I'm selling my Modis Ultra and buying an Autel and Picoscope
Things they make you do just to start a car today .Eric O . have good day thanks for video's
I agree, I wonder if it might be better to introduce a system of law enforcement and some proper judicial deterrence?
Great video. Funny I was working on the same Honda but with an Autel MX808. Works the same way. Thanks for the instructions
What model year can MX808 goes up to for Honda?
great video. glad independent shops can reprogram keys!!!
Nice to see the autel does such a good job at programming keys Eric O good Video @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Thanks again. The Autel MS 908 is one of my best investments for my small shop.
STREETSTANG07
Have you ever did keys with your Autel?
Getting mine tomorrow can't wait .sweet very kool scanner😀 great video
Autel isn’t perfect but the 906 and 908 are great scan tools. Very nice video Mr. O.
GOOD MECHANIC SPEAKS VERY WELL GREAT VIDEOS THANK YOU
Doing the Fords at work, I used the IDS, and you were allowed up to 8 or 9 keys. I would keep one and program up to 3 more if the supervisor wanted to delete the old keys if there were others he didn't know about. It was also one way we had a key for our shop if the vehicle switched yards where it was parked at night. That way maintenance could be done at night with the shop key.
Well you had better luck with your key programming then I did with my Volt! the video of my fun experience is up on my channel. Great video and I like to see the "lost" SMA's!
Yeah had to blow the dust off these older productions haha
That was WAY AWESOME!!!! WAY TO GO ERIC O.!!!!! :D
Thanks Eric! Very helpful as I'm narrowing my search for a new scan tool. Would love the new Snap On Zeus at around $15k (with the diagnostics data plan). The odds of me affording that or Santa putting it under the tree are 50/50 if that tells you anything...lol
Have a great week
Excellent job, thank you so much for your video.
Good bit of kit the Maxisys ....Great video btw 👍
It may be an older video but it's new to us. Thanks for the information. I just bought the 2000 series PICO scope so I'm watching Paul's "how to use" videos. My brain hurts.
Hey buddy my friend my pal, my brother,Its almost Christmas, throw that programmer in the box and send it over. This elf will thank you for it.
AUTEL FTW baby,I always tell you!! 💪
Hell yea brother.....I got 17.2 on my Virus but never even had to look to see if she could do it lol.
Super glad I clicked on this video. Super cool guy and very good detailed video. I'm definitely subscribing. Can you please try to program a new key without any other key and make a video? I saw a video showing it done but the video wasn't anywhere nearly as good as yours. The guy just continued following the instructions without an original key with this same scanner. Thank you for showing the total number of keys programmed at the end. That's weird how it automatically deleted the other keys previously programmed. Can you also try to make a video on deleting a lost key or lost keys? Thank you!
I have done them with my MaxiDas. Go Autel!
nice video, thanks for uploading, i have a solus ultra with 18.2 and it has the immobilizer feature now, also apparently it can also do the newer keys too. but im sure autel can do those keys now too. oh well. at least snap on has it finally.
Thanks for at least partly taking a stand on scan tools. As you said, the higher end ones are a big investment and it would be good to know more about your opinions of how the big 4 compare as there not that many experienced guys who have real time with all 4 brands like you do? It's complicated with Autel suffering from legal action, the Verus being super expensive, while Launch and OTC are relative unknowns.
Haven't tried key programming yet. Did a couple of fobs for an 04 Pontiac grand prix though. I love my 908p!
Thanks Eric would like to see more videos with the Autel your Right each scanner has it's good points I wonder what one Keith uses the most ?
Really cool video man thanks
ILCO is an aftermarket replacement key blank and locksmith supply manufacturer. T5 is, presumably, the ILCO blank number for the valet style key (transponder blank 5). Crafty of them to make their blank encryption proprietary, so you HAVE to use their high priced programmer to program in their blanks.
i have that 908BT... been using it for 3 or 4 years now.. $500 to upgrade any software (after the 1st year)! Still works great without the upgrades/updates. ;)
I love my Maxisys Pro..I use it all the time
I THINK my Autel 906TS can do this too ... but don't quote me on that. Going off memory. I recall seeing the option to program keys on other vehicles I've had here. A great feature, for sure!
This thing has already surprised me with it's capability. So far, it's all I've got, besides a 10 year old AutoXray AX7000 - no bi-directional control with that one, aside from an EVAP test. Doesn't tell you what it's testing, but from learning from all you guys on UA-cam, it's probably the purge solenoid - can hear it click on/off.
Wow , thanks, I just bought an Autel Maxysis Elite!
I like that scan tool. I had to pay someone to program my Honda keys.
Great info!
ones again u help me out a jam , Thanks
just ordered my MS908 Pro w/J2534 USA version last week when i got a email of a flash sale for $1849.00 shipping included, so won't have to just scream at just the Verus all the time.
super coupe hey where did you see that deal? Thanks.
Would you share where u get rhat deal... thanks..
Great Job Like always A+
Good info, Thanks
Thank you, this helped me.
I bought a $20 Honda key from Amazon, had it cut for $10, then programmed it with a scan tool in the same way you showed. Works great. The lock/unlock/trunk release buttons didn't work, but they can be easily programmed without a scan tool.
So $25 instead of the $200+ (CDN) that the ripoff that the dealer wanted.
What scan tool?
D7 was the model number. Can't remember the make.
Great video again, keep them coming. I thought any model after 2011 you had to have locksmith programs. Again thanks for what you do.
That was really interesting!
Nice, I thought you had to remove the "lost" keys first. But I was wrong, I assume registering the new keys deleted the lost keys (hence the max 5 keys).
I know it's an old video but I hope my new launch x431 pro is as good and painless to use. Should have it next week.
The Snapon looks like a great paperweight 👍
Outstanding
great video, great infor
Most excellent.
Thanks.
i had a 1999 ford f150 sport with the triton 4.7 pretty much the same as long as you had the master key
Nice thanks for sharing 🙏
Good lesson
Video soo clear
Great Video
Oh ya. Very cool and Great Video!
Way way off topic. Just watched a few minutes of one of your Buds'. It's good to have friends like Bruce.
Eric I watch your channel for entertainment. You always say some of the oddest and funniest things. In no way am I calling you out. Quite the opposite. You and your wife are decent, honest, hard working folks. Bottom line....keep it up Sir.
I have used my ms908 elite to program keys for chevy, dodge, jeep so far. Only thing is with chrysler products you need the vehicle PIN to be able to program them and to get the PIN you have to show proof of ownership to the dealer
Way to go Mr. O
Fourth day in the row - videos!!! Wooo!!! Christmas came early!
got ya covered for a few more days too!
Cool!!! with a five (5!) week vacation, watching SMA videos and getting ready for the holidays, this couldn't get any better!!! Thanks again!!!
Exselecte diagnostic. Nice video
Ilco is an aftermarket key blade manufacturer Eric, I will say that the Autel MS908P is great for doing keys, EXCEPT for when the bloody thing decides to crash on you mid programming!!! I'll post a video soon of my pile of crap MS908P crashing continuously whilst trying to do anything immobiliser related!!! Their Customer Service is appalling (Autel)
Thanks you I'm watching I need to learn more. How much ur autel scanners sir
good show,
Love that thing.
I just checked my SO 17.4 and it does have immobilizer listed with several options under that tab reference 2008 Honda Pilot
Well hot diggidy dog, Autel you the real MVP !!
Good video Eric is there anything you can't get done at South Main Auto
I replaced a damaged ignition lock cylinder on a 2005 Accord. I had one original key and 2 blank keys with transponders. Not knowing if the virgin transponders will program as new keys, I chose to go with the "Add Keys" option instead. Since the steering column was still not fully assembled with the shrouds, I removed the immobilizer unit from the ignition switch and let it dangle by the wires. When the Autel prompts for the keys, it's just a matter of using 2 keys at the same time to complete programming. Hold original in the IMMO ring and operate the lock cylinder with the new key(s). The original key was only good for the transponder, the new lock cylinder has new keys which are cut different than the original because it was purchased at O'Reilly's Auto Parts instead of the Honda Dealership.
I LOVE MY AUTEL AAA+++ alot of bang for the buck
hi Eric, I have an Australian 1998 Prelude that is my weekend car, I believe it has the T5 key (probably the same as your civic) and the factory immobilizer/alarm. You can buy T5 keys with chips on eBay but I believe that requires you to "clone" an existing key rather than adding a new key to the system, is that correct? Honda Australia wants nearly $100 for a key and the dealers near me can't even tell me if they can program keys for "such an old car". I have one original black key and the Red key, what's the best/cheapest way to get another key?
Hey Eric, very informative as usual. Are you aware of any DIY J2534 programmers for Honda that will do the same as your Autel but at a fraction of the cost since I only need it for Hondas? You mentioned DrewTech, are you referring to the MongoosePro for Honda? I know those work with Honda's HDS but would it (MongoosePro) allow you to make make more keys w/o having the LSID from NASTF? Thanks for your info.
Have you had to program any of the new rams keys such as 2013 and up
Fantastic!!!!
Amazing.
Have u used the other plugs that come in the case. ? Thanks..
One day I will take out a second mortgage and get a Verus and a MS908!
I can dig that!
Hahahaha that was good!
You can get a used verus on eBay for a grand
Mortage LOL ....
Skip the mortgage. Get an Autel.
Amazing
great stuff eric. does the launch have the ability to program keys?
hey eric check out the obdstar x300 comes with ecu programing and adaptors speedometer calibration key programing all the goodies and for bugger all
Do you need to pay extra charge (token) for reprogramming/copy car keys ?
