    I carry the PPS M2 as my EDC. After shooting plenty of the G43, and S+W Shield, with Talon Grips and a 7rd mag for extension, I consistently shoot better groups for longer with the PPS M2. I think it’s the best compact single stack out there.

      I got the LE with 3 magazines, 6 shot, 7 shot and 8 shot with extended base plate and green night sights. I don't usually modify my grips at 6'1.5" and 185 lbs, even with my girly hands. I loved it, got that PPQ like crisp trigger with a smooth reset. Feels as good, if not better than my beloved Shield 2.0. Had to sell it but will get another. My only complaint is that the left rear sight came off at the range, so it became a 2-dot sight. Walther was great with their warranty, but it's gone now, one of my favorites.

      I have the PPS M2 LE that did indeed come with 6, 7, and 8 round mags... and then bought 2 more 8 rounders. I just like my entire hand on a grip as it feels more stable. It does add a little more length but my little finger hanging off just doesn't have the same stability control.

    Been watching hickok45 for quite some time. He is one in a handful of You Tubers that gives a honest review about a weapon without trying to destroy the reputation of a particular manufacturer. As a matter of fact, the last 3 weapons I have purchased have been due to Hickok45's videos. I want to say Thanks for all for you do for the shooting community and hopefully educate the ill-informed. Like you say in closing" Life is Good "

    Hello, I'm a viewer from Portugal and I have been watching your videos for a while. Although guns have less to no culture in my country I have learned to enjoy guns through your videos, although i never shot one. I will be joining the navy this year and I would extremely apreciate if you made a video on the HK G3, since its the standart issue rifle here. Thanks alot for sharing your knowledge and love for guns, life is good.

      In the U.S there's a $200 USD tax stamp on rifles like the G3 because it is fully automatic, so it's highly unlikely he'll do a video on one. However he has a video on a PTR 91 which I believe is a semi-auto version of the G3

      @@cadbane1093 I feel like the Hellcat solidified that even more. The PPS was great when it was released and was my favorite cc single stack 9mm, but it has since been outclassed in my opinion. The Hellcat and P365 are both smaller and thinner while having a much better capacity. The ergonomics, accuracy, and trigger on the PPS M2 made the slightly larger size a decent trade off back in the day, but the Hellcat and the P365 do all of that in a better package now.

    Greetings Hickok. Love your reviews and apparently my local gun shop does too. I was doing yet another round of "what conceal carry 9mm feels best for me," and the shop had your reviews playing continuously on a big screen. I tried the Shield, XPS, Glock 43, Kimber, Sigs and a couple of Walthers (for the umpteenth time) and reconfirmed that in my short fingered, yet wide hand, the newer Walther grips just feel more right than any of the others. I had tried out the Walther CCP at another shop and thought the feel/ergonomics were amazing, but I thought it was just a bit thick to be my EDC. I had also tried out the original PPS and found the grip to be very different from the newer models- too flat and paddle-like. Today, I laid my hands on the PPS M2 and it was love at first grip. So much so that I bought it on the spot. I got the Limited Edition model that has phosphoric sights and three clips - 6, 7 and 8 round capacity. I thought your viewers should be reminded of the 8 round clip.
    Thanks for all you do...it was a "very good day."

    The PPS is striker fired design perfected ....that indicator connected to the trigger is also a safety. If you keep your thumb over it the trigger is disabled. You can pull as hard as you want it won't go back. So for holstering that is so much better than a Glock.

  • @Tanjman_
    @Tanjman_ 9 років тому +27

    Hey there hickok, I just wanted to share my appreciation with you and your team working on your channel. I live in Canada and we have a lot more firearm laws and restrictions than the States, but I still manage to get out to the club and shoot and have fun with friends and family for sport. I wanted to say that in a world where people hate 'guns' and don't think that we should have many in the western world, I love that you keep posting these and educating people about certain types and the details of firearms and ammunition. And I think that we need more of that, you are such a good example when you display the safe aspects of shooting. i.e. having a range, hearing protection, eye protection, etc.
    Educating people on how to be safe, and responsible with these tools that can be used to take away a life. Keep doing what you do, setting a good example for younger people out there interested in firearms. Hopefully educating the public, will reduce the amount of civilian killing, and accidents that happen.
    Thanks again!!

    I own a PPS M2 and love it. Personally I prefer a little heavier gun. Additionally I think the ergonomics of this gun is superior to both the Glock 43 and the Shield although both guns of these are fine firearms. I also really like the trigger on the PPS and the exposed striker which in my mind makes holstering the gun a tad safer.

    • @leecox1513
      @leecox1513 5 років тому +1

      Yes, but a heavier gun presents a trade-off. IWB guns are for concealed only. A "heavier gun" might be a bit uncomfortable for concealed carry, unless it was carried OWB. I too prefer a larger, heavier pistol, but it is impractible for concealed carry.....for me, that is. Again, the trade-off.

Glock has a big after market supply, where walther has a limited aftermarket, so glock has more opitions and lower costs in the aftermarket world. i have my ppq and now a pps love them both.

    That “little button there” is also quite useful for controlling the striker during re-holstering. Somewhat unique and quite valued by some, not so much by others. But a feature that should be pointed out as it is functionally different than many / most others.

    I appreciated the side by side comparison of other options in the category. I think a lot depends on how it feels in the hand. I can easily palm a basketball and the PPS m2 felt the best. Mine sits inside the belt at 6 o'clock at all times except for sleeping and showering. Plus I keep a spare mag in a leather case at 2 o'clock when I can conceal by my sweater or jacket, which is half the year. Hickok45 did a great job on this review.

    It all came down to not being 100% satisfied with my accuracy ability with the Glock 26 I carried for 5 years, what put a nail in the G26 coffin was when I picked up my wifes Ruger LC9 for the first time and put down tighter groups off the bat, so I now carry a PPS M2 and don't look back at the slight capacity difference. Of course I shoot the M2 better than the G26 and LC9 also, I just was not good with the Glock.

    Thumb over the the pin when holstering tells you when your trigger is being pushed and to stop. It was designed to be flush until fired. Glock doesn't have that. Own both. Both are good but it's the small things that I love about the PPS m2.

    • @andyostertag
      @andyostertag 6 років тому +2

      Right on.. while holstering.. also sits flush when the trigger is ready to go [one in chamber or not]. Recessed when trigger is expired. While contemplating the 9 single stack I rented and shot 50-100 rounds through all 3 of the top contenders [G43, Shield, and PPS M2] This gun one out as best feel and recoil tamer [to me]. Went straight home and ordered one LE version from Buds almost 2 years ago.. Today #2 is on the way. Just because I like two of my favorites. Same with my Glock 30, can't beat that package in 45 either IMHO

    Good mention on the trigger forward issue for reassembly. I think the trigger bar impacts the firing pin block a bit harder than most pistols do. Actually had to demonstrate this to someone recently in a gun store after they couldn't get it back together. ;-) BTW - Talon has the grip for it now... should you keep it.

      Not a necessary step if you just move the slide enough to take pressure off the disassembly tabs. Has been discussed on the Walther forum. Some of us thought we had a defective gun, until we realized it was operator error. No mention of this in the manual.

      One workaround is to get the P99 aftermarket mags for a PPQ m1. Also the Canik mags fit as well. There are a couple of aftermarket extended capacity mags that fit as well.

    Excellent firearm! Mine is deadly accurate, right out of the box. To correct Mr. Hickok, mine does not need to have the trigger forward to be re-assembled. One point, I bought mine before they were drop safe, so it is subject to recall. I dropped it once, and the hydroshock HP went between my legs. Coulda been bad!
    The 6 rnd mag is okay for deep conceal, but doesn't fit well in my hand. The 8 rnd mag seems to have just a little slop in my grip. The 7 is just right! I'm 5'10", not 6'10" like our host here. With the 7 rnd mag, the fit to my hand is absolutely perfect. My all time favorite carry!

    I wish I were a better natural shooter when it comes to Glocks. I have a G36 and a G41, and I used to have a G19, and if I just pick one up and go bang, it's hit and miss. I have to have regular range time to get and maintain the right feel for shooting them. With some other makes, Beretta and Walther among them, I pick one up and go bang, and I'm a tack driver from the word go; it doesn't seem to matter if I have shot them recently or not, I'm just a natural shooter with them. I don't know if it's the supposed grip angle differences or what, but as much as Hickok45 loves Glocks (for all the good reasons he points out), I remain hesitant about them. For me.

    You are not overly obsessing about weight. When carrying anything....Ounces=Pounds, Pounds=Pain. People who don't carry, just can't understand. The LCPs, P238s, Bodyguards sell like wildfire for a reason. Everyone that has carried a firearm for any length of time has 20 different holsters lying around, and 15 belts...all in the name of trying to find that perfect combination of fit and comfort. Carrying a hunk of metal attached to you somewhere, isn't all that much "fun". Anybody looking to start carrying for the first time....every ounce counts.

    I have to admit to being a little perplexed about your review of this pistol...and your comments regarding the classic PPS. For the most part your review seemed pretty negative, at least to me it did. You love glocks, but you criticized the classic model PPS as being too blocky? And when you said that there was only a slight difference in width between the PPS and the Glock 26, I actually laughed out loud. I think that there is a huge difference in width between those two pistols. Just my opinion. Oh well, I really enjoy most of your videos.

      +LarryC213 Totally agree Larry. I was really surprised how lukewarm Hickok's reaction was to the PPS M2, considering he praised the first model and this is clearly an upgrade. Maybe it's because he was hounded to review the gun by so many fans with really high expectations, but he really focused on the negatives much more than his usual gun reviews. The PPS M2 is relatively new, but already highly regarded; you just wouldn't know it from this video. Still love this channel though.

    I carried a full size beretta apx for about a year. That thing was hell, for the most part, to carry. I picked up a pps m2 a little while back and now I almost forget I'm carrying. Weight, even the smallest amount, can be huge. What I do absolutely love about the pps m2 is how slim it is. Also, the ergonomics are heavenly in my hand (which kind of resemble the apx). Love this gun to death. Shoots exceptionally well for a subcompact.
    P.s. I don't hate glocks because I think it's cool or edgy to. I just don't like the way they feel in my hand and I don't like shooting them.

    The 26 is bulky compared to the pps. Hold both at the gun store, it isn't even close. I loved the feel of the Glock 43 also. I have seen reviews where the pps m2 and the 43 were the only single stack 9s to shoot 1,000 rounds with no malfunction. You can see it is a great shooter. The 3oz difference really seems to push hickok45 over the edge on this pistol. It feels very solid. The pps was less money, and now has a lifetime warranty. I got the only one available in my town. The pistol is my most comfortable of my 7 handguns. Also, I love hickok45 videos!
