Fragrances and films , two things I can't get enough of. Fantastic idea for a video and appreciate all the effort that went into researching this one 🙏
Love the way you described your surprise that Eddie Redmayne would wear such a ‘bewitching fragrance as Black Orchid’ - what a perfect word to describe Black Orchid, I wear it when I want to be a bit bewitching ... it is the best word I have heard that tells the story perfectly 🖤
I just loved this video. It is absolutely right up my alley. I think the period from 1940s to end of the 1960s have some of the most elegant actors and actresses the world has ever seen. I don'r get the same type of feeling from modern day actors, say from 1980s to now. Your choices are amazing. I would love you to do a similar video for a selection of actors and actressesworking in the period from 1940s to 1960s, such as Montgomery Clift, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, Carey Grant, etc, etc. Wonderful video and I could listen to you for hours discoursing on fragrances. A big thank you Clemence.
I totally agree with, I think the 40s to 60s were full of charms ! That's a good idea ! Audrey Hepburn is on my feminine version of this video. And I should ive think of James Dean ! Oww But yes a focus on this period is a good idea ! Thanks a lot 🙏✨😊
@@clemenceccfragrance If I recall correctly, I have read somewhere that James Dean was a fan of Knize Ten. I'm looking forward to a future video on this topic! You always look effortlessly glamorous and I imagine or would like to think that you would have fitted seemlessly into the 1950s and 1960s.
Wow amazingly described, its a coincidence that one of my favorite movie is Sleepy hollow, I have also heard Robert Redford like to wear Green Irish Tweed, Hugh Jackman likes to wear TF Grey Vetiver and Daniel Craig like to wear TF Tobacco Vanille, which is also my signature fragrance.
Excellent video. I enjoyed the mix of modern and vintage stars, and it's exciting to know that something I enjoy, Guerlain Vetiver, is enjoyed by the likes of Paul McCartney and Harrison Ford.
Great video!!!! Really cool to see what the famous are wearing. I also read up on this and Guerlain pops up a lot. Another popular one with men is Habit Rouge. I own both Guerlain Vetiver and Habit Rouge. I treasure them. They are a little more old school (I'm a 25 boy) but still classy and timeless. Can I just say that you are really beautiful both inside and outside! ♥️ From Ireland 🇮🇪
I too found you through fragmental and love your ideas from a French perspective. I love this video and was very excited to see what Elvis wore until I realized that he died 20 years before Creeds Royal Water was launched. If we can find out what he actually wore I'd be very interested. Did Olivier Creed relaunch Royal Water according to a previous formula that Elvis wore? Thanks
I've been reading that a previous version was available in fact ! I found it strange like you as well, but apparently it's a fact ! Thanks and welcome here !
Really fantastic video, great idea and well presented 👏😁 P.S you just inspired me to pull out my old bottle of Boucheron pour homme edp 👍 haven't worn it in a long long time.
Bonjour Clemence. Your channel is such a welcome addition to the fragrance community. I hope you continue to bring us interesting and informative content. Your voice and accent are so engaging and an absolute delight, I could listen to you all day... in fact you could read out the phone book and it would sound sultry and delicious. SOTD: Givenchy Gentleman.
Great list and video Clemence! If you like Harrison Ford in movies, you should definitely see Polanski's "Frantic". (soundtrack by Ennio Morricone, no less) The film has Emmanuelle Seigner along with Ford, set in Paris, 1980's. Speaking of Seigner, another film she did with Johnny Depp is also very stylish, "The Ninth Gate". (New York, Paris and somewhere in Spain?) Oddly enough, this was also a Polanski film. (but not well received in America) :) On a different topic, if you would like to see a young Alec Baldwin in a Tuxedo set in 1930's Art Deco New York, check out "The Shadow". Seeing Penelope Ann Miller in a lavish fur with a silk evening gown makes it a must see. Fashion, fragrance and film seem to go together very well in all these films.
Love the video. Heck, all your videos are wonderful. Jude Law’s choice was a surprise. PS Extreme was the first fragrance I bought! Not sure what I’d think of it these days. Thanks!
No. 89 is definitely the perfect scent for Ian Flemming. Redford and I have the same birthday too. Kinda wished he wore something from Penhaligons though. Seems more his style.
Great subject👍. I would love to see one featuring older personalities, maybe pre 50's. I would probably learn about some unknown vintage fragrances as well as a bonus. Although I haven't seen all your videos so maybe you've done it already. 🙂
Really great. I think everybody would LOVE if you did an all 1920’s actors that are your favorites video. That would be fascinating and a real classroom moment. David Bowie- just being a music hound, obsessively buying any magazine with Bowie in it, colignes were mentioned as a mood setter in many articles. So time and time again in the 89’s PALOMA PICASSO - MINOTUAR was his SOTD tge day of the interview. Then post ‘95 to 2005 FLORIS ELITE came up again and again. KIETH RICHARDS- Mick’s pal, kept it French, one of the original celebs who loved GUERLAIN HABIT ROUGE. I knew a make up girl in the early 2000’s, he was doing an interview somewhere for TV and he was still wearing HR, at least in that day he was. Frank Sinatra- Yardleys LAVENDAR, Lavande, and just for a couple years before he passed, he had to go outside his house when he smoked, and kept a bottle of CRRED PORTUGAL out there, to cover up the smoke. He probably had little scent sense left and just wanted anything LAVENDAR at that point. PRINCE also kind of just cared if the juice had Lavendar in it and would wear the oil plain, sprayed on his clothes. BRYAN FERRY- He has been working on his own scent for years. He’s rumored to wear one by Amouge I forget, and also the 2009 entry into the modern market from the legendary Italian clothiers, BRIONI. I loved this one, and the line since then has been really just whatever they thought they could make miney in, the 2009 BRIONI - was one they cared about what was linked to them, and it was a classic 1950’s Fougere-ish with vetiver, that any niche house would love to have done. Better than anything T Ford did in that direction. The only thing I’ve ever read directly from him and he talked about why he liked it was DR HARRIS EDT, he loves just going to the shoppe and the tactile experience and mood setting that can have instead of simething showing up at your door. BEST TASTE IN YOUR VIDEO has to go to Charlie Chaplin, Ian Fleming, and Harrison Ford. The Oscars were on tonight and got me in the mood to hand out a few “Best” awards, with fragrance as with wine, spirits, and shoes, it’s all about taste and how you go timeless classic, work with your personality in matching, contrast your personality , always great when somebody shy wears something very anti wallflower or someone brash goes tasteful and demure. Mitsouko makes sense for Chaplin really does.
Floris No. 89 is what I call the quintessential mid-century English Gentleman scent. It IS what James Bond, a mid-century creation of a worldly English agent would have worn. I read somewhere that the favorite fragrance of some star - I forget who - is Foris Elite, my favorite Floris.
Your video was suggested to me just tonight, a month after you made it. I knew what fragrances the male celebs wore; perhaps we've read similar articles. Cool Water on Clint Eastwood surprised me and does not seem like a good fit. Was expecting something like Bois du Portugal. I'd love to see the female counterpart. Have you done it yet? If not, let me start you off- Marlene Dietrich: Knize 10. Every other female celebrity: Molecule 01. I'm exaggerating about Molecule 01, but if you do your research you'll see I'm not exaggerating by all that much. Bon chance.
I was surprised at Clint Eastwood, too. I can’t stand Cool Water, and it always struck me as a cheap knockoff of Green Irish Tweed. I’ve long been a fan of Caron’s Yatagan, which is more Clint’s western macho style. Pine needles and patchouli on a base of castoreum and leather.
Robert Redford..😍😍😍 I am in love at him too....he is such a great actor..and good looking of course .😀🙂😀 .and you were right about Clint Eastwood ...cool water is not perfect for him but...anyway love it all..💕💟💜 thanks again..😘😘

Seeing that you're a very stylish woman what are your thoughts on Bal de Afrique, Hermessence Vetiver Tonka or Guerlains Vetiver?
That's a lot to say , I've featured guerlain vetiver in a lot of my videos like 10 fragrances for life as it's one of my fav , for the Hermessence I will need to test it more !
Good idea for a video . Thanks .
My pleasure thank you!

So Elvis Presley wore a fragrance that came out in 1997...?
I thought Brad Pitt wore Villoresi Musk. Gorgeous fragrance.

I expect Jagger to be wearing 15 sprays of Secretions Magnifiques.

Brad Pits best movie is 'snatched'
Wow. Your favourite Beatles song is not written by the Beatles. :)) Nice video.
Yep, i guess it's their interpretation that I like the most compared to the shirelles and Smith ones !
Thanks a lot ✨

John Gotti wore Trussardi.
No Bonjour Bonjour disappointed ☹️
Hahah oopsi ! For the next one 😅🤭👻
Johnny Depp fits Dior Homme 1000x more than Robert Pattinson. Johnny Depp has character and charisma, whereas Robert looks like an average Joe from across the street. No class at all.
Charlie Chapplin was wearing*, il est mort x)
Thanks, i know haha. Obviously.
After speaking few hours my English is going.
