We just got back from the Philippines last week. Our flight was on a Thursday, at 10pm. We got to the airport exactly 3 hours before our flight and still only barely made it to the gate before boarding. The initial pre-screening took almost an hour, that’s when they scan all your checked baggage. We checked in and that only took minutes. Then, the immigration line took almost an hour. The line to immigration for foreign passport holder was past the glass doors through the check in area of Terminal 1. After that, another shorter line to the x-rays, and then there’s ANOTHER x-ray line right at the gate! All these screenings are ridiculous and take up so much time! And you cannot bring any water more than 100mls through the gate x-ray! For someone traveling with children or seniors, this last x-ray is such an unnecessary process. And I still don’t understand why we cannot bring the water we purchased right outside the gates prior to boarding if we had already gone through two screenings. The Philippine government really needs to clean up this process. This will affect tourists’ decisions to re-visit the country.

Thank you for your suggestion to complain about inefficiencies, huwag basta manahimik at tanggapin ang mga kapalpakan para mag improve ang service.

Jennifer, thank you for your important update. I am leaving for the US on March 15 and I pray to God this immigration thing is resolved by then. Thank you again for caring. Kudos to you!

Had to grin with your comment at the end.. love the feisty attitude. As the saying here goes 'the squeaky wheel gets the grease'.. so complaining can be effective at times

I just got back from Manila to Sydney about 3 weeks ago, had no issue with immigration, was in line for about 30 minutes.. Qantas check-in was open about 5 hours before flight departure, everything went smoothly..

Another issue at NAIA is the wait time to transit between international and domestic terminals

The lines kept on queueing because of irrelevant questions IO asks passengers. I have my share of this experience almost 4 years ago when I am traveling to Thailand. I was intercepted for so long (got into a second interview). And was only allowed to get in after checking all my credit card limits and was tagged "financially capable". It was a pain in the ass!

Thanks for your updates. I'm travelling to Manila in a few days and this is good to know. I'm always looking forward to your latest vlogs when it comes to what's going on in NAIA especially. You're awesome and keep up the good work!

Unfortunately I had to experience that horrible immigration line a few weeks ago. Was sooooooo bad. Had some Korean old people come ask me to cut in line, they were scared to miss their flight, but my flight was departing sooner than their's so I sadly had to tell them no. So bad. Won't be going back to Philippines ever again unless I hear this has improved.

Just returned to the US after three weeks in the Philippines and had no issues with immigration or check in. I'm pretty seasoned when it comes to traveling and therefore knew what to expect. The bigger issue for me is navigating between terminals at NAIA, or trying to figure out what terminal to go to for departure. International flights often leave from terminal one, but some departing passengers may not be aware of this and will head to the wrong terminal. In addition, Philippine Airlines require departing international passengers be subjected to a mandatory bag search upon check in, which can delay the whole check in process. That in mind, I would recommend arriving at the airport at least four hours before departure to avoid missing your flight.

Based on my experience last March 3, around 25 minutes at the immigration area. Check in counters opened three hours before flt departure so its not possible to stand in queue at the immigration area five hours before. The big issue was one hour delay in take off due to traffic congestion according to the pilot announcement.

I have to laugh: basically, I don't like complainers but I also recognize if no one complains, nothing will improve.
