My family was associated with one of Nicky's associates named Leroy that owned my Uncle and Cousin's garage on Audbon next to the Bridge Apartments @ the George Washington Bridge, where I spent most of my summers 1975-1983. I made a lot of bad decisions in my younger years and Nicky & Bumpy were in a business that unfortunately i was involved in as a user, so thier names were well known on dastreets. Every code has its limits. If you expect someone to keep their mouth shut in prison then you had best make sure that they're taken care of and their outside expectations respected as much as possible. Barnes showed them what happens when they don't keep faith and a few simple words get spoken in the right ears.

Correction. It wasn't Nicky Barnes's girlfriend who was the reason why Nicky ratted them out. It was when he'd found out that Guy was sleeping with his wife that upset him. There's a documentary out where Nicky talks about it. The murder of his girlfriend, if i recall. Was a revenge for ratting out the Jewish mafia, whom were also connected to him.
Guy was screwing the girlfriend, Beverly Ash (Shamecca)… Nicky’s wife, Thelma, was screwing a dude named Tito. Shamecca’s murder was tied to Mark Reiter, a dealer under Sal Ruggerio. Ruggerio was a known associate of the Bergin Crew, whose Capo was John Gotti.
