Its always great to see John Wadham on You tube! RIP. Its so easy to forget how great a drummer he was. I was a student of his for many years, thanx for posting.
"Louis Stewart's name should be a household jazz name". Yes, world-wide. Hopefully, UA-cam videos will help to remedy the situation. Great clip, D'A. Thanks for sharing it.
The bass deserves so much more recognition! I'm a fellow upright bassist and I KNOW the pain of playing that fast and for a long period of time nonstop. He's got great bass lines! What a good sport. Nonetheless, Louis Stewart is killing it :)
Its always great to see John Wadham on drums on You Tube! Its easy to forget how brilliant he was. I got lessons for years off him. A great man who died too young. RIP Wad! Thanx for posting deangelico!
I have no words to express what I feel while I'm watching this video. Well, i have some: Admiration, pleasure, I'd-love-to-be-half-the-player-they-are...
damn dude.....................i hope to get to that level someday if not almost there. first time watching this. this is awsome!!!.... i have much tooooo learn.......
The year is 1986 per the end credits (in Roman Numerals). Great playing all around, but I concur that Stewart's soloing is particularly on. Among other highlights, he quotes "The Blues Walk" at 3:45.
The main thing for guitar players to learn from this is when another guitarist is soloing ,stop playing ,and stay the Hell out of their way like Mundell did..
He stop playing because they had a Pianist in the band, if they did'nt have a Pianist then the other Guitarist should comping the song while the others soloing :D
NOT ALWAYS. Jimmy Raney and his son, Doug, have performed exquisite, Bach-like duets on Guitar. Much greater richness! This guy Stewart sounds like Jimmy Raney!

talk about masterclass - jazz language few can hear let alone appreciate - totally nuts rhythmic, outside soulful crazy Louis too advanced like Tal Farlow but more interesting rhthmically

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Thanks for exposing me to Louis Stewart!
Following Mundell Lowe is no easy task...now I understand that Louis Stewart is in a league of his own.

Happy 91st birthday yesterday to Mundell!
OMG, OMG!!!! Incredible. Perfection. Sophistication. Style.
But above all knowledge, passion and dedication for jazz.
Its obvious. You can hear it.
the coolest cats in town, period... incredible performance - Louis' solo transcends time and space... divine!
Thank you for posting this clip.
Cork Jazz throws up some beauties now and then - like this one...
This is how it's done. Louis rips this blues a new one. You are The Man for posting these clips.
What a collection of great musicians. Louis of course pure genius.

You can see the complete admiration for Louis by Mundell totally transfixed.
I hate to use the word..but "awesome"!
Louis Stewart's name should be a household jazz name. Damn, does this ever swing.

Did Billie ever Bounce as good as this ??? wow
Glad that you enjoyed it.
Great solo by Louis!

The stacked fourths he plays @ 4:03 are some of the coolest lines I've ever heard.
Well spotted sir. I missed that. Your ears are working well:)
Pure gold
Wonderful.

HaHa..had to laugh at how true this is. They don't listen and not just guitar players!

You will only learn that through experience.....

Yes you are correct, currently slapping myself upside my head.
@Gminor7 Good call. Mundell's no slouch either!
cool
Louis Stewart sadly passed away. Big loss.
Seems like you did a pretty good job.
The only thing I can say about this video is that Louis is incredible and that the rhythm section really is diggin' his playing!!!!
Its an L7C with an added floating Johnny Smith style neck pick up. its not a Super 400. I own two of them.
Is Louis Stewart playing a L5 GIbson?
When isn't Louis on fire? lol.
Great playing. I do find that the piano player seems like he is dragging behind the beat when he is soloing. Like the first guitarist's solo.
Tonight we got Bill Clinton on guitar

Bitch'n solo Stewart.
no way did the bassist bust a string haha that sucks but this is great
What year was this? Anybody...
1986. It's in the closing credits.
@@DANYL5Archtop1 thanks!
