outstanding. Hiromi as always ruling the piano and Michel having so much fun. A jazz standard I’ve listened a million times, yet by far the most entertaining performance ever!!!
This is one of the best versions of Charly Parkes Blues "Billie`s Bounce". Hiromi Uehara and Michel Camilo inspire each other and interact perfectly with each other. This is real art and something like that only exists in jazz. Unfortunately, the video was temporarily unavailable. Presumably for copyright (i.e. commercial) reasons. But Charly Parker made music history. Jazz musicians will surely improvise about his compositions in 300 years and therefore his compositions should also be available on UA-cam during the current corona pandemic.
I mean, yeah. But I think people own recordings. You can make your own cover, but this one belongs to the people who made it. That's my understanding anyway
Charly, Charlie. Parkes Parker. Whatever. He spelt it right in the 4th line, every other word too, with only a couple errors of syntax. Herr Bitter, ja, er hat in seiner Schülezeit seinen Englischunterricht gut gemacht, glaube ich.
Thanks for posting this! I just discovered Hiromi and was comparing her to my all-time favorite Michel Camilo then I ran into your video. It was great to see them together!
8:42 I love it when people stick that Gershwin in but I wish they would "bend that melody" which would drive the audience nuts since they already know what's coming after 4 notes.
Saw Michel at the Blue Note in NYC years ago. Sat right behind his piano, got a photo with him after the concert, wonderful and talented man whose skills I can only dream about approaching in my life time.
I really enjoy "watching" Hiromi Uehara because she is always so happy when she plays, it's contagious. Of course, her extreme talent and unique style are nothing less than amazing, but that big giant smile is what wins me over every time. 💝🎹

I clicked this video hoping to hear some really good music. Ended up listening to two people having a wide range piano conversation. They just kept talking back and forth, back and forth, switching from one topic to another so much so that I forgot what they first started talking about.
Quite a contrast to the Barron/Mehdlau take, and their messages and conversation were of subtler nature that's beyond my hearing ability , but I rather believe they just somehow missed the opportunity to respond and converse musically ........but these two certainly didn't. Maybe Hiromi and Michel heard the BarronMehldau duet and said "let's NOT do that". I think the slower tempo was also a better choice for the duet setting.
Find yourself someone who looks at you the way Michel Camilo looks at Hiromi. On closer observation - maybe don't. Holy fuck that's one intense, soul reading, knowing exatcly what your going to do in the next second kind of stare. Freaks me out just a little bit.
