All the bad vibes I felt after game 82 were on full display tonight. Terrible special teams, subpar goaltending, undisciplined penalties, bad coaching, unforced turnovers, bad pinches etc. And the annual issue that happens EVERY playoffs, cant score. Stars turn into ghosts, as is tradition.
umm d? anyway, need a d? trade a 3/3/5/6 for two guys that could barely crack the lineups of wash (at the time were 12th out of 16 teams) and anaheim. LOL!

Yup. The Leafs aren’t built for the playoffs. Average defence, average goaltending, with four finesse forwards, is not the template for playoff success. The leafs lack the depth, defence and goaltending required to win the Cup. Period!
You guys are the best. I don’t watch a single regular season hockey game, but I am ALL IN on the annual playoff demise of the Leafs and this is the best entertainment on the airwaves. Seriously, love your show and have been looking forward to it since the end of the Florida series.

I'm interested to see what this does to Samsonov's confidence. The laugh's win game 2 and the whole mood changes. It's just game 1. That said...the Leaf's did NOT play well tonight. Don't forget, Leaf Fan...the Bruins rang THREE off the post, in the first. It's not like the Laughs were the "un-lucky" team here. They got SOUNDLY beat.

They keep talking about the post from Matthews, as a turning point, but a full intelligent analysis would have included that the Bruins hit 3 posts in the first period alone, so that if course does not affect the outcome of the game. LOL, Matthews post becomes irrelevant if Boston scores a goal or two on those posts. comment about what really happened, they were outplayed, shots number are a stupid way to look at it. Boston is outshot in most games, its the way they are structured.
The game wasn't close. These guys are talking optimistic diarrhea. Mathews had an almost impossible angle that he missed on that play and it wasn't a sure goal.

You guys are spot-on. I would say Leafs are playing burdened and without a solid game plan. Our neighborhood road hockey team had better strategy! Was at the Bruins game in March (4-1 loss), surprised how disorganized Leafs looked. I would let Boston come to them, play 5 man-D and counterstrike at least for the 1st half. "Play for zeros" in order to not surrender 1 or 2 early
BOTTOM LINE: It’s very difficult to build a well balanced championship lineup with the core four completely dominating the payroll. ✔️
Reeves and Domi were definitely not assets. Was Nylander a healthy scratch as a result of the Tampa game?

The play that killed me was when Marner was going in for the puck on the boards and Instead of being first to the puck he slowed down and looked behind at the players behind him and let them get the puck ....11 million dollars and he won't even be first on the puck because he's scared. That's house league stuff. You don't even see that in single, double, or triple a hockey. My god

I'm a Bruins fan, but I respect Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, Max Domi, they should be playing better. I didn't know that Leafs fans had a giant outdoor screen to watch the game. That's actually really cool. Can Leafs fans tell me if they have the screen all season long or just for the playoffs?

Not a bad take, if the penalty he takes is for punching someone in a scrum it’s worth much more than a sloppy high stick infraction.
Matthews highstick wasn't intentional. He's trying to get into open position and he goofed. Every playoff he's got 2 players on him like a fat kid on a smarty. I don't blame him for last nights game.. Marner, Domi, Bertuzzi, Sammy, JT, Edmondson all sucked bad. The more money this team gets paid, the more they suck. In the end this new generation of young adults treat this as a business and not a passion.
The fix to this is to add pay bonus for success in the post season. Dangle that motivational carrot. Marner and especially Nylander will play better.

I live in New Hampshire so by default is has been embedded in my DNA to be a Boston/New England fan. With that being said I HATE Boston Media. So I like to hear different media/fans from different areas. I really like alot of the Leafs individually. But there is no contest between the goalies, Boston has dominance in this position. The B's won 5-1 and we are SWITCHING goalies. I think Ullmark's contract ends this year so unless Linus takes a smaller deal and the Bruins continue with this remarkable duo Ullmark will leave. Hopefully they realize that we always can have a chance to win or get 1 more bag. I doubt he stays but,meh. As for this series.Sweep. Sorry Toraonto, ever since the final 15 minutes of Game 7 in 2013, this generation of Leafs are..not scared but intimidated? Domi needs to SMARTEN up because he is F-ing up his team and he isn't a real Leaf anyway. Good Luck Toronto.
When comparing high-danger chances, you have to remember that the 4 posts Boston hit do not count because they aren’t registered as shots on goal. Leafs were badly outplayed by a bonafide playoff team (and I hate the bruins!!).

Change the goalie and D. Block shots the goal by Carlo should never go in. Forwards need to cover the points and clog up the neutral zone. At least Dewar, Reavo, Domi showed some emotions.

Limiting the prime scoring chances, keeping oddman rushes down, good fundamental overall team D, bury your opportunities, stay out of the box, especially stupid penalties, one penalty can cost you the game.

Sammy didn’t steal any but i didn’t think he had much chance on the ones he did let in! The defensive play in front of him was pretty terrible! Boston looked to be so open when shooting!

Poor goaltending, porous defense, and no-shows by the big guys...Has anyone heard this story before? For those who say "if they did this, or did that the leafs would have won"...The fact is, they would have found another way to lose. Leafs have no soul. I said this last year, the team should be blown up, and while it is early in the series...At this point, I think I will be saying it again.
I say this as a Bruins fan. If you don’t forecheck them to death, you’ll lose. It’s not about stupid “physicality”. The Bruins 3rd and 4th lines got confident because Toronto is Toronto. Not a fan of the Bruins tanking games 81/82, but this is the reason. The Bruins are not challenged to get the puck out of their zone.
You say the game was closer than the score indicated, but nope that’s not true. Did you feel, at any point in the game, that the Bruins were losing this game? The Leafs hung around because of all of the posts hit by the Bruins. Domi, Bertuzzi, and Reaves aren’t Cousins, Bennett, and Tkachuk.

McAvoy just turned the corner and broke out so easily and the commentator said he made an amazing play. Dude, he saw Marner coming at him and knew he wasn't going to be touched.

Leafs weren't that far off just couldn't capitalize in key moments. Samsonov does not have it. I do think Woll and Hildeby is the duo going forward. That 2nd D pairing doesn't move the puck quick enough. Need another puck mover back there.

of course if you only look at the Leafs, you can argue that a goal, from Matthews instead of a post could have turned things around, but this is not looking at it objectively, hypothesis don't win games, posts are hit all the time, the fact is that the Bruins hit 3 in the first period, so what if one or more go in instead than the Matthews post is completely irrelevant as they would trail by too many goals. you need to look at both sides when you come up with an argument otherwise it diminishes the value of it, unless you only see one team on the ice and not the other
