    Trevelings biggest mistake was not trading Mitch before his NMC kicked in. Yes, it would've been a very bold move for a new GM (and maybe he wasn't allowed) but that's where we could've done something drastic to change our fortunes. Now, we have to let Mitch walk unless he agrees to a change of scenery. This is really all on Shanahan and he better be getting canned.

      @amiller2121 Shanahan blocked it. During the post-Dubas firing Press conference he publicly said he assured the core four nobody was going anywho.
      For all the criticism about Keefe, Dubas and Tre (which are valid) Shanahan is the main culprit.

    This team lacks character. It's been that way since the Matthews era started. They dont hate to lose and aren't willing to do the things that are necessary to win at this time of year. Also, always having the 2nd best coach in a series doesn't help either.

    I would hope that after this, the Bourne and Kipper crew don't ever try to squeeze Matthews into the best player in the league conversation. We've seen so many examples of when it matters, he's just not a player that can kick it up a notch. Do you think Mackinnon, Drai, McDavid, Kuch are sitting out a 3rd period of a game they are trailing that will almost certainly mean they are going to lose the series? In a series that has had extra days off in between games? Come on now. Never again with the Matthews conversation.

    In 2010, they had a 3-0 series lead vs the Flyers and got reversed swept to lose in 7 games. In 2011, they DECIMATED Philadelphia. So yeah, they blew a 3-1 lead to Florida, but they're not going to let that happen again. Esepcially against a Leafs team that can't perform come playoff time.

    This team has way more pure talent than the teams of the Pat Burns or Pat Quinn eras, but those teams had HEART. Especially under Burms, you never had a sense that a team led by Doug Gilmour or Wendel Clark would shortchange you on effort. This current iteration of the team is infuriating because they give their fans nothing. The Core 4 gets paid better than anybody in the NHL, and they are they are happy to cash those cheques, but that's Ir. The only time they show real grit and determination is during a contract negotiation.

    Picking on Robertson.. come on lol at least he brings some speed and offensive touch. Dewer has been mediocre and ok on the PK, didn’t deserve the scratch but unlikely to change the outcome.
    Line 4 has been guilty of giving up the first goal in 2 of the 3 losses. You don’t want to go down a goal to the Bs especially when you’re matching up 4th lines. That line seeming being “okay” is more of a reflection of how bad our others lines have been.
    And playing em down 2 with 5 mins left is a wild call.

    Leafs are not playing to there strengths and Bruins weakness.. Same as when they played the Panthers. There strategy is all wrong man. They need to play a "run and gun" game. Thats who they are man. You can still play that way and play defensively minded. Its also tough to build a contender when you spend all the cap up front. It is what is.

    • @rocket_shorts505
      @rocket_shorts505 13 днів тому

      Unfortunately, that’s simply not how playoffs are won. No one knows this more than the most winningest Stanley Cup coach in history, Scotty Bowman. The man bent the high octane offence Detroit Red Wings to his will until they became defense-first. They won three Stanley Cups under him.
      But to do that, you need good defence men and absolutely hot goalie.
      What the leafs needed to understand their rushes and set-piece plays during the penalties were not going to give them returns against the team designed the counter both. I know we love Marner and Matthews goals, but you are much more likely to get the Domi and Bertuzzi variety with scrambles in front of the net and the second or third attempt or deflection or bounce going in. That was the way the Leafs should have set up the power play; three guys near the net ready to put-muscle the Bruins for the puck and point men either passing it to them or driving on net and hoping for a rebound.

    No excuses here, but we do have to remember that 2 of the 4 main forwards just came back from injury. Marner with a high ankle sprain, which could explain his terrible play and Nylander with his migraines or whatever. Plus I think the McMann injury has had a negative impact too.
    Like I said though, no excuses. My biggest issue is this. Marner got his injury right around the trade deadline. Why oh why didn’t they capitalize on that and do what Vegas did. Put Marner on long term until playoffs and use that money to bring in some top D man. Anyway, that’s my thoughts

    Honestly fellas, I feel so broken right now with this team. But here’s my take for the soon to be off season.
    I see them not getting rid of or signing Marner right away. I can see Keefe being fired and them seeing what happens in the first few months of next season first.
    They need to sign Domi. He definitely has what it takes to be a Leaf and will be a fan favourite.

    • @willyupshaw
      @willyupshaw 12 днів тому

      Woll definitely should have started game 4. The Leafs don't have a clear starter and Sammy had already put them behind in the series twice. It made a lot more sense to make the switch when they were half way to elimination rather than one game away. Woll will start game five and could be a difference maker, but now it feels like it's too late to save the series.

For last 7-8 years they play good in reg season then playoffs come and every leaf player hides under there bed! So sad. I would blow this whole team up in offseason.
