Clock Chimes at York Minster, North Yorkshire

    York Minster is home to the best ring of bells in the world, and I have been privileged to ring here on multiple occasions; before the ring for a service I managed to film the equally excellent clock chime in the south-west tower. This tower houses 6 quarter-bells, the heaviest of which is virtually a copy of the tenor in the other tower, cast in 2000, to accompany the great bourdon Great Peter, the deepest-toned hour bell in the UK. The chimes are unique as instead of playing a known chime like Cambridge or Whittington’s, they play an excerpt from the hymn “York”. Rather fitting as it is… in York.

    Expect a new upload tomorrow/tonight, I’ve been at YACR’s AGM so there should be some footage of Longwood, Brighouse and hopefully Huddersfield.
